The thing is, I actually liked the idea of what 3.33 was kind of about. The problem was the content and how it was executed. They wasted away too much time on skipping some of the important things and the tone felt like a poorly emulated version of the TV series. 3.33 certainly brought up a lot of speculation about
possible time loops/worlds
, so we'll see where that goes.

Who knows, maybe I'll appreciate it more after I rewatch it. I liked it, but I expected more.

The ED themes for K-ON! progressively get even better after each one (excluding the movie), IMO. And it seems that whenever someone new to anime comes into this thread having enjoyed Death Note, the next thing everyone suggests is Code Geass. I, myself, happened to have started watching anime seriously with Death Note, then went to Code Geass as it was another showed that aired around the same time that shared some similarities.
Shouldn't Code Geass just be recommended to everyone for being awesome, no matter whether they enjoyed Death Note or not? :D (I started the later sometime, but it didn't really catch my attention, and I didn't end up finishing it, or being interested in Anime in general... The show that actually did that for me was Yuru Yuri (which probably explains a lot :D))

I don't know what qualifies as getting into anime seriously. At least by the standards of people here.

Haha, for me the exact "definition" probably is rather irrelevant, because I'd fit them all... before Yuru Yuri I had seen two Miyazaki films (pretty hard to avoid those even without watching anime :D), as mentioned Death Note and lastly Berserk (because two different people independently kept saying how great it was)... well, and ever since I've been watching a lot of stuff (nearly 2h of anime per day for the last year, whoa :D)

I think like most people in the US, I really got into anime when there was Toonami and anime on Fox (like Digimon and Escaflowne). Anything before that was either just Dragon Ball and random anime you'd find like Ronin Warriors and Samurai Pizza Cats that I'd watch. I lived in Europe for a bit, but the anime I watched there was again Dragon Ball. I don't know if I even watched anime at Japan lol.

I got into manga in middle school when the US finally got Jump.

What is Yuru Yuri about?

I watched the first episode of Code Geass. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the stylish characters. The reveal of the secret weapon surprised me (looked like some generic bomb to me); I did not see that coming. Speaking of surprises, every time I watch another episode of Death Note Light shocks me for showing no mercy. It’s weird because he’s presented as the main protagonist to you with motives that have good intentions for what he does which lead me to think he was the good guy, but my opinion is slowly changing.

Not quite as cute as k-on, but more hilarious :D

Oh right: I'm not sure whether it's something I'd recommend to people just getting into Anime and not having seen too much. I for one really, really liked it, but it generally hasn't been that well received I think. Steins;Gate would probably be a safer bet, because just about everybody loves that one, and it's just as hilarious (just in a different way ;) ).

Eva 3.33 was not good. Being one of the biggest Eva fanboys in this thread I was really saddened at the direction the movie took. Hopefully something beastly comes out of Final. If not I'm just going to say Rebuild ended after 2.22 because I actually really liked it.

Oreimo ending so good.

I can understand why a lot of people might not like the direction it went but come on, have you seen the name of the anime?! I mean if you're watching this and have something against sibling love then wtf you are stupid. I for one love the ending not just for the ending itself but for the fact that the author actually had the guts to do what he wanted to do and didn't cop out and make some ****ty other route ending.

Oreimo is now officially my 6th favorite anime of all time.

You mean Manami master race
The only character in the show i really wanted to punch in the face, hard.

Also concerning the ending...
Quite disappointing from an ideological point of view.

So they get together and all but chicken out again without giving any sensible explanation. Kyousuke apparently "knows that it's wrong" going into an argument about social norms being right because following them is necessary for a happy life. Kind of like "it's wrong to be a transvestite cause the other kids will beat you up for it". Good reasoning there.

As pretty much all other serious polygon-romance Anime i've seen the show also quite impressively propagates the idea (or myth rather) of the strictly monogamous human species. Also in comparison to incest this is something that actually affects more than a handful of people...

I liked the ending. I don't think the anime did the best job on the ending or even the series to be honest. The anime was mostly good on the parts that were traditional harem comedy. But anything serious was done poorly, rushed, or entirely skipped like Kyousuke's past. It also doesn't help that the anime makes Kirino seems worse than she is, especially it's adapting everything that Kyousuke thinks of Kirino, not what's always happening.

I wasn't exactly happy with the ending at first, but rereading it made me understand it and appreciate it more. Especially with how everything built up and hinted things in the novels.

They don't exactly chicken out. In the novels, you get a slightly better idea that they stay together, they just realize that going public with it would bring a lot of hurdles, so they can't do anything else but keep it a secret from everyone. The main reason is especially because it would hurt his family the most.

The author pretty much went as far as he could while not changing his true intent on the ending. It's a Kirino end. The anime removed too many hints on this and even altered things.

@Minato: I guess it's hardly a surprise if the original work is superior to the adaptation. Still unfortunate though...
