just got back from TX.
was shooting for 13th but got 25th(?) (2 very winnableround away- outta 97(?) i think. most of the best players in the south were there.
tied for 2nd in my pools (under LeThien's Diddy),in brackets, don't remember my first opoennt, my 2nd oponent was Melee1 (iceclimbers/mk) (he won the previous FinalSmash tourney) For reference, he's considered one of the top IceClimber players in the country.
I had played him in 2 friendlies the night before (each winning one), but this time my DK turned golden super saiyan)we had a crowd of at least 25 people watching and everyone was rooting for me and going crazy. it was the most epic match of the whole tournament, despite it being so early.
i beat his iceclimbers w/ DK, then he beat my kirby w/ MK on RainbowCruise.
I could feel SO much love for the monkey, guys...it was awesome.
He knew he wasn't going to Ice me anymore, so i picked Pictochat (my usual MK counterpick as DK). I was doing very good, but he caught up, and around the end we were both too scared to go for the final blow. We were each one stock over 120%. It felt likes 3 minutes had past with nothing and i got impatient...he got me :<
regardless, just thought i'd let ya'll know a DK's results versus a 'top' IceClimber player. I used alot of d.tilts, downB, and occasional throws to separate them further if they already were, obviously.
If you can grab nana, cargo, jump off stage, d.throw, DJ to D.air (she'll typically DJ right into it). Its alot safer then walking off the stage with her, being as popo won't be able to retaliate as easily, or save her due to her being further out.
then in loser's i beat 3 more people, and lost to Fattyfatfat (wario). By that set it was past 1am (tourney started at like 1pm, and i was tired-as-****-johns) He said he wouldn't use the d.throw infinite, so i decided to stay as DK instead of switching. But i realized i REALLY didn't know the matchup well enough. First fight was down to the wire, but by the 2nd one, i was out of ideas and was spamming b.airs as the majority of my game.
but yea, had a blast. Its many top south player's opinions now i have the best DK in the region, and if they're off, i know i'll be proving it soon =]
