probably because you're using SDHC (they cause a lot of problems).

also, do you have gameconfig.txt in the root of your sd card? even with that you may need to get a regular SD card anyway....

Yep the SDHC card was the problem. Switched to an SD card and it works fine, thanks.

PAL - Functional for standard textures, causes crashes/glitches with CSPs:

that's where you choose your character right? How often will it crash?

I'm confused. Do the stage textures need to be named as .Pac files or as a .pcs file? Thanks, and sorry if this was asked before.

For characters with transformations, do you still need the .pac even though you won't transform (playing as 1 pokemon for the whole match for example). Or do you still need the .pac no matter what?

Another question. For edit effects such as the color of Marth, Ike and Link's sword swings, how exactly does the file need to be named to edit these?

why do you care?

no you don't. the .pac is what keeps your textures on when you transform
ex: if you are charizard, and want to switch to squirtle, you need squirtles .pac, otherwise his texture won't show up.

I'm trying to get texture hacks for Pokemon Trainer working(specifically Metroid Trainer). I downloaded the textures for them, but I happened to notice that the downloaded package did not come with any .pac files, except for the Final Smash(which I won't be using anyway). And I know that PT needs .pac to work, so does that mean that these textures are unusable, since .pac was not included? If so, is there any way to remedy this?

EDIT: I should add that the first pokemon i call out, and pokemon trainer himself, show their texts just fine, but the pokemons' textx disappear when i switch them.

You need the PAC files for Charizard, Squirtle, and Ivysaur, or else you'll lose the custom textures when you switch the Pokemon. You can create a new PAC file by extracting the PCS file through an application, called lz77ex.exe.

Where the motion textures at? ;3

They are in the fighter folder for each character.
I just know where they are, but when I ran them through ASH, it gave me some error.
If you know how to edit them, please tell me. I'd like to make my own effect textures too! :bee:

Also, a question from me. Will music and texture hacks work for a editted Brawl ISO if you run it through USB Loader GX? (It's a homebrew app) You don't have to tell me how, I guess...

I'm using lz77ex to convert the .pcs files to .pac, but after I extract the .pcs, it changes to a .out file. What do I do with this file?

Edit: nvm, I found the answer.
Edit 2: Nope, didn't work. I need help again.
Edit 3: Nvm again. Fixed it and it works perfectly.

When will this work with PAL?
File Replacement v2.1a works with PAL, but there are issues relating to the character portraits. If you own a PAL Wii and want to do textures and portraits, you need to use File Replacement v1.3 PAL.

I wonder why this version of the PAL File Replacement code isn't on the primary post. It's the only version that works with both textures and portraits (at least that's what I hear, since my Wii is an NTSC version).

Soooo.....the original post has the name of all the .pac files for the regular stages but not for the different stage builder sets. Anybody know what they're named?

Another question. I have a Zelda texture and a Sheik texture(and the .pcs and .pac files for both of them), but I am getting some freezing issues. When I change from Zelda to Sheik it works fine, with the changes in textures, but when I try to change from Sheik to Zelda, the game freezes. I checked the files for both characters and they are as they should be; any other ideas about what could be wrong?

It's possible that your Zelda PAC may have been corrupted. Try making a new Zelda PAC with lz77ex.exe to see if that makes a difference.

On a side note, my game hasn't shown signs of freezing whenever I use the Zelda / Sheik textures.

Alright, so I finally got the Homebrew channel, the latest version of Gecko and all that running, but when I load the game through it, I don't get the texture changes. I stored all the .pcs files correctly, so it seems that my code is the problem and I don't know why.
I'm using the right one, NTSC since I live in North America, I've got the correct game ID, and the code is saved as RSBE01.gtc in E:\codes. Is there something specific that needs to be put into the Code/Comment/Category Name section or Code comment? Because I can't think or anything else.

If that's what you named it then there's your problem...it's spelled .gct not .gtc.

I think that was just a spelling error. You need the file replacement v 2.1 code too.

Just make sure you add back that [Wastelands] part when you're not using it so you remember what it is.

So, I just added textures, which work great. BUT, my start button does not work at all on any controller I use. The buttons work in other games, but in Brawl, they don't do anything.

A search has yielded no solutions.

Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Note: I also added "No C-stick fast fall" and "Can control winner on results screen" at the same time as I added textures. I'm also using balanced Brawl; but before adding these new codes, I had no problems.

Unless the "control winner" code (which I'm not familiar with) is the issue, I have no idea. Textures and the other codes you mentioned shouldn't be an issue.

My stage textures work but my character ones won't show at all and I've tried all the colors for it. And the directories I think are fine since it's private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/fighter/character. I also put the 00 or whatever after the .pcs so I really need to know what's going on. I also have all the correct gct with the correct codes. Can someone help me?

Wait, did you put the number AFTER the .pcs or before it?
