Yeah i was just about to say that.Fogo is the panelist from Dallas.
Also, take this to PM's you two. We all don't need to see you argue.
Edit: And I'm serious. Melee you should edit your post deleting that and PM it to infinity and infinity don't respond in this thread please.
Thanks.
I see what you mean and I would agree with you for the most part aside from the fact that the PR are not actually that important to me so I don't put as much effort into them as other things. You have some of your facts wrong though if I interpreted your post right such as DMG being a panelist when he's not. LeeHarris is also currently not a panelist.I respect very few players on the Panelists from a Fighter's perspective. How many of these players can look at a fight and accurately describe the match that is going on? Using terms such as x player is zoning with fireballs looking to bait a jumping cross up while y player blocks the fireball and continues poking x player with his "insert character safe move here." We all see it take place...either in our own games or in other players games. However, how comfortable would you feel letting a panelist commentate some of the finals matches at a large tournament?
Are these players capable of analyzing their own game and see their opponents strategy and why it works? If not, then why are these players the judges whom declare who has skill and who does not?
I've come from a LONG background of heavy fighter, RTS and FPS games. I've seen them all from a competitive standpoint. What I have not seen, is the reasons for why certain players are on the top area of the Power Rankings. No, "so and so placed high...must obviously be near the middle or better of the power rankings" is not a valid excuse. From what I've seen, there is little to no discussion as to why players A-Z are even on the power rankings other than "so and so beat so and so."
For the longest time, I have regarded the power rankings and panelist to be a joke. I believe the panelist needs a severe revision especially if you guys let players like LeeHarris (who does not play the game competitively) and DMG on the list. Are you kidding me? I could walk up to them and ask "what flaws do you think Dojo has in his game" and they could respond with "probably doesn't use tornado enough." What kinda explanation is that? Despite the game being young, I only see a few players on the panelists that deserve to be on there BECAUSE of their knowledge of the game. (with no intention of **** riding) Hylian has been the only player on the panelist that has shown me his understanding of the game. I have no idea how this kid does so well with very limited exposure to other players. That's what we need, players on the panelist that have been exposed to many different playstyle and have an enormous amount of knowledge for the game.
Hylian and Melee1 are very good examples of players that deserve to be on Texas panelists. Hylian for always reading and trying to learn new things about the game. Melee1 for also experimenting and finding out new stuff in addition to his online success towards playing numerous of different players all around the USA.
Also, this is so true.Really I don't feel like making this too serious this early. Right now is like the testing grounds for who is going to be dominating or even still in the scene a year from now. Then is when I want to put more effort into this.
I, CY, will take this job and do my best to succeed at it.My typo: Dmg /=/ DMK...was it really that hard to figure out guys?
Hylian: I see your standpoint and do not care so much about a top 10 list from a player who thinks the PR isn't very important. It's all good bout trying to save face. I respect your opinions and conclusions more so recently than ever before. However, something still needs to be addressed. That is, the leaders involved. To put it bluntly, we need better leaders.
Oh really? CY, you remind me of something that hasn't been done in awhile. I think my post count needs a boost. /me off to troll the houston threadI, CY, will take this job and do my best to succeed at it.
With best regards,
CY
I can't agree with you more dude.and we can focus on improving our state as a whole rather then segregate it further.
No, you and Santi got us kicked out of that restaurant at HOBO 12 >: (Lol I'll just go hide under a rock some more now...
*hides*
Can I be on the panel?
Bobby...we need to play again. Like badly lol.Lol I'll just go hide under a rock some more now...
*hides*
Can I be on the panel?
k, now someone has to tell the story. I could see them doing some **** like that though...No, you and Santi got us kicked out of that restaurant at HOBO 12 >: (
Woah Woah Woah wtf are you talking about? Lol. Better not be referring to IHOP, there was no fuc**** way I was supposed to know that was a full bar that needed ID's.No, you and Santi got us kicked out of that restaurant at HOBO 12 >: (
When Hylian is in the same building as me, I go to sleep.I can't agree with you more dude.
And we're playing like a million games next time we're in the same building, focker.
