Here's a Grovyle moveset I made. It's a bit rough in some areas, but it's a good baseline. Celebi appears in the grabs.

I love the submission but could you possible transfer it to the forum? Not every can access Google Docs easily which may impact the votes for it.

  • General
    • Grovyle & Celebi are a little slower than Greninja, and their weight is about the same as Diddy Kong.
    • Grovyle & Celebi’s attacks are generally fast; they would be largely centered on mobility and combos.
    • Celebi constantly follows behind Grovyle, though she does not have a hurtbox.

    • Neutral Attack: Fury Cutter
      • Two slashes with Grovyle’s arm-mounted leaves leading into a rapid-jab.

      • Celebi creates a non-damaging surge of light a short distance in front of Grovyle. The light fades quickly, but lingers as a soft glow. A short time after the move was used, the area erupts into high-damage light.
      • This attack cannot be used while a spot of light is active.
    • Up Special: Magical Leaf
      • Celebi twirls around Grovyle and the two fly upward while surrounded with glowing leaves.
      • Think Mii Gunner’s Arm Rocket, but with a slower speed and less horizontal mobility in exchange for a large hitbox.
    • Down Special: Dig
      • Grovyle dives into the ground and burrows through it, marked by a mound of dirt. After a short time, or if B is hit again, Grovyle will leap upward to inflict damage.
      • If this attack is executed in midair, Grovyle will dive downward, inflicting small damage to any opponents he hits.
      • The dive passes through platforms.
  • Final Smash: Double Leaf Storm
    • Grovyle dashes forward, stunning any opponent he hits, while Celebi stays in place. Between each other, Grovyle and Celebi summon a large Leaf Storm that continually damages anyone caught inside (even if they weren’t hit by the initial slash). Grovyle then does another slash that carries him back to Celebi, and Celebi ends the Leaf Storm with an explosion of psychic energy.

Special Mechanics: Time Gears

Grovyle has access to five Time Gears he can use per stock to manipulate time. They are part of Grovyle’s neutral special. Once Grovyle uses up his Time Gear, he will not be able to regain them until he is KO’d just like Banjo & Kazooie’s Wonderwing attack.


Regular Attacks

Jab: Grovyle performs two slashes with his leaf blades.

Forward Tilt: Shoots out a leaf blade that bursts at closer range.

Up Tilt: A quick flip kick with a green leaf effect.

Down Tilt: A sliding kick attack that keeps Grovyle low profile.

Dash Attack: A sliding attack followed by an uppercut.


Aerials

Neutral Air: A twirl that finishes with Grovyle’s arms outstretched.

Forward Air: A scythe-like attack with Grovyle’s arm blades that spikes.

Back Air: An elbow bash-esque attack with Grovyle’s arm blades.

Up Air: A corkscrew twirl attack similar to Joker’s up air attack.

Down Air: Shots three small leaf blades beneath him.


Smash Attacks

Forward Smash: Holds a leaf blade in his hand and throws out a large reaching slash in front him leaving behind a green trail after it.

Up Smash: Grovyle ducks and then stabs upwards with a long glowing leaf blade and swings it behind him.

Grab: Grovyle swipes at the opponent. The grab has long range and Celebi aids him with the throws.

Pummel: Grovyle headbutts the foe repeatedly.

Forward Throw: Celebi shoots psychic projectiles at the opponent firing them away.

Back Throw: Grovyle runs the opponent against the ground and hurls them behind him.

Up Throw: Grovyle grabs the opponent with both arms and hurls them upwards.

Down Throw: Grovyle tackles the foe on the ground and Celebi fires a psychic projectile at them.


Special Attacks

Neutral Special (Time Gear):
For his neutral special, Grovyle wields the power of time. On his personage are five Time Gears, some of the most powerful artifacts in the entire world of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. These gears were used to keep the flow of time in place. With five gears in hand, Grovyle and Celebi will use them to manipulate the flow of time during their battles in Super Smash Bros. With each usage of this special attack however uses up one Time Gear making it essential that you use them sparingly.

The attack has multiple properties and its simplest one is time reversal. Upon holding the special button, Grovyle will hold up the Time Gear and several afterimages will appear where Grovyle had been previously from the last 3 seconds. Grovyle will slowly go back through those afterimages until reaching the last point in time or letting go of the special. Grovyle will be completely invulnerable.

