The Alternate File Loader (aka "The Clone Engine")

Well, I tried that, but it still doesn't work.
I have 2 different code blocks, each replacing Marth.

61727468 1100E27B
01C06C6D 00000000

This one is activated by L+A and is in the folder /lm/. This one works fine.

Its the next one that doesn't work.

This one is supposed to be activated by R+A and to load from folder /ab/ but it doesn't work.
The first line is identical to the first, so I suppose the problem is in the second one, but I can't find it.
I know my bytecount is correct since I have 8 code blocks in total and the bytecount is 80.

Do you know what is the problem?

Well, this is how I do it. When I get to the CSS, I hold R until I press start. I choose my character with A and keep A held down until I press start. I wait until the wii stops making noise until I press start. When the match starts, regular Marth is loaded, unfortunately.

Am I doing anything wrong? I'm about to give up now.

Let me get this straight...

You make a two letter name folder,
Put only ONE fighter's folder inside (or the "stage" folder) - because you replace only one fighter's files
And it should work?

If I have fitmarth00.pcs and fitmarth.pac in pf,
And I have only a different fitmarth.pac in lm, does that mean that his default costume will revert back to normal?

What I'm really trying to say is, if something is in pf and not in lm, does the pf file still work if I'm holding down the buttons to activate lm?

P.S. WHERE DO I PUT THIS CODE?!?!?!?!?!?!?
(And can I please get a link to the file that allows you to make .pac files? Please?)

I have a question. dunno id it's been answered.

what about transforming characters like Zela/Shiek? lets say I wanna play as echo blade zelda, but decide to play as echo blade shiek in mid-match. would I play as onrmal sheik? what if I loaded scho blade shiek on the CSS then chosen echo blade zelda? would it work?

The program says that you have to hold Z on the Gamecube controller to load the files... what about Wiimote and Nunchuck? Would that still be Z?

Nice work on the program, richdog. Unfortunately the code itself again proves to be unusably unreliable, but good job regardless.

It was stated earlier in the topic there is not and will never be any support for anything except the GC controller. There is support for the Classic Controller, but it is supposedly really buggy.

Almas doesn't want to code anymore. Someone else could modify the code if they knew how, but I doubt anyone will since most people have/use the GC Controller.
Not most people I know, though. I would use the GC Controller more often, but I only have a super-sensitive Wavebird and some cheap wired controller that looks like the original, but the insides rattle around and stuff. I'll be waiting for somebody to make a Nunchuck code.

im still having trouble with this. i hope someone can help me out.

im read every page in this thread so far. and im getting a green screen when it starts up via gecko. im only using one alt character for link. here is the block:

i genereated this code with the clone engine code maker. and im still getting a green screen. im using a custom CSS made from the CSS organizer. are there any codes that possibly conflict with this one? the codes that i have on are:
file patch 3.5.1
colored sheilds
unrestricted pause/replay camera
replays longer than 3 min
stage editor infinite pieces/place anywhere
tags in replays
infinite replays
hold_ for homerun/target test/ other stages
custom default settings
CSS fix
css fixes for giga and company

indypokes engine no wreck my music

so please if anyone has any idea whats wrong help would be much appreciated!


EDIT: i guess my custom CSS was interfering with it. is there anyway around this?

EDIT: another question. is it possible to get this to work so when you pick ganon with the button command he has his PSA with his sword, and without the command hes regular?

You're not the only one. I tried having both Pichu (by holding L) and Manchu (by holding R), and only Pichu worked. Moving Manchu above Pichu in the list made only Manchu work... D:

i think you need the "01906C6D 00000000" line after each character cause thats how mine is and it works.

this conflicts with custom CSS codes. is there anyway around this?
If you're referring to PW's recent hack that changes the position of the character display, etc., I don't know.

If you're referring just to the character select slots, IDK what's going wrong for you. I use a custom CSS, but I have not encountered any problems. Be sure you have Custom Random and all those other fix codes.

first thanks for the response. but its working with my current code right now and im pretty sure i have everything on correctly. but when i added a new PSA hack for toonlink it stops at gecko. i get a black screen after gecko loads. and im using file patch 3.5.1 i havent tried his new file patch code yet. could you possibly give me your CSS? so i can test it please? if its not too much trouble.

Ok, I'm trying to make a file loader for 5 separate versions of the Wi-Fi Waiting Room. For some reason, it's not working at all. Can someone look at my code and tell me what I haven't done right? I included useage documentation in the txt file.

I believe this version of the file loader only works for stage textures. I may be wrong though, but Dantarion has been trying to come up with a loader for the SSE stages themselves.

Seriously? Well, ****. I figured that it'd work, since textures and models are in the same file for stages. Didn't realize the code could only replace textures. Crap.

Even if the Alternate File Loader could load SSE stages, you'll only be able to have one alternate per stage. No one has been able to get the code to load multiple stages/characters textures from a single base.

The thing is, if you try using the same character/stage twice or more in the Alternate File Data code, it only recognizes the first instant of the code, even if you use different button activators. Using your code as an example, only the part that is underlined would be recognized. I'm not sure why the code works that way.

I created the program and that should work...
The only reason it only has 4 characters is because ive been too lazy to finish the program...

couldn't one just use the program twice and combine the output of the codes?

Well, snap. That explains a lot. I guess there's no way around it without modifying the base code, then.

I have intention to tweak and fix this code as soon as I have the time and effort now that I have settled in at university. However, people's lack of willingness to help me test codes given that I don't have ready access to a TV is somewhat unmotivating.
I can see why not having your own way to test codes would be unmotivating. I'll definitely volunteer to test the Clone Engine for you though, if that helps. I'd test your B+ codes but I don't use B+, so the subtle changes would be lost on me.
