I won a contest on IGN...somehow.

I say somehow because I re-read my entry and I wrote "Apathetic" instead of "Empathetic" which made what I was talking about make no sense. Unless other people believe apathetic was the right word. In context, I believe people could have figured out what I meant though

Maybe they realized what I was talking about though. Or maybe they just choose randomly

Edit: I also own an abacus, but I never learned how to use it. I decided to look it up online and I get how to use it now

music has so much power to me. i was in a very dark and very self-loathing place earlier today and i didn't think anything would pull me out let alone something as "intangible" as a song but when it hit me it was a religious experience and it lifted me up in a very real way. i feel like i would not have been able to cope with living through all these years if it wasn't for music. it never lies or betrays.

Not a complicated version mind you

So it turns out I'm still applicable for the $25,000 scholarship and I'm not to late to get it.

I'm pretty glad about now and I'll be starting this November after all. Only to graduate @ 20 years old if I manage to do well enough.

So much time to spare after that. So much time.

Nice!!!

Well, if you are going into the games industry.....

You'll have no time whatsoever. At all. Seriously. You have to spend that free time sending out your demo reel and portfolio and building your portfolio more and then you get a job and then craziness ensues.

It's still a lot of fun though : D

Amazing day at work today :D

So I got my schedule for next week... and they put me as a cart attendant... which is what I signed up for... which I hate being :c I'm not built for hauling carts around all day @_@ I'm thin, but not very muscular.

So anyway the last training days have been me as a cashier :D

Today when I was punching out, the supervisor/team leader/manager guy stops me and says he wants me inside the store, and doesn't want me doing carts again.

WOOOOOOO!!! Lol

Doing more at your job = flexibility and initiative, which in turn translates to possible raises and/or promotions.

Not that you care since you're probably still in High School, but whatever.

I was actually just in training to be a backup cashier just in case, but they decided I was better at being a cashier than a cart attendant so they switched my job. (I think it's because I got someone to sign up for the Target Redcard, which apparently is a big deal)

And yeah I'm still in Highschool.

Good on you that you did, but it's still just part of your job. You're expected to push deals, policies and/or specials like that on the customer.

Work there for a little while and you'll see that. It's not as big of a deal as you think.

And yeah I'm still in Highschool.
I figured as much. Good stuff regardless, though.

So I just ordered a Macbook Air(13 in, i5, 8g, 128g ssd) recently. To my dismay, the bottom was curved and it wobbled on flat surfaces. It's not a huge issue but the laptop wasn't cheap so my mother called the Apple Store and asked to exchange it. They told her that they only carried the base model in store(I ordered one with extra ram) and I'd have to get a refund and order another one online making me wait another week. They did mention, however, that they had a slightly more upgraded Macbook air in stock that would only be a 100 dollar increase. We went into the apple store and talked to the worker there. The guy we talked to was very nice and was ready to let us exchange mine for the better one, free of charge. But he said that whoever spoke to us on the phone was incorrect and that the macbook air in stock was far superior to mine. My mom practically begged and within 15 minutes we were able to exchange mine for the other one. When I got home I checked the specs and price difference and almost fell over when I saw it was a $900 increase(i7, 8g, 512g ssd).

I'm shocked that the Apple employee agreed to the straight trade and truthfully, this laptop is was more than what I need, but I'm so happy with it. Best computer/laptop I've ever owned and it really made me appreciate Apple's customer service.

Created a new user-name on the forum I love to frequent and I don't think I've been detected. I was reading these arguments on the boards and the whole day at work I couldn't stop thinking about how I should be a part of them. It's nice to be back, let's just hope it lasts.

I'm up to 25,000 words on my story now, meaning I'm halfway done. I'm proud of myself for sticking with this and not giving up. I had two other friends online who were doing the NaNoWriMo thing too and one of them dropped out, the other has gotten behind. I'm actually ahead of where I need to be right now by 3 days, so I'm glad.

Well, I am now the proud owner of a TMNT press kit, which includes a sewer shaped box, a TMNT booklet and a Leonardo figure signed by one of the voice actors in the new show...most likely the voice of Leonardo.

