That show was so crazy in its first season. Yugi would just murder the **** out of people for no reason.

And then the real show was all "this spinning blade is going to cut you in half if you lose this children's card game." The American dub prettied it up with some bull **** about the shadow realm.

No need to apologize about the PS2 thing. I was just poking fun. <3
isn't yugioh the one doing the killing?

I always thought season one made no sense... like hypothetically, if exodia wasn't ripped up, what was to stop yugi from just never playing a card the whole game until they got exodia... it would have been so ****ing easy

You're actually confusing the first season of the dub with the first season of the show. The first season of the show (which only aired in Japan) basically had nothing to do with card games and was just about killing every bully in the world, ever.

I really liked the first season of YuGiOh. But yeah, he was pretty much killing people for no reason. Still a good season, though. For those of you, my avatar is from that season. When Kaiba had green hair.

...there is no reason to be getting hit by master hand

I know that. I'm just saying that if, hypothetically, I was somehow forced to use Master Hand in a standard bracket match, I would spam those three moves because the others are much, much worse. All of the ones that involve MH flying upward offscreen or hovering over the map and then descending are 100x easier to react against and 100x easier to punish. The grab, poke, and gun follow predetermined timings and forced auto-spacing and are also 100x easier to punish

I mean, I DID just compare playing Master Hand to playing Giant Dorf and only using walk and utilt.

A few days late lol. I didn't really mean you. I meant the other two complaining about moves that hit them.

MAYBE that drillhand bull**** but if you play this game competetively at ALL the rest of his moves should be lol

Like Akuma in ST, we knew that leaving Metaknight legal would quickly lead to Metaknight vs. Metaknight in every round of every tournament. So we quickly banned him, realizing that he is quite broken.

The only legal modifications in tournament, unless stated otherwise in the ruleset pertaining to said tournament, are cosmetic modifications such as painting of the controller, replacement of certain buttons or analog sticks, replacement of computer boards inside of the controller, or removal of the rumble feature via cutting the rumble wire or taking out the rumble device.

Nope, that's fine. As long as it's a Nintendo stick (some people even use Wii Nunchuck control sticks).

Looking back, idk how I missed your original explanation. lol Sorry.

I already hit the C-stick by accident sometimes, so I can't imagine using a Nunchuck stick, let alone a full-fledged control stick.

I used to use the nunchuk joystick as my c-stick... I liked it for awhile until I started doing more advanced tactics and someone it was getting in my way.
I used to have a control stick for the C-stick. It made some obscure ICs desynchs easier, things requiring I press Y, C, and A at the same time (I claw) but for other characters it made accidental presses more common so I got rid of it.

Also used to have a Wii Classic stick for the main stick, it has advantages and disadvantages. I have made other mods before too, generally you won't have issues at tournaments, I never have.

Why has nobody ever commented about how HORRIBLE it is to not have a stage ban? DSRM and Stage Bans are NOT mutually exclusive.

Banning stages was only really a necessity when there were excessively many stages that could "negatively" impact a match. If a Peach could counterpick both Brinstar and Mute City, that was regarded as "excessive." So a player gets a ban to avoid being counterpicked twice to stages which are heavily in their opponent's favor. It doesn't seem particularly necessary in the current ruleset. This doesn't mean I'm against it or anything. I just wouldn't make a fuss out of not having a stage ban, and I would be surprised anyone in favor of the MBR5 ruleset would make a fuss, since they are the ones who think these stages are "neutral" in the first place.

DSR is pointless in the current ruleset because it is a solution to a theoretical problem that will likely never actually occur when there are only six stages. There is a fear that an opponent would be able to win on exactly one stage, and only that stage. In my opinion, DSR only exists to combat that fear. But with only six stages, I think that fear is largely irrelevant.

I think, if you're going to scrub it out and have only five or six stages, you should just give each player a ban and be done with DSR. Though I think DSR without bans is equally valid. It's a matter of preference, largely. People are just entitled to being able to play the game they want, regardless of the desire of their opponent. They believe we should craft the ruleset in order to mitigate any advantage your opponent will ever have. It's rather silly.

I always thought Peepee liked FD vs Peach, for some odd, masochistic reason. Guess not, haha.

I would be fine with no ban as long as it was an option to not be forced to FD every set. Some match-ups are godawful on that stage
