Haha, good man. The first 40 minutes are a bit slow, it's mostly just shredding Supersize Me. The second half will make you go 0_o

I love trolling vegetarians now.

I've been on a keto diet + P90 workout routine for a little over three week sand have lost 22 pounds. The 15 pounds prior to that was over three months of calorie counting. Even when I stopped working out cause I caught a cold I kept losing weight just eating a ton of fat. My dinner tonight was a bacon/bell pepper/onion/cheese omelette fried in bacon fat.

I like food so much more since I turned to a no carb diet! People are always like, "woah, you can't have pizza??" but the food I'm cooking tastes sooo much better! Screw nonfat cheese, dry sauces and butter replacements!

*high fives*

The "saturated fat causes heart disease" myth is so prevalent...that's the worst thing about this diet, that people call you stupid when you say what it is. The lobbyists will keep perpetuating it, too.

I cook everything with bacon fat now. I go olive oil when I don't have time to cook bacon first, haha.

Yeah man it sucks, people look at you like you're crazy when you tell them what you eat. And they're usually fat and judging you, lol.

I think they're trying to excuse themselves...like, "Well, I might be fat, but you'll get heart disease so there"

Could also be partially because people are pretty conditioned that saturated fat causes heart disease and to view anything outside of what they're used to as a fad diet.

Don't see a need to buy the lard though...you can add bacon to almost anything, so I just cook bacon first :) And I always keep olive oil to use for a salad dressing. I should probably buy butter, almost never use it and it's great for a ketogenic diet.

You do keto too (<20g carbs a day), or a basic low carb?

I started keto 5 months ago after watching fathead. I was already in pretty good shape, but i wanted to see how much further it would take me. I cut out bread, cereal, wheat in general and have never looked back. I eat eggs, bacon and sausage every morning, and plenty of meat and veggies. I did plenty of studying about diet and food and im no longer lchf. I found out about "safe starches", which are nessasary for intense training. I eat rice and potatoes now, and man is it nice to have when you lift weights.
If only your health affected your smash game, i would be the next Ken, lol.

I'd be down to go on that diet if I ever have the need.

EDIT: What percentage of the diet/plan is fat?
The point of a keto diet is to put your body in ketosis (burning fat for fuel), which means you have to deprive it pretty solidly of carbohydrates. Less than 20g a day of carbs or you won't go in to ketosis. There's usually a day or two of feeling flu-like because the body is depleted of glucose (the blood sugar that carbs get broken down to) and is waiting for you to eat more carbs; then it starts producing ketones (byproduct of breaking down fat) instead of glucose.

People usually write the breakdown as 60% fat, 30% protein, 10% carbs, but that's if we don't count the vegetables. Veggies have a lot of fiber, which is a carb that doesn't count; fiber doesn't produce an insulin response and isn't processed by the body like grains/sugar.

Basically, take a normal diet breakdown and just replace all the carbs with fat. You still need protein for muscle building and repair, you still need vegetables for vitamins and nutrition, but fat is now the primary fuel.

Yessss! I'm nearing the end of my first month, doing Power90 with it. I eat eggs and cottage cheese for breakfast, then alternate between veggie or meat meals (or both). As much bacon as possible. Bacon included if I fry veggies. Best I've ever been, health-wise. Glad to hear a longer term success story :) I will eventually go to low carb (non-keto...allowances for stuff like potatoes) for maintenance when I hit my goal weight. This is the first time in my life I've had defined biceps, haha.

I actually just watched Fat Head a few days ago for the first time; discovered the keto diet through internet readings, researched heavily, decided to try it, and found Fat Head when looking for a good way to explain it to people.

Thanks!! :)
I'm gonna start blogging it on AiB when I hit my goal weight...only about eight pounds off. I was 225 a few months ago...210 when I started keto. 188 now, going for 180 (6 feet tall). I would love to help others, and I can't wait to rub it in tommy's vegan face. He'll have a cow. Then I'll eat it.

Valdens was pretty inspiring too...he lost a ton of weight, probably a hundred pounds, calorie counting. My region's on a roll.

Did he use this diet as well?

Anyway I just finished the video. I loved it and I'm happy I took the time to watch it. I almost didn't, but I was like 'what the hell, why not'. Over time, in my life, I've actually seen/heard bits of most things he talked about, but he really put it together for me. A lot of things make sense now.

Nah, he just calorie counted. I just told him about keto today. Calorie counting does work because, well, you're lowering your food intake, so you'll lose weight. I just think calorie counting is slower and harder than keto, because you'll be constantly craving food and carbs (as opposed to keto, which reduces appetite since your body will just burn fat since it's geared for it) and can't eat to satisfaction. Plus, keto spares muscles better. You're still taking in the "wrong" calories when you calorie count, but you're taking in less of them. The hard part about keto is saying no when you go out with friends for a beer and bar food.

(Of course, you can still have scotch and whiskey, so it's not all bad ;) )

Glad you watched the video! Education FTW :) It'll change your perspective on the things you see/hear...especially ads. I kind of feel bad for overweight friends and coworkers I see struggling on low fat diets.

The more difficult parts for me will probably be steering away from Subway(I eat this A LOT. It's my favorite fast food place) and Pizza.

My family also eats a lot of pasta and rice. Dinner always includes one or the other.

Then again I could always just work on portion control.

Worst case, you could always do low carb...just cut back on the carbs. It's not nearly as effective as keto, but it is effective. The guy in the movie did a low carb McDonalds diet, excepting the last ten minutes of semi-keto; he didn't touch the fries, didn't eat/drink anything with sugar in it, but he did eat the burgers with the buns on.

At Subway, you can ask them to scoop the bread and they'll scoop out the fluff from it. IMO this actually makes the toasted sandwiches taste a lot better. Or get the flatbread, slightly lower carb. When your family makes dinner, cut the portions down.

Heck, even if you're just counting calories, carb sources are calorie heavy. Scooping the bread makes it lower calorie too.

But if you can do keto, I recommend doing keto...carb cravings totally vanish within a week. Sugar doesn't seem even remotely appealing. If you're doing keto, you can even- blasphemously- replace Subway with McDonalds, since McDonalds will server you the burger in a plastic container wrapped in lettuce if you ask for it with no bun. I had a bun less McDouble for lunch today in honor of that movie (first time eating there in over a year I think!). No carbs (well, minuscule amount of sugar in the ketchup, but not enough to knock me out of ketosis), meat, cheese and lettuce.

You people and your fancy diets. I ran to lose my chub flub. I'm still so fat though :(

Also Whobo looks like a lot of fun. If I have the money (doubt it, but we can hope) then I'd go.

Relius is interesting, I'm definitely gonna give him a try. I've always liked Carl, but I don't have the attention span for two characters, at least Relius just uses his chick as a weapon more than an extra character to fight with.

Like, he warps her in, she's not even in the battle unless he calls her.
