On the topic of possible movesets, I feel like Ashley's magic lightning blast from her minigame in Game and Wario would be a good inclusion, maybe as a long-ranged f-air or something. Overall I'd imagine she would have a lot of moves like this that keep opponents just out of range.
You know, someone should calculate the rate at which this thread, along with some other big threads, have been moving since E3. I think that would be rather interesting.

I've thought of doing that, but I'm not much of a stat person. The brightest idea I have is tracking each day since e3 and checking how many posts it had on each day and putting the data on desmos. Probably primitive to what someone else can concoct.
Instead I'm control F-ing Ashley on each thread to check what's being said about her growth. Happy to report that people have taken notice, but it's incidence is about what you'd expect based on how often we talk about other threads: pretty rare.
Tho here's my favorite quote so far, "I kinda feel like this thread has been slowing down a bit in comparison to some other popular picks like K. Rool and Ashley (both of whom I very much support)".
The other I can't really share. Let's just say the person in question was having a bad day, but they did call Ashley trendy so there's that.

Maybe we can see average post per day since E3? Find the first post after the presentation, what number it was, look at how many posts there has been since, and divide that by how many day's there has been since then. That seems like the easiest route, but might not be that accurate.

Maybe, but I think you would end up with a straight line if we did that. Which would be good if you just wanted to know when we surpassed each thread. But this thread had a lot of luls and peaks and it would be nice to see where those are on a graph. I don't think the meteoric rise was immediate. It took a while for it to really dawn on people that Ashley wasn't shown as an assist and even longer for her to surpass even threads like Lip. I used to think we could never pull it off, but here we are now.

Well this is the next stop if nothing gets revealed this week I guess. I don't expect a reveal as Legendary Spirit Tamer has said, newcomers are hardly revealed outside E3, Directs and Nintendo events, but maybe Nintendo will change things up this time around.
Ashley can bring potion types of magic and Isaac can bring earth magic. The thing that's cool about magic is how diverse it can be across different characters
We'll party like it's 1999! get it?! Smash came out in 1999!
We'll it's time to dust off your account and put it to good use! And I can't think of any better use than to support Ashley! Welcome to the Ashley thread!
EDIT:
Heh! thought you could catch me off guard posting while I was writing my post did you?! Welcome to the Ashley thread!
I'm beginning to get the feeling we're not getting a Direct this week either, so... I guess that's it at this point and we just have to wait for later in the month?

Yeah, if a Direct isn't announced later today, I will lose hope for one this week and I won't put my hopes for EVO unless Sakurai is going to be there. I guess we may have to wait for Gamescom.
Yeah, I feel that we're most likely not getting one this week, but hopefully we'll get a Direct this month. Nintendo doesn't seem to have much in the pipeline for August. I'm honestly surprised we haven't got any new info on Smash or that no credible leaks have come out since E3.
One thing the Brawl reveals and Smash 4 reveals had in common was that they both had 4 Newcomers who remained hidden until the release of Smash. 2 Newcomers with unique fighting styles (Lucario and R.O.B for Brawl and Bowser Jr. and Duck Hunt Dog for Smash 4) and 2 Newcomers who were probably added as a last minute way of filling up the roster due to borrowing moves from a character already included in Smash (Wolf and Toon Link for Brawl and Dark Pit and Doctor Mario for Smash 4).
It's safe to say there will still be some Newcomers left unrevealed when the game is released. If the pattern continues there will be 2 Newcomers and 2 Echo fighters left at the time of the Ultimate release.
When Vergeben says there's still at least a half a dozen Newcomers left to be added, I like to think Vergeben uses the term "Newcomers" as Non-Echo fighters. Throw a few Echo fighters on top and it seems we could get a monthly Newcomer reveal and still have 4 characters left when Ultimate releases.
If we get a newcomer reveal in the first half of each month of August, September, October and, November with the game releasing in December that would evenly spread the news.
Smash 4's reveals seemed to be fairly evenly distributed towards the end. The problem is though is Sakurai seems to like being random with surprising the fans so you can't say for certain this is the way things will go but, it helps ease the anticipation through this news drought.

That’s great observation skills. In my opinion that would be the best thing to do, spread the news. But as you said at the end, there is always a chance Sakurai goes Random on us. I can never read that guy...
Ganondorf playing the organ makes me wonder. Imagine a “Smash Bros. Band” covering Ashley’s Song. Ashley of course would be on vocals, Ganondorf on Organ, Link on the Ocarina, Zelda on Harp, DK on Bongos, And Diddy on Guitar (like DK64). I don’t know who else plays an instrument on the top of my head... That would sound... Interesting I guess... that’s one crazy combination of instruments...

Until I see Ashley as an assist trophy, I'll still have hope that she'll be playable. My general rule of thumb for AT characters is as follows:
AT characters who have not shown up yet have maybe a 10% chance of showing up as playable. That's doubled if that character is particularly popular. That's doubled again if that character had a Mii costume in Smash 4, and that's doubled again if Nintendo heavily promotes that character.
So right now I'd say that at most Ashley has an 80% chance of being playable. That also bodes well for Isabelle, another character who keeps on making the rounds on leaks.
Ashley just got a new 3DS theme to promote WarioWare Gold. As far as I'm aware, no other character got their own theme, not even Wario himself. Nintendo is promoting her again as the face of the franchise.
Of course I could be dead wrong as I'm just speculating. Also people say that Ashley could still be an AT because she hasn't shown up yet. They could replace her as an AT with literally any other WarioWare character and still meet the 50 AT requirement. All the evidence I see points to Ashley's favor.

Shows how long it's been since I've used my 3DS, but they're promoting it again and it does seem odd that she's the only WarioWare character they promote these days.

Sakurai is the type of guy that wants to be sporadic. A character reveal will never take place on a specific day the fans expect unless a major leak get out. Of course, he will always allow a buffer time between character reveals to allow the press coverage to get through and the hype to settle before moving on.

While none of us obviously know what Sakurai's game plan is for character reveals this time around, for the most part all of smash 4's character reveals were either done during Nintendo directs or during E3 for both of the years it was featured, so I don't think we'd get character trailers randomly outside of those kinds of events. The only outliers were Robin/Lucina (who were revealed during some livestream on the smash 4 website), Shulk, Bowser Jr, and Duck Hunt, the latter two having trailers after the 3DS version had already launched. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to be the same situation for Ultimate, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I'm not really expecting any major announcements for EVO or Gamescom, but hey, surprises are always welcome.

That he was. I heard that he was one of the top requests in Japan at the time, so I imagine that was the reason Nintendo was okay with the relatively lowkey announcement for a Smash newcomer.
