About having Lip in Smash, would anyone else feel a bit disheartened to have to fight her?
Having to fight someone like Isabelle would make me wince, but having to send Lip flying away into the distance? I don’t know if I could get myself to do it to her.

Smash Bros didn't stop me from lighting princesses on fire or hit 12 year old psychic kids in the head with a baseball bat so why should this be any different? In the end, they're all living trophies and the game is about as violent as playing with action figures.

It was the same thing with Simon Belmont. He was one of my most wanted but Richter and Alucard were the guys I preferred.

I would be fine with the series being called Puzzle League outside japan, but I think it thematically doesn't fit, it removes the fantasy element.
Panel de Pon would be too japanese, though they kept "Tomodachi" in Tomodachi Life/Collection so it may not be a problem

Puyo Pop was renamed to Puyo Puyo ouside of Japan when localizing the Tetris crossover, so I think it should apply to Pdp also. That is how Smash represents the Pdp universe in the first place, reskins are not really mentioned except fot TA in the Lip's Stick trophy.
I wonder if most people want the fairy aesthetic for a new game or another reskin.

I mean, imagine if we got a story mode for each of the fairies and they'd all have their own ending like the characters get in TSS:

I refunded that game on Steam because I of the slow down which is part of the game. There was also a 2nd game in the series with a new cast. Maybe if the game comes out on Switch, I'll consider buying that game again. That game series hasn't gotten a new entry after the 2nd game.

Some of the characters look like some characters from those animes, especially the main character of that game.

It also had a sequel on the PS2 that nobody knows about because it's Japan-only. Can't say if it's good or not.

Since we're on the subject magical girls, anyone played Grief Syndrome? It's Madoka Magica as a run 'n gun / sorta beat'em up hybrid. And it's free.

I think he meant if there was a case where a third party rep of the same genre got in over a first/second party rep of the same rep, in this case puzzle games.

I honestly feel that if Panel de Pon comes back at full force as its own identity, it wouldn’t necessarily need Tetris Attack as a major part of it.
I was thinking in my idea for a modern Panel de Pon game, in Lip’s flower world, there could be a classic arcade machine with Tetris Attack in it somewhere as a neat throwback feature for those who have played Tetris Attack before. The player (as Lip) would be able to interact with the machine and play the original Tetris Attack. Kind of like a game in a game.

(In fact, maybe the game having some nods here and there to other old Nintendo puzzle titles here and there would be a good idea.)

I LOVE this game, it's one of my all time favorite games!
The gameplay concept is so clever and innovative that I wonder why nobody based a different game on it... as far as I know, only a Touhou game (Phantasmagoria of Flower View) did it and nothing else.

Anyway, I had a chance to play the PS2 version, and I didn't like it as the original... I had the impression that they made it slower and less competitive/more random... in other words they casualized it. Maybe it's just my impression, and it has been many years ago so I can't remember.
The original is a masterpiece anyway.

If I remember, I have read somewhere that SNK did a third game for this franchise, and it was on mobile (can't remember but probably it was on Symbian, not even Android), but it was a more traditional shooter without the 2 screens gimmick. I'm not sure of this anyway, and I never had a chance to even see a screenshot of the game, so I know nothing.

Definitely another franchise I'd like to see revived and modernized a la Puyo Puyo.
I think that this game is underrated and unknown by many players because of the cute characters and the magical girl theme, a lot of people tend to have prejudices on stuff like that, sadly (the same reason why Nintendo removed the fairies from Panel de Pon probably); I think if it was about military airplanes, bombs and war, it would have been as well known as Metal Slug , this is just wrong.

EDIT: anyway, Windjammers 2 gives me some hope...

Its gameplay was fairly unique as well, the only other game to do that since then is Rival Shmup Megagun.

And yet, the Fantastic Four never got to appear, even though some of their enemies (Dr. Doom and Super Skrull) did. In 4 games, Capcom. 4 games.

I remember reading that it was French or something, from an interview. It was a long time ago so my memory is hazy and I lost the link. I'll try to find it when I get home, and watch the new video

Just finished it, and as usual it was great and funny. That Snake codec was great and made me realize if she was only in Brawl, we could have gotten an official Lip codec too...
I expected more Arle cameo, but that end of the video where the uploader hints at more Lip x Arle made me think; does he know more than we think? hmm.
Also what if Lip were to revealed in Ultimate alongside Arle in the same trailer? Would be neat.
