You know what's the best feeling? When you finally beat out a zoner online as Ragna. Or defy all odds against an Arakune who curses you, only to Astral him to oblivion.

GGs Kuraudo, you win 2-0.

Some of my worst playing in those first few matches, I doubt Tao would have started out better.

I started playing better after a few casuals, and landing that Astral with Valk right after getting kicked out of the tournament felt good. :3

Ragna caught me off guard quite a bit, I don't really have any matchup exp there.

It's okay, I wasn't doing so hot either. We did what we could with the connection and it got better!

And you're welcome for that Astral. ......not that I planned it or anything. Just worked out. LOL We both had a cool Astral moment. Catch you on your burst animation in Black Onslaught and you...just kick my **** in.

Yeah, Ragna is a big footsies character mixed with rushdown. Truth be told despite the blue-beating, that was about the closest I've gotten to a completed Blood Kain combo. You're amazing at catching grabs, especially online. Good stuff. I swear I don't grab as much offline. lol

I've got some Valk and Tao experience. Mostly Tao, but she's hard to catch sometimes. lol

Ragna's range, I just wasn't expecting it.

Ever, that damn 5b.

Walking right into it, and never learning. :(

Yeah, the connection turned out better than I expected for a 1.

As for the grabs, I could tell when you would go for one fairly often, it was pretty predictable. I still ended up missing quite a few thanks to the lag though. :/

I airthrow a loooooot. :079:
People get mad at me because of it.

I don't normal throw that much, but I should start doing it more. Especially since Jin's mixups are throw.

Sorry guys. I'll be sure to give out netplay only advice for matchups in the future.
So Rutger, you needed to do more 2A on wakeup like it's Melty along with mashing throw. Overhead every chance you get and most people can't do anything about it online. Wakeup super even if you don't have enough to rapid out of it. You should start feeling like a pro after a few matches.

Amusing how you guys mentioned before about Ragna not being too much of a threat than he seems because of IB yet I get called out for it now even if it's just generic advice. lol

Edit: Asami Imai's Type B doesn't sound too bad. I like it.

I wasn't trying to call you out. :(

I do think it's unrealistic to expect much out of netplay though. Let's face it, from what I've heard from this thread, we have maybe two or three people here who play offline on a regular basis. So, technically, it's good advice to say that you should learn to IB stuff, but it's just not always possible depending on the player's resources.

Unless they make their own scene. /shrug

This sounds kind of angry. :(

I don't really want netplay only advice, I already have a problem of getting stuck in habits enough when I'm playing so I don't want to develop really bad ones. The lag is something I have to live with when I play netplay but I'm not so desperate for wins on it, even though netplay is far from a perfect environment I still want to use it as a way to try to truly improve in whatever way I can.

I will take your earlier generic advice though, IB really is something I need to work on.

Nah, I wasn't angry. There was sarcasm in there for sure, but I didn't take anything personally. And it wasn't towards anyone directly, haha.

For IB, yeah, I know it's not reliable on lag. I do suggest doing it on a projectile here and there just to get in the habit of it. Same with on blockstrings. I remember being harassed by ice car Jins and his 6b (?) in CT. Someone told me to just IB. I thought it'd be too hard online but I adjusted to it. Just do an earlier IB so that you'll at least block if you failed to instant block.

As for utilizing online, it is pretty helpful if you know how to use it. Like if the opponent fails at blocking overheads or throws, I'll instead try and focus on doing CH setups or combos starting from anti-airs.

That's why I don't do wake-up supers or mash 2A online on wake-up. I usually find myself in the habit of jumPing away or rolling away after laying on the ground for a while. Kinda like mind gaming in Smash. Lol

Something that's cheap though? Spamming Dead Spike in block strings online. I'm guilty of that lol

I have used IB in some matches and it was great, but I don't always think about it in the middle of a match, add in my reluctance to use it in netplay lag and I have a bad habit. :(

Just something I have to work on, along with my godawful execution.

As for Ragna, he has been giving me trouble ever since CS2 came out, something about his changes has really messed me up. I haven't fought many either so my exp is lacking.

lots of ragnas online spam dead spike in the corner but barely any of them actually attempt to stop you from jumping out of the corner so it ends up being very easy to beat.

DP Ragna is the best Ragna \o/
Cross up air DP has to be my favorite mixup with Ragna. lol
How is that cheap? Your opponent couldn't punish it if they wanted to, it's +3 on block.
I think he means because of the long start up. If you're doing blockstring into Dead Spike on an opponent that doesn't mash, they're going to be losing a lot of guard primers.
And there's a chance that once they do see the Dead Spike coming, they'll mash too late and get CH'ed.

You can play my Ragna. I'm still getting used to using his CS2 form again so that might be a bit easier for you to get eased into the matchup.
My connection on my PS3 is a bit smoother now, so maybe the lag won't be too bad.

This. CH'ed Dead Spike = easy 5B follow-up for a combo. Sometimes dead spike strings can be legit, but mixing it up is obvious. DP Ragna is good and all, but it's SO easy to read it coming too. I do it all the time against Ragnas online that try and mix up wake ups.

I like to either just block and force them in a bad situation if they don't have a rapid, or just jump when I approach them so that when I block the Inferno Divider, I can just counter with my own into the wall for a corner advantage combo.
