Project M is terrible.
Project M is fun, but overhyped
P:M tried too hard imo.
EDIT: Even to this day Brawl- is the only hack worth playing.
no

Project M is amazing. Only newbs with awful tech skill don't like Project M ;)

Project M is ridiculously underhyped. It ***** Brawl's and Melee's gameplay so badly, it hurts... Especially the former.
wow, you're seriously disturbed if you think Brawl- is a good hack. Project M all day, *****!!
Project M ***** Brawl, Brawl-, Melee and Smash64 in various ways.
I installed project M the other day (felt super geeky <3) and I think I'm playing that exclusively from now on. :)
yes

...

that is all.

I recycled a costume from like 3 years ago and went as a vampire last minute. It was tons of bar hopping up and down the street, seeing tons of people in costumes everywhere lol :3

I have been messing around with Project M. Given what it has tried to achieve, I think they have done a ****ing amazing job. The move set designs for new characters are ****ing flawless. The mechanics feel really tight.

I have a lot of problems with melee's design though, which have naturally translated to me having the same problems with project M's design. Good: tech skill being very clearly visible and beneficial. Bad: tech skill floor requirement to even start learning to play a game. You can play melee without every l-cancelling for example, but if you're playing against someone who can, you're going to probably lose, even if the other guy isn't very good either. There's also no reason to ever not l-cancel, making it not so much a choice, but a chance to mess up every time you land.

L-cancelling discussion has been done a million times over though and it isn't really what I'm complaining about by itself. A game can be technically challenging and I'm OK with that, because some audiences really enjoy that kind of gameplay, but Melee's baseline skill floor was too high, and maybe Brawl's was too low.

A good tech skill barrier is one that allows you to learn while playing, whereas in melee (and project m) you tend to just lose badly over and over again until you've achieved a set of skills that you practiced for hours. Once you're there, melee's fun and super rewarding, but I don't see a the time-to-reward ratio as being very good, personally.

Also, Project M's menu screens are ****ing ugly as ****. *****es please. Should have just left them like Brawl's

Actually L canceling gives the defender (say you aerial on shield) a chance to force the attacker to mess up. Such as by angling the shield up or by light shielding. But anyways, this discussion isn't allowed anymore as its something that's not going to change. It was tried in Brawl+. They have a reason for not including it.

I never understood why people have such a problem with brawl's approach in regards to landing aerials. Some aerials aren't safe when you land. Others cancel with good timing. Some are meant to be huge commitments, some are better for starting strings. What's the problem?

Brawl's approach? You mean, other than slowing down the game and making almost nothing safe on shield (except for, ya'know, MK, whose everything is safe)?

They took out Wario's bike.

It's one thing to harmonize the two games, but it's another to **** Brawl's entire essence and take out Wario's ****ing bike.

the developers stole it and sold the parts for some coding software. gave him a rushing brawl forward smash to compensate

:phone:
I never understood why Wario's moveset in normal Brawl wasn't more inspired by his antics and moves in the Wario Land titles. So many more varied and interesting options to play with...

They took out his bike because it made his recovery epicly gay.

Also, I WAS talking about landing lag on aerials. Being you know, non-reducible in brawl as opposed to every other official iteration of the series and P:M.

Hm how's this idea? I noticed my Peach gets harassed a lot off stage (especially MK) so lately whenever I get sent off stage, I'll b-reverse Toad to face backward. This way, if somebody tries approaching, Peach can hope to fight back with bair instead of a laggy fair.

Isn't fair a better option vs MK off-stage though? Bair can't really beat any of MK's off-stage harass. :\

I'm not really sure... I think Meta Knight can outrange Peach but her crown smack takes forever to activate. Of course, this isn't limited to MK. There are some other characters that can harass Peach offstage pretty well like G&W (imo, anyway).