This can be used to not just recover off stage but completely mitigate an opponent’s attempt at edgeguarding. Grovyle can also attack and shield right out of travelling through time.

If the special button is lightly tapped, Grovyle will instead equip himself with the Time Gear as if it was an item. He can throw it like an item and the surrounding area it’s thrown at will be surrounded by a subspace bubble where time flows slower. Anyone that enters the bubble will be slowed down, including Grovyle.

If the item directly hits another player however, they will be affected with slowness exactly like Bayonetta’s Witch Time but it will not last as long as the bubble variant. This will give Grovyle the opportunity to rack up damage or perform a powerful smash attack for a KO. If a Time Gear is eaten, the foe will be slowed down for an even shorter amount of time.

When all Time Gears are depleted, the attack will fail if used and Grovyle will appear disappointed.



Side Special (Leaf Blade): Grovyle stands steady with the leaf blades on his arms glowing a brighter green colour. He then rushes forwards towards the opponent from several directions similarly to how Mythra’s Photon Edge works around six times. Several afterimages of Grovyle will also be left behind him. The attack’s strongest hit is its final one but the damage output is overall quite minimal and its lag leaves a whiffed Leaf Blade very punishable.

The attack however goes further than Mythra’s and the hitboxes are not spread out as far making it harder for Grovyle to be punished by a projectile during the state. This move is an excellent horizontal recovery tool as well as a solid punishment tool to catch mistakes.



Up Special (Telekinesis): Celebi coats Grovyle in a psychic barrier and uses Telekinesis to lift him up from the ground. The direction of Grovyle cannot be angled and he will simply go straight up but not too far as his weight will eventually tire Celebi out and force him into freefall if he does not grab onto a ledge. However, if an opponent attacks Grovyle during this phase with a physical attack, Celebi will counterattack and burst the barrier sending back x1.4 of the damage dealt to Grovyle to the attacker.

If Celebi counters an opponent, Grovyle will not be sent into freefall and will gain one extra jump instead.



Down Special (Dig): Grovyle performs a flip similar to Sheik’s Bouncing Fish but instead of kicking, he will instead dive straight into the ground and jump out a set distance away in front where he dug into. At low percentages, a player hit by the dive will be launched along Grovyle’s path and will surely be hit by his rising attack. The rising attack can KO at higher percentages but it functions more of a punish move overall and can lead into further combos.




Final Smash: Future of Darkness

Grovyle creates a time-space portal which anyone nearby is forcibly dragged into. Proceeding this is a cinematic final smash cutscene where they land on a mountaintop of an empty world devoid of colour and life. Grovyle and Celebi both leap through and hurl Time Gears at the opponent launching them further towards Temporal Tower. Grovyle & Celebi then watch atop alongside Dusknoir as time begins to move again and the sun rises on a grateful universe.

The opponents are then hurled out of the portal in the actual match and take 50% damage. They are automatically KO’d at 110%.




Taunts

Side Taunt: Grovyle brushes his blades and Celebi floats in a circle around him.

Up Taunt: Grovyle says “Show me your strength,” and points forward.

Down Taunt: Grovyle jumps into a cautious stance reminiscent of the portrait for Special Episode 5.


Victory Animations

Victory Theme: The first 8 seconds of Job Clear from Explorers of Time & Sky sped up.

Victory 1: Grovyle crosses his arms while his eyes are closed. He opens his right eye and says with a determined tone, “Only you can change your fate.”

Victory 2: Celebi floats around the screen saying “With our power,” cheerfully followed up by a leaping Grovyle that finishes her sentence, “we can surely change the future.”

Victory 3: Grovyle faces away from the camera. He turns to the camera with a Time Gear in hand and tosses a Warp Orb at the ground, vanishing in a cloud of smoke. Celebi flies into view attempting to find him.

OK, here we are. I might still update it.
GROVYLE GEARS UP!

Grovyle is a Pokemon from the third Generation of Pokemon, being the middle stage of the Grass starter line of the generation. Middle stages are doomed to a life of obscurity, a fate Grovyle was likely going to have, if not for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2. That game gave him a crucial role, which made him much more memorable.

In PMD2, he is initially seen as the antagonist, with his evil scheme being to steal all of the time gears, stopping the flow of time and plunging the world into darkness. The amnesiac protagonist and his partner try to stop him, but failed. This is quite convenient, as it turns out he’s actually a good guy trying to stop the aforementioned apocalypse. He came back from the future to try to stop it, along with the main protagonist (who was formerly a human). Unfortunately, if the bad future is to be prevented, him and the protagonist’s very existence must cease. Of the 3 key protagonists, the only one who minds this very much is the partner, who would survive the affair. The Protagonist survives because Plot, but Grovyle doesn't. It wasn't until a sidequest in Sky that we learn his fate.

