On a serious note we should start gathering tourney results since end of august is time for a new update. Nll will be the last one used unless there's one more in sfl

I'll work on it when I get home today. I'll also resurrect the tourney scheduling thread so we can go with it starting September. I'll also link to any weekly smashfests fl hosts

Also it should be discussed now how wins/losses count. If there was more agreement about it then regions wouldn't feel the need for regional based rankings. I'm willing to aim chat with other panelists to come to a feasible agreement. It's crucial for the unified goal of Florida to grow larger and get better

I don't have any control over that, nor do I have any part of that. I also don't necessarily have a problem with it either.

With that said, I am in favor of a unified system. If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't have gone to SFL this past weekend when there was a CFL tourney as well.

Florida has enough talent to give a top 15 PR and have it be accurate.
The panel is responsible for producing an accurate pr. This should mean they are responsible for all things deemed subjective. Like it or not there is no way to eliminate subjectivity from a PR system.

We are a relatively large state. In my opinion i think a state wide elo system is the best way to go. I have felt this way for a long time.

I would like to be included in the making of the next FL PR, but only if my fellow FL smashers recommend me.

If my fellow smashers feel i am qualified to work on this let me and the rest of the players know. Thanks

There really isn't that much talent. Top 15 cheapens actual accomplishment.

I find it inappropriate to use an Elo system using tournament matches to determine a ranking (esp. in the way you're describing). You may run into a problem of people purposely selecting opponents by not traveling to certain regions (I know some of you new players are really desperate to be "recognized"). Another problem is point inflation overshadowing less active yet skilled players. If a new or old player jumps in at the end of a period it is unlikely for them to even scrape a lesser position (regardless of the K-value, skill or accomplishment). You could have a bonus point system which has its pool increased over time, but still.... Is all that trouble really better than educated, top players subjectively discussing "skill" with placements and match-ups displayed as evidence?

Matt unfortunately since our community doesn't have the size of players sponsors notoriety or size of spectators like SRK community, things like a PR are needed to motivate the players to get better so they have some tangible number to go by. It's because srk has all those things that they don't need a pr which is where you're coming from

It's a necessary evil...and if one day we got lucky and got as big as other fighters for the next smash game then we wouldn't need them anymore

I have an even record with Xaltis/Shaky (Or I have a losing one to Shaky, but I think even. Yeah...2-2)

Gotta disagree with you there GDX. Esam has losses against non ranks even though he has like even records with them.

Seibrik on the other hand has only 1 non ranked loss that recently just happened iirc. I think he will probably be #1
