Nike lives in SA. Haptic, where exactly do you live in Austin again? I'm thinking of hosting a small fest this weekend if we can get enough people (Charles, Haptic, anyone else). Of course, we'll need a crt or small tv since the only one I have is a 42 inch lcd.

In any case, good luck to everyone going to HOBO. Make sure you don't pull a Nike and get last.

J/k, love you Nike <3.

Don't do the Nike, Haptic!

Yea, I live in SA x) I didn't know Austin had a marth main. There's another here named Lauren, she's getting better each time I play her.

How strange. Are all players named "Lauren" attracted to guys with swords?

NOOOOnonono. No.
A girl I play with often in Austin named Lauren switched from Lucas to Ike a while back.

Also, how the hell is Bowser "borderline low-tier" and Ike isn't?

I'm with Charles on this one.

Main up, sword out.

And I have NO idea. The BBR seems to think Bowser should be a lot lower as a whole because they collectively have little to no Bowser MU experience.

Ike is repped by some nasty players. Bowser is not. Get nasty.

And besides, you want your character to be as low as possible on the tier list. Then you can win money from any event, low tiers included. I wish Peach was low tier. :)

But by this reasoning, Ike should be borderline low tier, and Bowser should be low tier.

And therein lies the logic flaws of the BBR. XD

To be honest I haven't looked at the tiers since the Brawl Back Room announced that they liked to jerk off on each other back when Brawl first came out.

I just assumed... Bowser and all... :dizzy:

He's an odd one to place in the tier list. I think he's roughly where he needs to be, but I can see him rise a few spots or drop a few spots.

Some in the BBR think he's second worst, though, and that's just ********.

Some people also think Pit is top tier right beside Snake. Go figure. Oh, and to clarify I assumed Bowser was low low tier because of what people automatically assume about Bowser, if that makes sense. No one plays him, he's difficult to play well, thus he's horrible.

Xyro, I can't eat from 5 am till 8 pm. Long drives, constant activity, and chances of not breaking fast on time (which is a must) are all reasons that I don't want to bother with HOBO this month. Don't worry, I'll be back in October.

Edit: As far as this Ike and Bowser talk goes, I'm sure tourny results matter. With San leaving a huge imprint on the scene, and players like Mr. Doom, Slaps (yes, he's stepped up his game), and me getting decent placings, it's only natural Ike should jump up a few tier spots.

As far as learning curve goes...don't know a single thing about Bowser. Ike is just jab.

If anything else, Ike dominates the low tiers for the most part, does fairly well against the mid tiers, and is okay at best against high tiers. While he fails against Falco, MK, Oli, and DDD, Ike can still take on Diddy, Snake, G&W, and Wario. The only thing that truly holds Ike back is CPs. If Ike loses the first match, consider the set done as the opponent can counter pick Ike pretty hard. Ike can be good on stages like RC and Japes, but with the MLG list, Ike gets a slight disadvantage. A huge one if the opponent mains two chars.

@Zigsta: I'm pretty sure it was only ONE person in the WCD for Bowser that thought he was 2nd worst.
And even then, Bowser totally isn't.

@Gea: That hurts, man.

I can't go to a fest this weekend because I will be back home in Houston for HOBO.

I just moved back to Austin for school 2 weeks ago, so I'm sort of a Houston/Austin Marth main. I have a strong desire to improve, but no competitive players to play with here. Hopefully that changes soon!

Some gay guys bring their lady friends for support. Charles and I will play that role off of each other and score. See How I Met Your Mother for more details.

You probably just got confused reading P1erce's ridiculously long self-meatriding and thought there was no way one person could be going on about themself for so long, that it must have been an entire group of people.

How do people even get into the BBR? Recommendation? Application? Espy status?
There's a thread that's opened every 3-4 months or so. You fill out the application and post it there. They take into account what you've contributed to SWF, how you do in tournaments, etc. They also ask you random stuff like "what's your favorite color." XD

They take you inside of a bathroom at a Louisiana truck stop. They lock you in a stall with a hole in one of the walls... twenty minutes later, you're in the "back room."

I think the main problem with the BBR is that there isn't a rep for each main (I think). Kind of like our US House of Rep, we have reps for each state according to state population. Now I'm not saying we should inflate the BBR membership, but we should at least have each character be represented, while the upper tiers/more used chars have a bit more reps.

Just an idea.

It's just weird when they discuss a character but then don't include some of the best players for that character. And then you have good players like Gnes or Razer, who aren't in the BBR because they don't apply or don't even care about it or whatever. And then good players like ADHD who voluntarily leave? That's a sign that something is wrong.

I mean, I would just like to see what goes on behind the scenes. Maybe I could come to an understanding why people leave. I'm sure having Espy there is bad enough, but it can't be THAT bad.
