EDIT: I'm looking at the building structure on the map compared to the image, and it looks like the picture is actually looking at NOA from the intersection of 27th and Wichita, which would put the parking area you're talking about forward and to the right of the building in the picture (if I'm not mistaken).

you're right. i've never looked at NOA from a distance (I have a class there) and I thought the whole building was gray like the first floor lolz.

I wouldn't want whoever's driving having to go out of his way to pick me up and possibly friend's from SoCal. Plus we'd need a lift to the venue.

I'd love to not have to pay for a hotel room (it was like... $30 last year, IIRC), but it'd be crappy to only be able to see Chris at the tournament.
BTW. If I drive, I'm NOT driving in to Houston the day of the tournament this time.
Last time, I didn't get to sleep the night before, drove 3 hours (and since I arrived near the deadline, I had to spend an hour looking for parking because everywhere was full), spent the entire day half-asleep, got like... four hours of sleep the night before bracket, spent the entire next day almost completely asleep and bloated from trying to eat to keep my energy up, and had to drive back to Austin the same day.
I ended up spending over a hundred dollars (without obtaining a single item from the con), and it was my first national experience and the WORST tournament experience of my life.
That said... it was pretty neat getting to browse with Ricky before the con actually started, getting to know the three people I drove a bit more, and getting to see tofer in a suit. It's really the little experiences that make these things great, IMO. ^_^
