I mean, don't feel obligated to cancel all your weekend plans. We hang out nearly every weekend so it's perfectly fine to take a week off. I won't be offended or anything.

That'd be cool CTL. I dunno if you've been keeping up with the P:M thread or reading the news entries on smashmods but a LOT of important issues have been solved since the demo came out.

TH if you don't wanna come up this weekend that's fine. But I still plan on smashing/livestreaming if there is anyone around to smash with, and will hopefully get to see Sucker Punch (which I will gladly watch again next weekend if it's good). Or were you talking to CTL? Because that's Bandit's house and we can't exactly invite people over there without running it by him...

I'm still not sold on Sucker Punch, but I'm willing to give it a chance to prove me wrong. Still haven't seen Kick-*** either. Any of you gents have a copy I could borrow?

@JCz I was talking to CTL about next week. It's true though we'd have to talk to Bandit about it, but what reason would he have to turn down CTL? He's a small polite azn boi with a healthy hatred of Mongorrians.

I dare you to turn down CTL Bandit >:|. You can't do it.

But I bet he could turn down his friend GEOFF on the grounds that he loves to SPELL HIS NAME OBNOXIOUSLY. I know that'd be a pretty big criterion on my list for parties.

I'm sure Bandit has no beef with CTL but he is having a lot of people over afaik and I don't think it's really gonna be a smash event. But I guess we'll see.

Problem is Gee-off needs to go back to school in Chicago (with zero smash scene) on Sunday. We're on spring break so we don't have 9001 assignments to do, not like it would matter.

But I'm actually really confused about what's going on.

this weekend - too lazy to read through all unread posts so just fill me in.

me - available and wanting to see sucker punch

you - ??
This weekend - JCz initially had some family stuff this weekend, but plans fell through so he'll be free on the weekend. Sounds like it's going to be the usual fest + Sucker Punch.

me - made plans after hearing that JCz had family stuff to do...a LOT of plans. Some of which I can get out of (but would be rude to do so), some of which I can't. I think that I'll just be staying home this weekend and hyping myself up for Bandit's Wolfpack partaaay.

cmart - also made plans but seems to be mostly cancelable. Should be available but I'll let him confirm so himself.

CTL - is available and will bring his friend Je-...Geoff. Is unable to go to Bandit's Wolfpack partaaaaaaay due to being a responsible student.

Bandit - is going to turn down CTL even if he wanted to come because he's a small polite azn boi. Is also hyped for his own Wolfpack partaaaaaaay.

Count_Kaiser - is being black as **** and lulzing heartily.

you - available and wanting to see Sucker Punch.

I think that just about covers it.

in general, all i need to know is what myself, th, ceez, and bandit are doing. everyone else is superfluous....

btw

superfluous - adjective - unnecessary or needless.

for those that needed it ;)

: [ I suppose my sympathies were not enough to engender my promotion from superfluous. In any case my plans were to join some coworkers for an outing in PA. Happens all the time and I can easily beg off. I'm in.

Engender - cause, be the cause of, or result in.

@ cmart - you are new, you gotta work your way up the ladder, sympathy alone wont do it

also i realize you've been on the smash scene longer than i have so calling you new is a little ironic.

It's cool. I realize that I might as well be a newb, considering all my old smash friends have either retired or gone inactive.

...maybe I'm a newbie veteran?

This was out of left field. She didn't know about it until last night, so I had no prior warning.

Am I the only one who looks at the list and goes "what is ping pong doing on there?"

What is the median age of this event? From the list of activities, I would guess somewhere around 8.

Anyway, what time are people available on Saturday? Ideally I'd like to go see Sucker Punch in the afternoon, then BWW, then smash livestream somewhere.

I dunno. I guess I'll go if smash turnout is high

Played Genetos. It was a pretty cool game aside from the point where my frame rate tanked (no clue what that was about). Music was kind of quaint, graphics were a bit too abstract for my tastes. I like my shooters to have a textural feel to them. The concept is a bit gimmicky, and I definitely liked the later levels more than the earlier ones. Still, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for linking me to it

Hmm I never had any frame rate problems. I thought the graphics were pretty slick looking, but I've never played a Touhou game before (seen videos though). What I liked most about it was that it was so fast-paced and varied that you couldn't get bored with it (aside from the first level because Space Invaders did not stand the test of time at all). I've also had fun trying to figure out the different routes that unlock different weapons.

Sorry that I have to be very anal about this: Touhou isn't the genre, Bullet Hell is. The Touhou games aren't anywhere near the first Bullet Hell made either.

I know. I'm pretty well-versed on video game history. Like I said, I never played a Touhou game. cmart has, so I'm assuming that's what he is comparing Genetos to. I'm just saying that I don't have the same frame of reference for comparison.

Anyway, what time are you coming up on Saturday?

I'm actually more a fan of old school shooters from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. Bullet Hell games are fun, but I find most modern shooters have arcane scoring systems that promote silly gameplay. That said I find the genre fascinating to explore, and it certainly appeals to my arcade sensibilities.
