Yeah, i'm sure we both would've been much better at combos if it weren't for the random laggy moments, but oh well. :p

& Okay. I can imagine taking that big of a break from the game would make it a bit difficult to get into again.

Traveling to a tournament tomorrow! Should be awesome, except I'm pretty sure there's nothing else to do in Saint John.

I GUESS I'LL ENTER ALL THE TOURNAMENTS.

No, I won't, but still.

Thanks! And yes, most definitely. I'll have to beat his stupid Jin to a pulp with Noel bull****.

I'm really hoping that they record matches. And they said they would let me do commentary as well...

Ooo, I can't wait to see both your matches and commentary. :bee:
Plus your boyfriend's matches too, I love me some jin action.

Good luck at the tournament, Lythium! I'm actually travelling to T12 in Toronto at the end of the month so I'm all pumped and nervous for that. Kick some butt wherever you're going!

Oh, and also, good read on your Light House interview.

Thanks! I'd like to go to T12, but it's a bit beyond me at the moment. I'm hoping to get to Montreal in January or whenever they have Nemesis. And I'm going to Saint John, NB, I don't even know if anyone there plays BB, but they're hosting a BB tournament, so... yay?

And thanks! :bee:

No problem. I'm assuming you're going to Fight for Infinity, so kick some 'eh' while you're there (or would 'tear them a new icehole' be more appropriate?). If a stream shows up for it, I'll link it in here so we can cheer ya on.

And bizarrely enough, when I clicked on the "click for updates" link coldkind posted in the SRK thread about it, I think I randomly/accidentally stumbled onto your FB. Uh....sorry?

Yeah, there was some thing about tournament info, and when I clicked the 'more' button, I guess you had a comment/reply to something below. Oh well, it's less weird than the one guy who was like "is this you?" and randomly found my grade 8 class's graduation picture....and he was from somewhere in the States, lol.

Edit: But yeah, I'd imagine the main thing on going to tournaments is just having fun and hanging out and all that. I can only really speculate though since the only ones I've been to have been the Ottawa ones.

So uhh... hi o.o
I started playing BB online with my Xbox LIVE account today...
Holy crap I have a lot to learn ._.
But just a quick question:
Does Noel need to start every move with D or was I playing a noob? Because literally every time I approached as Ragna (or even when she approached me), she was using a D combo (was close but I lost).

It's just online, lol.
Lots of dumb things happen on netplay.
Noel does get a lot of damage from her D attacks but using them all of the time is really predictable and punishable, you just gotta learn how to deal with them, which will take some time.

I suggest doing Ragna's challenges, and once you got those down you can start learning the more advance combos on the Ragna combo thread on dustloop.

Alright haha. I punished her attacks a lot but I couldn't space correctly so I just lost (she had like, 10% life left).

I don't main Ragna btw, I main Tao, second Mu, and third Ragna. I would've used Mu/Tao but I don't have Mu unlocked on my new account (which I need for free live though I plan on getting full live) and I was afraid to use Tao. Thanks for the advice though ^^

Oh okay, well challenges are a good way to learn any character's combos that you're interested in. :p & You're welcome!

d.5A is frame advantage iirc. Or maybe it was d.6A I forget \o/.

EDIT: Nvm, it is if you cancel it with another drive which is derp.

The least punishable drive attack is assault through....which is -9 X:
But then theres optic barrel to cancel into which is -3

How was the tournament? :lick:
Starts today at 11:30!

Got here last night. Went to a Japanese restaurant, couple of nerdy places (bought a MtG event deck for lulz, an Atelier game for the DS, and Eva figurine). Came back to the hotel, and played casuals and drank forever. No BB yet though. They managed to stuff 3 TVs into one room, and like, 20 people. So, there was some AE, MvC3, and 3S. Good times so far!

Really? When am I able to punish?
You can punish the start-up of any of Noel's B or C drives. They're so slow that most characters can jab or DP out of it. Or you can wait for her to reload if she doesn't finish it with anything. All of her enders are unsafe too, with the exception of Optic Barrel.

It's a risk/reward thing though. I mean, a smart Noel with try to frame trap you with her A drive moves. And for example, say Ragna keeps DPing out of her drive, she can stuff it with a 4D.

Aren't basically all of her drive moves minus on block?
Yep.

Assault Through the least punishable? Yeah...as someone who tries to utilize it into things, I'm not sure I can see that.
Well....frame wise it is.... X:
Nope, he's correct, it really is. But it also has a really terrible hitbox as well.

[collapse=Seriously, look how bad that is!]
[/collapse]

It definitely has its uses, but Bloom Trigger generally pushes your opponent far enough away that it's nearly unpunishable against most characters. Spring Raid is stupidly unsafe on block. My new favourite thing to do with Assault Through is do it through Jin's ice wave. :V

Wait...you can Asault Through er...through Ice Wave? And when I said it wasn't least punishable, I didn't mean frame-wise. I meant like...practicality wise in that with it's hitbox being so small and it being so predictable if it whiffs or gets seen coming, you're screwed, whereas Bloom Trigger tends to get punished the least.

Edit: Also, for those who apparently want to know, there's a stream setup for the tourney at: http://digitalsyrup.ca/chat/

I see, I was kind of afraid of that (especially since online makes the middle of her drive combos safe )
Like you said, Optic Barrel pretty much makes it safe and Bloom Trigger pushes opponents a good distance.

Guess I need to practice my instant blocking and punish accordingly.

Man, I didn't even know there was a stream.

Does that mean you guys saw me get eliminated playing Third Strike? :bee:
I'm not sure. So far it seems to be....more of a stream watching the players with the screens off to the right instead of a stream of the actual matches, weirdly enough.

Lmao.

Reppin' that Poverty Chun, Lyth?

NO, I PLAYED Q LIKE A BAMF.

Won two matches, lost two matches.

Well, online is a whole other story entirely. :p

With some practice you can. Just set the training dummy to random drive strings, and see what works for you.

It'll probably be more interesting tomorrow when top 8 comes around.
