iirc the melee finals were boring and the FGC kicked up a fuss (esp stream monsters), but i heard that 64 was really successful, or at least untouched by the rest of the discontent

i can see how the other games may have had that feeling, but trust me 64 was nothing short of amazing. Nintendude, hamburglar, and chain ace did a GREAT job running the tournament, I don't think there were any issues. Tons of setups (though mostly brought by us) let us play lots of friendlies. And the team tourney was self run so no hitches there. I think the other games had waaaaayyyyy to many ppl to be run effectively. Also their finals sucked and ours was awesome!

Seeing as 64 has a much smaller community and the tournament was put in charge by actual 64 players, I don't doubt that the tournament was run well. I was just curious if it was set up by Apex and ran terribly or if you guys took charge and did things right.

Good job :)

Yeah as others said all the issues with Apex were with Melee / Brawl falling way behind schedule. I haven't really heard a single complaint about the way we handled 64.

64 tourney at Apex was a 64 players dream come true. It was by far the best tournament I have been to all thanks to Nintendude, hamburglar, and chain ace they all did a really good job hosting and making sure we all got to smash. That being said only thing we could get better for next time is not having a cap as we could have had alot more then 64 players join if there was no cap.

Depends, it was originally for $50 but I might do $200 depending on what character he plays.

Pst...I hear that the famous KishSquared from the most viewed 64 video ever will be at this tournament:

I'm sure you want to see how you match up.

And those are just the competitive matches. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

lol wow battlecow wimping out already

and i havent even bodied him yet
You're a really annoying person. I like how you apologized for trolling all the time because you were "used to brawl" or whatever and couldn't differentiate between the forums, and then kept doing it.

OK, I'm officially mad. Laughs all 'round. Now will you please stop it already?

OK, I'm ignoring you now. If you want to communicate with me about the rules/circumstances of our MM, have someone else talk to me. Otherwise, I won't be reading your posts.

@Anyone who knows Gio--is he trolling/whatever, or is he autistic or something? Genuine question, I don't really want to do MM's with someone who's unstable or incapable of making informed decisions.

@Sheer-I don't know exactly what you mean by that, but any "over-the-top" behavior from me generally takes the form of light-hearted fun or maybe genuine internet rage rather than just being a blithering ***wipe for no good reason 24/7

Sorry for being lame and getting all dramatic guys. I just feel like I'm digging myself into a deeper hole every time I respond to one of this guy's posts.

gio was in my bracket at Apex and seemed like a pretty chill / normal guy.

Nah, AFAIK I've never hustled a ******** person.

@Sheer- Find me an example of serious mad-arrogance besides me saying I could beat you (something I'm still willing to MM over, btw). Far more often you'll find me saying I'm bad over and over and then griping that I'm not that bad when people josh me.

@SK- Nope. I was doing great when gio and I were doing friendly back-and-forth trash talk, but he started getting REALLY serious in a REALLY weird way and kept talking about how he was going to smack me in the face with his **** or whatever and just generally being hella strange for months on end. Apparently he's cool IRL, but I really don't want to deal with it on a daily basis on the boards and that is not a bad choice.

Ugh.

Alright, this thread lost it's topic a long time ago. Take it to PM's or just shut up in general, there's no need for this thread to be closed over stupid drama like this.

Hm... Gio's trashtalking in this thread seemed pretty normal to me, or at least not "REALLY weird". But what he said here really annoyed you, despite the apparent lack of strangeness, so it looks like that's not it. Not buying it.

I'm not criticizing your decision to ignore him, you can do what you want.

@Zantetsu If tournament threads got locked because of pre-tourney drama 90% of them wouldn't remain open.

You should recognize that stuff like this is what generates hype for a tournament ;)