First thing I ever won. Better than a Leg shaped lamp

Last night, I got my blood work done, so now it's a matter of time before I see how the hormones are working for my body. Then I got to speak with my grandmother... this time in person. I had a conversation with her about my transition. She doesn't understand it; how could she? An 89-year-old Puerto Rican hardcore Christian who is super conservative. But the one thing I never expected: she still loves me and accepts me. She tells me billions of people in the world live their lives how they need to everyday, and that I should do the same. Not once did she bring up god, hell, or religion. She just wants me to be happy with myself, and says man or woman, she'll alwas love me, that I'll have a place in her heart always, and that no matter what, I'll always be welcome into her home. I couldn't help myself; I cried so much happy tears, I embraced her, kissed her, and told her how much I loved her in a way I never have before. It was the most liberating feeling, like I had just had the Titanic lifted off of my chest.

Then I hung out with several friends, including one friend who was giving me help in vocal training to feminize my voice. It will take a lot of practice spanning a long time, but I was more than glad to learn. Add to that the fact that I spoke about my relationship issues with them (arguments and apparent abuse I suffer from my girlfriend), it made me feel so much better. The best thing is that now, if I ever find the will to break up with and leave my girlfriend, I won't be homeless, as even my grandmother will accept me with open arms. Now that I know my grandmother accepts me for who I am; my grandmother: one of the least likely people to have ever accepted a transgender person, I can move forward in peace without worry.

Sol, I am so happy for you! I don't think there is anything better in this world than when a close family member accepts what you want your life to become. And your journey is going to be challenging so to have support is fantastic!

Yonder, good luck! I changed my major four times in college (journalism was one of them....ended up finishing with an Economics degree) and still don't know what I want to do. I even have a masters degree now!

So here's my happy post: Baha is just a few months away from graduating from med school. We have been stuck in a small town for three and a half years now. Once we leave this place and move on to the next city, we will have changed a lot in this med school journey. We started with Baha and I leaving our well paying jobs and going back to school...found ourselves living off of loans instead of a steady income. But we managed with no problems because we didn't spend that much in between undergrad and grad school. Then we had a baby. Mini Baha rules and is super adorable. It has been tricky with only loans to support our family. A LOT of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches throughout the years.

But it is coming to an end. Baha is doing his residency interviews! The cities that he has been invited to for interviews are all amazing. And I can finally start working again because we won't be moving. I have two moves left in me. I've had enough of the moving. Done it all my life....literally. So to know that there is an end in sight is incredible!

First time in months where I've had anything remotely resemble inspiration!

Only unhappy thing, to wit, is that I can't commit it to anything but my brain. =/ I'll have ample time later, I suppose. I just hope I don't burn out before I get in front of my computer tonight.

Only one more day of school til Thanksgiving break, just gotta get through school and I'll be in a fantastic mood. Going to Colorado to spend the holiday with family, and before I leave one of my good friends is coming back from college, so I'm very excited to see him.

I got 2 more days of school, but only 1 more day of work until thanksgiving break

I'm pretty sure one of those days is going to be a math test over something I sort of get. Hopefully enough to get a good grade on it.

The last chapter had 23 pages of different things, which is a lot more than any other chapter. It didn't seem to give a lot of useful information in those 23 pages.

Thanksgiving break after my morning class.....which involves a Skype session for the game design students by a guy who worked on infamous 2 and some other awesome games

Then I'm drivin home to Cleveland <3

Something else that made me happy though...today we had a thanksgiving dinner with our main game design/animation/vfx group of friends in school....it was really awesome. We may not always get along and we may be a brash, sarcastic, crude bunch of people. But on days like these, we really are all close friends. It made me smile. Plus, it was organized by a friend who is switching schools, so it was the last big thing we could do as a group. They may annoy me sometimes, but I really love that group of people : ) for one of the first times, I feel like a true college kid - hanging out with pals in a friend's dorm, playing games, and being total idiots (lol pure sugar shots since we are all underage and the cinnamon challenge)