Stats
Grovyle’s rather average sized, standing at the same height as Mario (he stands slightly hunched, so his height is actually slightly taller) he’s also a rather fast character, running and dashing at about the speed of Greninja. His air speed is average, around Shulk’s. Fall speed is quite a bit slower than average, at around Luigi’s. His weight is around Little Mac’s, meaning he’s a lightweight.

Playstyle: Champion of Tricks
There are many characters in Smash that are designed so that it feels like you’re just playing their home games (Mega Man, Ryu, Belmonts, etc). Grovyle is a slight deviation on this; the opponent is the one facing a PMD-like experience. Grovyle has a boatload of projectiles, gimmicks, and ambush moves to surprise a foe, not unlike the sudden appearance of an annoying tile or a Monster House. The opponent must keep their wits to handle whatever Grovyle throws their way, like how you're supposed to survive a dungeon with no reviver seeds and a single apple.

Grovyle himself is a very fast and efficient character. Good Grovyle players will use all of his tools to make their matches end quick, not unlike how Grovyle took the time gears so efficiently in PMD. His up special in particular, while it’s very hard to learn how to use correctly, can be absolutely devastating if used correctly. It’s also pretty exciting to watch.



Neutral B: Trap Tile

Trap Tiles are a common part of the Mystery Dungeon games, messing up something or other for either you or the enemies. In smash, Grovyle places a trap by using Neutral B. They function mostly like Snake’s Landmine, remaining inactive until stepped on. It’s hitbox is much bigger, about 1.25 TMBs long. Unlike Isabelle and Snake’s traps, Grovyle can set off his own trap. The tiles themselves aren’t taken from PMD, and are a solid color to ease in remembering. They are…

Orange Tile: Decreases walk, run and air speed of the first character to step on the tile by x.75% for 10 seconds.

Green Tile: Increases knockback of the first character to step on the tile by x1.25% for 10 seconds.

Purple Tile: Decreases damage output of the first character to step on the tile by x.75% for 10 seconds.

Tiles are immediately destroyed upon being stepped on. There can only be one tile per Grovyle at a time. The tile is usually randomly selected, but if you press a taunt button at the same time it locks one in (Up Taunt - Orange, Side Taunt - Green, Down Taunt - Purple.) This attack cannot be used in the air, this includes if used with the Warp Orb. Ness is very good at dealing with this attack, due to having much experience with puzzles


Side B: Blast Seed

Grovyle’s Side B uses a common item in the Mystery Dungeon games, though used slightly differently. Instead of eating the seed to hit those in front of Grovyle, he throws it, where it explodes on impact. It’s unaffected by gravity, and moves around the same speed as K.Rool’s Crown. When compared to the Deku Seed item, it’s larger and unable to be picked up. It explodes with visuals similar to Toon Link’s bomb and hits like Limit Cross Slash, dealing 18%. It’s a kill move, capable of killing Mario from the middle of Final Destination at around 110%. The Blast Seed isn’t affected by the Warp, meaning that a skilled player can predict where the blast seed will launch a player, throw the orb, throw the seed, have the opponent fly there, and unleash a Smash Attack. It’s a risky effort and could backfire easily, but it would kill easily and look cool.

Up B: Warp Orb

For Grovyle’s Up Special, he throws a warp orb. The Warp Orb is, by default, thrown upwards, though it can be angled to be thrown in the 8 main directions. The Warp Orb goes in that direction at a speed similar to K.Rool’s Blunderbuss. If the warp orb makes contact with anything (a Fighter, the stage, a platform, etc.) Grovyle instantly moves to that space. If it’s on a ledge, Grovyle grabs it immediately. The orb CANNOT be Pocketed or reflected.
If it goes for 2 seconds and nothing touches it, Grovyle moves to wherever the orb ended up after those 2 seconds. A central mechanic to this is that Grovyle continues doing whatever it was doing before upon being teleported, even if it was an input usually unavailable in the air (grabs, Smash attacks, etc). Grovyle can only use this attack once in the air before going into freefall. Going from the ground to the air will not put him in freefall.

