Halzy, why would it be polarized? (Answer for other people, I understand why)
Espy directly talked to me about this so I know it to be true.

"In short, here is how it works.

* The list is extremely dynamic based on recent tournament results. It tries to stay as up-to-date as possible. The list is updated after EVERY tournament (please email me TIO files).
* Players are rated based on head-to-head battles for any given tournament. They are not based off of placings (1st, 2nd, 3rd), as this is not necessary.
* Everyone starts at 1600 points. This is considered the average score.
* You gain points for beating someone in tournament. If they have more points than you, you'll gain more points. If they have less points, you'll gain fewer points.
* You lose points if you lose to someone in tournament. If they have more points than you, you'll lose fewer points. If they have less points, you'll lose more points.
* Not going to a tournament means you will not gain or lose points, you'll stay the same. This explains why some inactive players (Melee1, PhoenixAlpha, etc) are still ranked decently high.
* Only Brawl Singles are counted for ratings. Teams, Low-Tier, etc will not be counted.
* Players must have participated in at least two tournaments to appear on the PR lis"

Think about this for a second. Look at the 4/5 regions of Florida and you can see how this wouldn't work. SFL currently has 8 ranked players. Outside of recent event's they're still widely considered the best region in FL by a huge margin. Think of the difference between SFL and Swamp ***** tournaments and Tampa tournaments. In Tampa tournaments, I never lose to anyone. I would easily be ranked absurdly high over everyone in FL besides ESAM if I only went to Tampa tournaments solely from doing this. Then Mampam/Ganja who consistently place 2nd/3rd (for now) would follow suit. Viper would also be ranked extremely high simply from beating people in his crew. Then look at Orlando. Gallax has been performing incredibly well, but he still occasionally loses to people like Mero/Hrnut/Ramen. He wouldn't be ranked as high as viper because of this. Then in SFL, ESAM (who almost never loses) would be highest, while people like NR/MVD with any degree of inconsistency would be completely screwed and on average not rank as high as people in weaker regions.

Seriously, this kind of system would work in New Jersey, but sure as hell not in FL. You might as well just have your own PR for each region of FL.

You guys can try it but I'm going to fight yall every step of the way ;)

I havent lost to ramen or mero in tourney. Ive beaten Ramen twice actually.

And its a system worth exploring imo. Im an aerospace engineer who also has two math majors living with him, one being a statistician. We are gonna try and work out some of the kinks. I appreciate your input though halzy. My aim is gallax1117. Add me plz so we can discuss this because i really need someone arguing against the system so that it can stir thoughts and help make the system better.

I've always felt the way Red Halberd does about the TX PR system and I agree with him completely.
But I'm even more against you deciding to do this with out reaching the general consensus of Florida Gallax.
The whole "idc if you guys continue the rankings we've been doing I'm still making my own" attitude.

Think of the consequences that would come from having two Power Rankings.
How would oos or even people in Florida know which to believe?
There would be tons of conflict , let's say Xaltis was 7 on this PR and Viper was 7 on yours.
There would be pointless arguments about who the real 7th ranked Floridian was.

I really don't think you should do this , I feel like our last PR update was extremely accurate.

Woah im not trying to step on anyones toes here and im sorry if i am. I wanna test this system out just to test it out. Thats why i wanted to create a totally separate thread. This thread is going to remain our Main PR no matter what. Im doing this simply because I feel and so do others from CFL that the texas system is worth looking into. That is all.

Hey so i was thinking about running PR thread for Flawda similar to what Texas does. So starting after the next PR rankings come out i will be taking all the data for who beats who at every tourney and have a ranking system for every single player in florida that competes. I will update this thread EVERY WEEKEND.

This can be separate from these PR's if you guys wish but im definitely doing it.
I've been working on this for months and then I need to start over because I made a mistake with an exchange near the beginning and have to re-do it. I was running a state list and a city-centralized list (Orlando, Tampa, and Miami).

Well the problem with the TX pr that the FL pr takes care of is the fact that with that system someone like me could get on the PR since I might only be able to play NFL ppl w/ out having to play someone as good as Gallax or D-torr. And then the skill level will be skewed

I tryed very hard advocating for this system a couple months ago. I will be useing this system to update my swampniigga pr and here is link to my schools PR (we wrote a program to get the scores) you can see how the system works in a very close area its a great idea to have both. and if gallax wants to take the time to put out a system like this power to him.

p.s you cant help who is in your region.

That point is that While I can easily b one of the top players in NFL I aint got ish on NickR HrNUT & Seibrik...

If we go by that system, then we will end up with me being ranked higher than them by simply bringing in other nubs from my region to goin more and more points

I agree with Snipa. Creating a new thread would be a bad idea because it would just serve to confuse outsiders or even FL smashers, and create confusion over the FL rankings. Confusion = people take the rankings less seriously = less competition = FL gets worse.

Also I didn't know anything about the system but RedHalberd makes it sound terrible if what he says is true.

Ok, well then how bout this. For each REGION i will do a points system for. So there will be a SFL/CFL/FGCU/NFL/TAMPA/GVILLE points system. From that we can see how each region is growing and how the players stack up from one another. Then when regions meet and players beat others from other regions we can better understand how each stacks up to the other region.

How does that sound?

how abouuttt

we do that first idea

then we make seperate lists for each tourny they meet at

like if JUST cfl comes to a sfl tourny, we make a list comparing the two based on that tourny and their previous points or w.e.

or if tampa/cfl come down, we compare the three

then if cfl comes down again and its just another cfl/sfl tourny, we go back to the sfl/cfl list and update that one.....

make sense or too complicated?

How about you guys just give me the tourney data after each tourney and then ill release the results each week and then we can decide with what to do with them?

You guys are missing the point of this. Lemme say this very clearly:

THIS SYSTEM IS NOT FOR DETERMINING STATE PRS

I simply want to test this system out and then see if its an accurate representation of player skill and standings. Simple as that.

the more points you have would mean that you have won more and should reflect your skill level. If esam never loses he will only gain points and therefore will have the most points, thereby reflecting his skill level.

Oh and i love this live topic thing.
