The skinny on how things go down at a tourney:can someone enlighten me as to how these tourneys work as far as brackets/matches?
When you say double elimination does that mean that there is a winner's bracket and a loser's bracket because I also see that you must win 2/3 to advance. And if there is a loser's bracket, does that mean for the finals the fact that winner of the loser's bracket has lost a match is discarded? And finals is 3/5 no matter what?
Then there is doubles...Is it first player fights, and if he wins he fights the other team's 2nd member with his remaining stock?
Thanks in advance.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION: Yes, you are correct about it meaning a Winners and Losers bracket. When you lose a match, that is your first elimination and you are then put into the Losers bracket. Once you are in the Losers bracket you must fight your way through those that have lost as well. If you lose a match in the Losers bracket, that is your second elimination and you are out of the tournament. If you do not lose for a second time you will become the winner of the Losers bracket and will take on the one who went undefeated in the Winners bracket. That match between the Losers winner and the Winners winner is the Finals.
FINALS: The Finals match is a 3/5 battle. For the winner of the Losers bracket, this can be a difficult task. The winner of the Losers bracket must win TWO 3/5 matches, where as the winner of the Winners bracket only has to win ONE 3/5 match. If the Winner of the Losers bracket wins the first 3/5 match, he must win the second 3/5 match in order to win the tournament. Reason for this being that when the winner of the Losers bracket wins the first match, he has eliminated the winner of the Winners bracket once and must defeat him again in order to claim first place. However if the winner of the Winners bracket wins the first 3/5 match, he wins the tournament because the winner of the Losers bracket has already been eliminated once.
DOUBLES TOURNAMENT: The Doubles tournament is 2v2 match. Two people on one team fighting two people on another team simultanously. And yes, Friendly Fire is on. lol.
If have any further questions do not hesitate to ask. I will be happy to answer them and I look forward to seeing you at the tournament.