Down B: Dig

Unlike all the other Special Moves, which were various items in PMD, dig is just a move Grovyle has in PMD2. However, using some gargantuan stretching, it can also be seen as an abstract reference to Monster Houses, where the player gets ambushed by a large amount of enemies.

Upon doing this attack,Grovyle dives into the stage. If on a hard platform the transition is instant, but if on a soft platform or in the air, he dives down until he hits a hard platform, going into the bury state immediately upon landing. It’s a powerful Meteor suicide attack if used this way, but Grovyle always dies first. If Grovyle is teleported via Warp Orb while in the ground, he also dives downwards. A skilled player could cheat the suicide part of air Down B, by throwing a Warp Orb, meteoring an opponent, and making it safely on stage via being teleported. This requires strict timing and can easily backfire, so it’s another one of Grovyle’s “Risky but really cool” options.

Anyways, while in the ground, Grovyle can freely move around left or right, slightly slower than Greninja’s Shadow Sneak, but without the risk of getting hit. Upon pressing B again, Grovyle burts out of the ground directly above wherever he came from, dealing 18%. He does this automatically after 5 seconds. If you rise up from the ground under one of Grovyle’s tiles, it destroys it without providing any effects.



Forward Smash: Leaf Blade
Grovyle’s Side Smash uses Leaf Blade. It’s one of the moves he knows in PMD2, the line’s signature move in Gen 3, and the move Grovyle uses in Pokemon Conquest, another DS Spinoff. Leaf Blade is very similar to it’s appearance in Conquest/the Gen 5 games, where 3 floating swords resembling leaves slash at the opponent. This attack does 22% uncharged.

If Grovyle is teleported from Warp Orb while charging this move, he simply continues charging it, as per usual. If he is using this attack while teleporting, however many blades that are where he started stay there, where all new blades spawn where Grovyle is currently. Damage is unaffected, but if released in the air Grovyle enters freefall. This applies to all Smashes

Up Smash: Absorb
Absorb is another move Grovyle has in PMD2, and it’s also Treecko's Conquest move. Grovyle reaches upward, with Green energy appearing in his hand (think Mewtwo’s Up Smash). This attack does very little compared to most Smash attacks (14=5%) , but also heals a little bit (6% on first use, 3% on repeated uses).
Down Smash: Leaf Storm

Down Smash… isn’t actually one of Grovyle’s moves in PMD, but it is Sceptile’s Conquest move, and I wanted to complete that trilogy. A swarm of leaves start circling at Grovyle’s feet, going about .75 of a TMB in both directions. The sweet spot, which is close to Grovyle, deals 19%, and the farther hitboxes deal 16.7%
Grab/Pummel: Celebi

For Grovyle’s Grab, the Shiny Celebi from PMD2 appears from a time wormhole. Celebi is Grovyle’s ally from the destroyed future. She spawns slightly in front of Grovyle, giving the attack good range. Celebi herself is the same size as Luma. The grab animation is Celebi immobilizing the foe via psychic energy. The pummel is Grovyle swiping forward, similar to Roy/Chrom’s jab. It deals 1.3%.

Grovyle’s grab system is actually fairly unique when used in tandem with Up-Special. If Grovyle has an opponent grabbed while he teleports, all three of them are teleported. Grovyle starts falling, as per usual. Celebi and the grabbed foe, however, stay there. As Grovyle is not there, you can’t pummel in midair. This also weakens throws, because Grovyle isn’t there to assist. Does this matter when they’re way closer to the blast zone? It’s up to the player to decide.
Forward Throw: Magical Leaf

Grovyle throws the foe forward, and Celebi throws leaves in their direction. The initial throw deals 5.2%, and the leaves are a multi hit attack that adds up to 7.3%. Like Mewtwo F-Throw, the leaves can hit other fighters and be pocketed.

Back Throw: Ancient Power

Grovyle throws the foe backwards, dealing 5.2%. Meanwhile, Celebi throws a large rock backwards, dealing 11%. This is an attack in two phases (like Fox’s Bair) and a projectile, meaning that it can be pocketed. It’s Grovyle’s best kill throw.
Up Throw: Headbutt Up

Grovyle throws the foe upward, and Celebi tackles them, sending them further up. Grovyle’s throw yet again deals 5.2%, and the tackle does another 3.4%. It’s more of a combo throw than anything.
Down Throw: Time Trickery
From below the ground the foe stands, another Celebi appears. This sends the foe slightly upwards and does 6.7%. The “original” Celebi then goes into another time wormhole, with the implication that she’s going to go perform down throw in the past.

