Well, blue name lets you post on the calendar or something. But yeah, it doesn't do very much.
Researcher doesn't need to do anything; it can be something to show your passion for Pokémon.
It doesn't harm us to try and think of a role, Tery, but some people seem to think that if we don't have a role, the group should be terminated immediately. Plus, thus far no one seems to have any ideas.

This, so much this. Which is why, as Spire posted, the name should be changed to Pokemon Master.
Of course, with the upcoming arrival of our own Shoddy server, we could probably fix something with that in mind.

I think, for the most part, some names are rewards and others are jobs.
Jobs - Directors, Debaters, Moderators, That Group that's Cyan that I can't Remember
Rewards- Writers, Prank, Membership
So I mean, i really think that Researchers should be ....a job...

Director isn't really a job. You can host a tourney without the status, you get it for hosting a tourney. As I recall, you got the status for hosting a spriting tourney.
Cyan is Smash Researcher. They research aspects of Smash, but we have nothing to research and trying to do so would be moot because even once we have new things to research, Smogon has us outdone twice over. It's like when we used to have the Strategy Pokédex, it felt fairly useless because it was practically a copy-paste from Smogon to here.
I don't really see why Researcher has to be a job (or, as we should begin calling it, Pokémon Master), and unless you have suggestions, I don't even see how it can be.

Smash Researcher doesn't do anything. Like literally it shouldn't even be around.
Pokémon Researcher/Master should be a reward. Like Firus said, what are you going to research? Keeping it a job will do nothing.

I'm just waiting for 8000 and 9001. 8000 would be my ideal post to begin SmashCAP 3, while 9001 will be when I host a Gimmicks-Only Tournament.

I only request that something actually get done, as oppossed to what happened to the Debate Hall.
If they are too busy and can't get in to code and give us an icon, if they can't diverge us up into subforums, AT LEAST give us a new colour and a change in our title in a short matter of time.
Also, one final thought about the pokemon subdex. A new gen is about to come out, providing us with new system changes, new pokemon, and new moves. It may very well prove valuable to keep it around, as we attempt to compete with Smogon for creating the best sets the fastest, and strive for creativity, breathing new light into the 5th gen metagame.

There will be room for that in the replacement for The Rating Room. Remember, Smogon has far more members than the Poke Center does, members that are almost all incredibly well versed in Pokemon lingo (not saying you guys aren't, but not all of us are - like myself). We may find out new strategies first, but what does it really matter so long as those strategies are found out by SOMEONE and made available on the internet? Ultimately, no one is going to care from who the strategy originates, and furthermore, we're not a staple in the online Pokemon strategy community. We're a staple in the online Smash Bros. community. We have our own thing going here and we should focus on it, not how we compare to colossi like Smogon and Serebii.
So to reiterate: there will be room for you to make strategies for Smash Boards and anyone who visits it, but we will not try to compete with the big guys.
SWF isn't recognized as a Legend of Zelda timeline/theory breeding ground even though we have quite a lot of that, nor do I think it ever will be. That's just the nature of things.

Oh, I'm not saying that we'll takeover smogon's niche by any means, nor will we take over Serebii's in game cling either. I'm simply stating that those who say that our research section is pointless are being a little silly, especially when a bomb is about to be dropped on us towards the end of the year.

Pokemon Researchers... I do believe that they'll (hopefully me included after the reform... I feel lonely D: ) have plenty to look at after B/W is released. Smogon may be the super-mega-hueg competitive site, but it's not like they can think of everything.
I think that bringing back the Strategy Dex after fifth gen's release sounds quite valid.

You underestimate the power of mods and the need to suck up to them. =P

If Spire had posted either of those two instead of "Pokemon Master" I would have been fine.
