I thought it was planned to release on the exact same day as Brawl before this change, not three weeks after it.
February 22th WAS the release date according to Kotaku.
And I don't think NMH is that big of a deal to put a sizeable dent in Brawl sales, seein as it's Brawl we're talking about, but I don't see why they wouldn't wait until after Brawl to release it.
The issue isn't NMH hurting Brawl, but Brawl utterly annihilating NMH. When I get two huge games, and one is even slightly more fun, the other game gets ignored.
My take on it is I think they should spend a little time to develop their piss-poor operating system, and stick with online gaming on the PC rather than make yet another console that we all have to buy even though they could have just made them for computer.
Yep, because the most profitable, most widely used, and most versatile operating system is terrible. Christ I hate people with that mindset. Windows has so far been the best operating system as it's easier to find compatible software for. Linux may be open-ended but it's too much work for a lot of people to find decent software for it.
but where i live, thats a extra 20 bucks because of blue ray discs,i have a wii and support micosoft over sony, but i think blue ray discs are'nt all great look at the ps3 it is getting killed at it has the best hardware and definiton,i prefer the wii on a hdtv with 480p
Blu-Ray already smashed HD DVD with another two major studios going Blu-Ray only. The PS3 was declared the best Blu-Ray player on the market right now. Main reason? It upscales all Standard DVDs to 1080p which is exactly why you'd buy Blu-Ray. Trust me, HD is the future, not Enhanced TV (480p).
I don't really care about hd-tv personally but here's what I think it means for the consoles:
Both Sony and Microsoft are banking on using the inevitable ungrade to Hd-Tv to their advantage - much like the ungrade to dvds helped the PS2 earn its installed base. So far (and I think, for the forseeable future) not enough people own or care about hd-tv to make a difference. But four or five years from now? The need to ungrade to High Defintion is definitely going to increase demand for consoles that also happen to be High-Defintition DVD players (ie: the 360 or PS3.)
The problem is that now with Warner Bros only releasing their movies on Blu-ray, Microsoft is left with a HD-DVD player that won't play the vast majority of movies people want to watch. Rather than let Sony take the whole pie for themselves, I fear that Microsoft will kill their console early and upgrade to a newer model with an HD format that can more effectively combat Sony's Blu-ray player.
I'm not saying that it's DEFINITELY going to happen, but its a possibility gamers should consider when buying a 360.
For the love of god: it's UPGRADE!