Can't wait . We will MM and then keep playing and just tell people we are MMing when they want to play one of us .I can't agree with you more dude.
And we're playing like a million games next time we're in the same building, focker.
Apparetly you also didn't sleep very much the night before(read: 30 minutes). You are not me espy . Only I'm allowed to not sleep and still do well at tournaments (See: Hobo11 where I did not sleep the night before[with only two hours of sleep the night before THAT] and was the 3rd highest placing Texan then drove home because LeeHarris was too tired even though I hadn't sleept)When Hylian is in the same building as me, I go to sleep.
That goes for Sethlon too, and both of them at the same time. I'm pretty sure they can attest to that claim, as well as Phantom X.
Apparently.
It worked because Nana ended up behind you >_< so I lost control of her and couldn't punish you. If she would of been in front I could of blizzarded you.The initial reason DMK was on as a panelist was because he had traveled to the most tournaments...when the first PR list went up me or stiltz hadn't played the people out side of Houston very much at all.
I agree that we should change up the panelists. Lee has quit, stiltz has pretty much quit, DMK hasn't been traveling or placing much...
Lawl @ d4ba, I am kinda euphoric at tournies, aren't I? I got the dthrow -> dair thing to work against hylian's ICs last weekend...dunno if he could've punished it if he saw it coming or not.
It was actually only 10 minutes to be completely accurate, but I refuse to go over that again.Apparetly you also didn't sleep very much the night before(read: 30 minutes). You are not me espy . Yes you would be a great panelist.i should be considered.........but of course i never am
You would probably be considered a biased panelist if becoming one actually happened. I would throw up if that were to ever occur.i should be considered.........but of course i never am
you never travel out of houston, so you really don't have a grasp of the skill of other players around TX. we already have houston panelist anyway, plus you are extremly biased towards houston players. -_- i still love you so much though, don't get that twisted. <3i should be considered.........but of course i never am
:\It was actually only 10 minutes to be completely accurate, but I refuse to go over that again.
I also made the mistake of chugging a sugary drink, only to get a sugar crash.
You can keep the "no sleep but still wins" trophy, I'd rather not. Granted, I can play well even without sleep, I prefer to have it to be at tip-top shape during the tournament.
Oh, and I can't just jump around aimlessly throw out attacks during a match, because I don't play GaW, Meta Knight, or Wario.[/sarcasm]
Whatever...I'll be breaking into that list eventually...hopefully...
...someday? Like, when I stop getting my arse kicked by top tiers?
;_;
I say it because whenever I play Wario in friendlies or someone of that calibur, I don't really think. I just kinda throw out attack after attack after attack, and still have control.:\
I'll never get why people say that.
Then why haven't I heard of it yet?is this seriously going to be a brawl only ranking, because there's a more than active melee scene in tx
I'm pretty sure I'm not including alot of information on the characters I wish I could play as. I know a good deal of information on who does what and whatnot, and I'm aware of what people can do to Wario in high levels of play. You play Wario haphazardly against someone decent good/familiar with the matchup and you'll be crying in a corner before long. The only really "safe" or "abusable" thing Wario can do is use dairs on shield, but even then people can react quickly and get you for it if you don't space it just right or if they powershield it/shield all the hits by tilting their shield up. You fsmash often, you'll start getting shielded, and then hit during afterlag, which most of Wario's moves have. You learn quick after you've been grab release tippered or grab release naired (by Snake) enough times. Wario has one of the worst ranges in the game, you can't "throw out attacks" and be successful. He just copes b/c he has great finishers and can tank.
If you need an example Hylian punished me pretty badly for every mistake I made (including getting the win on Rainbow Cruise b/c I marginally misspaced an upair, as that too has ending lag).
SA's Melee scene has always been dead, or sort of a living undead at the best of times. There is indeed an active Melee scene in TX...but let's just say it's cozier than pre-Brawl. We had an almost spur-of-the-moment tournament last saturday and it attracted Houston, Austin, and Oklahoma. Then why haven't I heard of it yet?
As for that, why is SA's Melee scene so dead atm?
