I find it hard to care for new Silent Hills, The last decent one was Homecoming(that's a compliment). The series lost its soul when the original team disbanded after 4: The Room + Akira Yamaoka leaving.

Western dev teams just can't do Japanese horror. With each game they make, they're either trying to spinoff and emulate Silent Hill 1 or 2.

2 is the most emotional, 3 is the best made one(imo ofc). 4 happens to be my personal favorite.

I loved Silent Hill 2 was build up scary, and Silent Hill 3 was straight scary.
Two completely different play styles, but still the best games.
