I'm not going to see the movie until next week, and I'm going to avoid; the general thread during that time. I'd still like to visit here and the persona threads.

You should know that the monster recruiting in Dragon Quest V is random, by the way. Monsters each have a chance of joining you, and some of them won't join you at all. It's best to treat each monster recruit like a delightful surprise rather than something you plan for.

It also only becomes available to you after a certain point in the story, and even then it's easy to miss. When you reach a town with a casino in it, return to that town in the nighttime, and go to the upper left shop.

With those tips out of the way, I hope you enjoy your time with Dragon Quest V!

Also I think it's good for new players to know that you have to go to the church priest to save the game.
(and it's also where you can revive party members)

Ooh I like the sound of some of his spells, looks like they could get real creative and out there with his magic which was what I wanted to hear from directly from his dedicated fans.
Alright you guys did it, he has my support , as you can tell by my profile magic users are intriguing to me and the spells you brought up for Erdrick does make it sound like it could perfectly translate to a very good Smash moveset.

Well fellas the decisions been made and I now begin my journey to beat each dragon quest game in chronological order. After years of neglecting the franchise, I’ve decided to give the series an all out dive as the rpg fan I am and my love of Japanese culture. So I’m really hoping Erdrick or some other rep makes it in for all you guys out there and if he doesn’t, I’ll just enjoy the grand adventure that lies ahead. No guides, just pure grind and adventure.

Really nice, I like to play some games in their native console.(It's why I hope to buy a SNES soon) Here isn't hard to find modded cartridges in a site called Mercado Livre(it's like a Brazilian eBay), but it's hard to know what type of SNES you will need for those, because of the physical region locks.
Don't worry, I did it some time ago too, it's just 'cause it's against the forum rules so it's good to keep a eye on it to don't have any problem with the adms.

Nami is a Thief that changed vocation to Mage.

And of course, they're all Pirates.

This fit pretty well. Specially as the Luminary class fit better Brook type of entertainer then Jester.

It would be crazy if they show Erdrick on Square Enix conference and the MS rep on Microsoft one, and on their Direct they just come with that smug "So what did you think?" face at the start of their presentation and show a bit of Erdrick Gameplay, and talk about the Game Pass showing the game from the announced character.
In my show&release timespan analysed prediction, there's two occasions that can two characters been showed: June(E3) and November(Last Direct date).

This has nothing to do with anything, but is that Monster World IV's Asha I see in your avatar, Teeb147 ? I love the Wonder Boy/Monster World/Monster Boy series, they're tons of fun. Shantae reminds me of those games (particularly Monster World IV for obvious reasons), so I grew to love that series as well.

I'm so happy that the series returned with "Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom", which was an amazing game.

(Seriously, if anyone here hasn't played Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, I highly recommend giving it a try. It's really good.)

Anything's possible, but honestly I think it'll be kind of the other way around: anything Dragon Quest-related at E3 will probably come from Nintendo's end. There won't be any brand-new DQ announcements at E3, so all Square Enix has to promote on their own is the PS4 version of Builders 2, and I doubt they think that's exciting enough to be worth a conference spot. Depends on how much else they've got going on, I guess.

That suits me fine. Last year everyone was too busy bellyaching about FFVII to even notice that Dragon Quest was there.

I am terrified of spoilers. I'm practically going off of Smashboards for a day or two because I know someone is going to just accidentally spoil something.

It'd certainly be telling if he got his hands on one of those before they actually release. It's definitely a better option than some of the older DQIII Hero figures that exist.

I kind of want one of those bad boys, but they're awfully pricey. I'd probably go for Serena & Veronica over Erdrick, though.

The one that claimed the Five character(through it just made up everything after the two first characters just to draw attention), could have heard that P5R was going to be announced on the first half of the year, but it mistake as it been released the first half. But I think more and more people are coming around to the possibility of Erdrick. It's apparent that people are aware of Erdrick's legacy and importance by now, so even a lot of their detractors are willing to tolerate them if they did get in.

Atlus takes a very long time for there localizations if there's a game you want from them expect to wait a year form the Japanese release date

I'd love if this is true, however unlikely. Waiting until after the Dragon Quest XI port was formally showcased for the Switch, then waiting a few months afterwards, then unveiling a Dragon Quest character sometime in the middle of the year (or later this month if the rumors that a separate Nintendo Direct will happen this month are true). It shows a real sense of restraint and timing if that's the case.

I thought that as Persona had already won a award in TGA, even more as there hasn't any Dragon Quest announcement nor trailer in TGA and DQXI was competing so it wasn't good to show something about it, or if DQXI had won it could give a "rigged" feeling in it.

I'm sure some wacky scheduling shenanigans must have gone on behind the scenes, especially if all five fighters pass characters are third-party, but I find it hard to believe an Erdrick reveal at the Game Awards would've ever been considered. Of course Nintendo and Square Enix both do some pretty weird stuff sometimes, but I can't imagine leading the fighters pass with a character who isn't familiar to a lot of people over here, before Western releases for the upcoming DQ games for Switch had even been announced. Better to build things up gradually and get the series on people's minds first.

Related to that, the one silly conspiracy theory I'm willing to subscribe to is: if any of the DQ leaks are for real, I don't think it's so improbable that SE or Nintendo let it slip deliberately to get people used to the idea. It's still more likely that it was genuinely accidental, and even more likely than that that it's all nonsense, but I don't think it'd be that bad of a strategy in this situation, and it does happen occasionally.
