Holy *bleep*ing *bleep* at some of these Noel combos. They're just...so beautiful. :bee:

And also, it seems Nico's using 720p now.
Entirely unrelated note: but is anyone else liking the way the holsters on Noel look when she fights. It gives visual depth to her sprite so you can really tell exactly what she's doing now as she twists around during Chain Revolver (even if you don't play as her), idk something about it is great.

Rutger, can you tell me some basics I need to know about Relius? I want to get a grounding in his stuff before CP, I'm looking to branch out and really like his style.

General tips, some staple combos (mid screen 5B/2A confirms, throws, **** with meter, etc)

I want to learn him but his challenge mode combos seem like they might be kinda impractical.

(I will also of course be using Dustloop, but I find talking to others helps a lot for basics)

I gotta admit that I like that they did that too. It also storyline makes sense since they're most likely just imitation Bolverks now and as such she can't simply "summon them out of nowhere" anymore.

No. 00 > and > Izayoi?

/inb4sayaisplayablecharacter

I'm tellin' ya, in no way would I be remotely surprised if Saya became a playable character. Actually...I'm almost kinda expecting it.

Involves a reset, 50 meter, and a burst. Almost certainly Tager specific, but still.

Heh, heh, heh.

Whew....oh thank the gaming gods.

And I totally didn't even see that edit Lythi did when I was doing up my response, so hey. Actually...on second thought I don't think it'd even been edited at that point. No derp for me!

Learn to manage your Ignis meter. Not really hard, but you don't want to find yourself with Ignis out of order.

For combos I'm not really sure how they will change in CP, but I personally like use as little of my Ignis meter as possible because I like to have Ignis around while in neutral or for pressure. You could choose to go for damage instead but you will have to put Ignis away more often, both seem viable though. I should probably work on some of the more damaging combos myself for when they would be useful, but these two combos I what I use the most.

Midscreen, assuming Ignis is out, I like to go with:
5B > 5C > 2D > 66 > 6B > j.B > j.C > j.236C > j.214A/B > ad

Damage is 2850, Heat Gain is 26, and it only uses 2000 of Ignis' meter.

and in the corner, regardless of if Ignis is out, I go with:
5B > 5C > 236C > 236A > 66 > 6B > j. 236C > 2C > 6C > 4D > 3C

Damage: 3772, Heat: 32, and 2000 of Ignis' meter. After the 3C you can either take the Oki, or add 632146D for damage, 4847.

Find what works for you, if you want damage I'm sure you can make it work.

Thanks a bunch, I appreciate that

Speaking outside of combos, how do you usually try to play the neutral game? Are there specific situations or moves you try to open people up with? What about defensively?

It's been a while since I played a lot, so my advice will not be perfect, oh well.

When my opponent is around mid-screen and farther away I like to use 214A, it's a great spacing tool but you can get hit out easily if they are close, 5B, 2B, and 6D are better when they are close. I like to use j.B and sometimes j.A while in the air, the j.D moves can be good as well. 214B is good for anyone trying to stay fullscreen away from you, but don't use it too often

It's mostly frametraps when I try to open them up, so I will use Ignis a lot. You can try for an unblockable set up with either 236D and an overhead or 214D and a low, but I only really go for those in the corner and they can be avoided easily. 214C can be a great tool as well and if you manage to start a combo with it you will get great damage. 6A is your only standing overhead and is pretty slow, use it with Ignis imo. 3C is a sweep that is jump cancelable on block.

Defensively, 2C has head invul and will FC, so it can be a good AA but it can also be hard to hit with it, 6B can also work as an AA but is not as good. All his supers can be used as reversals, 632146C/D and his Astral have in invincibility frames, 236236D will trade but Ignis will keep going making it favorable for you. There is also his dodge, 236A, which is not that great on it's own, but if Ignis is out then you can use any D normal at the same time, 6D is the best. being on the defensive without Ignis or meter is tough for Relius.

That's all I can think of right now.

Edit: here are everyones extra colors and some other stuff.

Azrael's Kamina color...
Welp, new sub.

Oh, and Bang has a Goku color.

I like CP's palettes.

Fml, after getting sick and missing Thanksgiving now I'm stuck on this cycle where I wake up in the AMs and pass out by 4ish... which means I can barely play BB with anyone! #firstworldproblems

@Lyth: I was wondering what they were hinting at with "No. 00" myself, whether a character reveal or just a story mode element. I know for a fact one of my buddies would be super hype for a playable Saya.

Basically in my mind it's either:

Amaterasu (most likely since I believe it was previously heavily implied that the first prime field device became Amaterasu, though I could be mistaken)

Saya (also quite plausible, if not the original than the Imperator depending on plot lines)

or Izayoi (hilariously out there plot twist Poobaki was a murakumo all awong oh mawh gard)

Amaterasu isn't a person though, it's a thing (I think).

Saya would make sense, since she's the original.

Izayoi is Tsubaki from an alternate timeline, not a Murakumo.

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the video say "No.00 and..." and then show Izayoi, suggesting 2 separate people?

Well, it did say that, but it's hard to know what they mean by it.

Also, No. 00 was in purple, and Saya predominantly wears purple. I'm thinking final boss, but this is all just speculation anyway, so...

Here are three Arcade modes subbed by someone named Sourenga, if anyone is interested.

Azrael: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH4s2FyY6Vg
Tsubaki: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-vnkPAIIRA
Bang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYtqc0O-FRY

Azrael is awesome, Tsubaki is brainwashed, and Bang is important. :3

Here is some day one Nu as well.

For some reason I remember Amaterasu and the first prime field being linked as an entity. I'm probably just remembering it wrong, but for some reason I was under the impression the very first one became Amaterasu. Considering Amaterasu is supposed to be linked to Tskuyomi etc. I'm almost certainly misremembering the facts since it's been so long since I've dealt with story mode discussion. Saya hype a-gogo. (Moar swords please)

(I know about Izayoi's actual backstory, but hilarious discussion >= actual)

Well, Nu is out, but I haven't seen any videos.

We do have Amane's Astral on her though.

That. Is. Adorable.

EDIT: A Yuno palette you say? I guess I know which one I'll use when I pick Nu from random or for fun :3

It feels more difficult after each game to stick with Rachel for me. Not sure if I like her changes either in CP.
Still, she's Rachel though, and she's got a Kuroneko color. Kinda feel obligated to stick with it.

Maybe I'll go the Spelt route and just use everyone on the side.

And I'll be surprised if the day ever comes where Rachel beats Nu in a matchup chart. :ohwell:

Yeah. I've pretty much gotten less and less interested in her through every iteration. I will probably never stop playing her altogether, but she hasn't been my most played character since like cs1 even though I technically still consider her my main.

Lots of rachels that disappeared during EX are coming back now though, and that's exciting. Still haven't seen YAMA/Matsu yet though. :(