Jab Combo:
Grovyle’s basic Jab is lifted from Sceptile’s basic Dual Phase jab attack in Pokken Tournament. The first attack is a quick swipe, dealing 3%. The second attack is a Kick that deals 2%. The third attack has Grovyle materialize a large scythe and swipe forward, dealing a relatively impressive 8%.

Dash Attack: Quick Attack
Quick Attack is one of Grovyle’s Moves in PMD2. In it, Grovyle lunges forward about 3 TMBs, dealing 9%. This is an unusually high priority attack, Grovyle can overrule almost any attack or projectile for this attack.

Forward Tilt: Standard Attack

Grovyle meekly tackles forward, then dashes forward. This is a reference to the standard attacks in the older PMD games, weak attacks for if you don’t want to use up PP. It deals 5%, the same amount of damage it’s done from Gates to Infinity onwards.
Up Tilt: Stairs
Grovyle Jumps diagonally, dealing 8% to everyone above him. This is meant to be a reference to climbing up stairs, an essential part of PMD. This functions similar to other juggling up tilts, but with the added effect of moving the players involved forwards.

Down Tilt: Gravelrock

Grovyle kicks the ground beneath him. A pebble appears, being flinged forward about 3 TMBs. If it connects it deals 8%. It’s a projectile capable of being pocketed or reflected, but it’s quite weak so there’s little point.

Neutral Air: Plant Spin
Grovyle’s neutral Air is a spin, like Ivysaur and Pirahna Plant’s, but with arms instead of Leaves. It’s a vague reference to Pokemon Ranger, with all of the circles that must be made in that game. It deals about 13.2%
Forward Air: Leaf Blade
In Grovyle’s Forward Air, a singular Leaf Blade slashes forward. It's a fair bit weaker than the smash attack, dealing 14%, but it's still a fairly good kill move.
Up Air: Vine

Grovyle briefly hangs onto a vine, a reference to something Sceptile can do in Pokken., the vine goes about 3 TMBs up, directly above Grovyle. The top of the vine does 17%, and all the other parts of it deal 13.5%. It can be used as a tether. On the whole, it’s very similar to Simon/Richter’s up air
Down Air: Sleep Charm
Grovyle’s Down Air is a reference to the species' main skill in Pokemon Shuffle. Grovyle does a powerful stomp downwards. This attack deals 18% sweet spotted, 7% sourspotted. The sweet spot meteors any opponents in the air, but it briefly puts grounded opponents to sleep. At 100%, they get put to sleep for about three-quarters of a second.

Back Air: Quirky++
Grovyle’s back air is a reference to one of the rare abilities Grovyle has in Pokemon Shuffle, a puzzle game spinoff released on the 3DS. Grovyle kicks backward, similar to the Samuses' back air. This attack does a surprising amount of damage, almost being a reverse Falcon Knee. The sourspot does a meager 2.4%, but the sweet spot deals 26.9%. The reason this attack deals so much is that Quirky was a skill that gave a slim chance of deleting a few other tiles when matched. This is a hard to hit attack that can obliterate foes, so it’s as close an interpretation as it gets.

Final Smash: Monster House
Once Grovyle obtains the ability to do a Final Smash, the flow of time gets unstable. Upon activating it, Dusknoir appears from a time rift, grabbing forward. If Dusknoir grabs any foes, he drags them back into the rift (like in PMD2). The range of this attack is pretty similar to the Belmont’s Grand Cross. Foes that are caught end up in the destroyed future, where Dusknoir and multiple Sableye attack them. It ends with a lightning bolt and a roar, revealing the silhouette of Primal Dialga. This attack deals 52% with the Smash Ball. It’s a final Smash, it kills. Unlike most of Grovyle’s attacks, this is completely unaffected by Warp Orb Mechanics

First off I just want to say that I'm already extremely impressed with the other movesets, and wouldn't mind if those won over mine. I already thought Grovyle had potential, but after seeing these different movesets my desire to see him join the fray has increased. That being said, I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring and come up with a moveset as well. (Pokémon has rotted my brain too much to allow me not to)

Grovyle & Celebi will be fast fighters, with a high jump, average fall speed and will stand at around the same height as Mario. They will be able to wall jump as well as crawl (they do come from a dungeon crawler after all).

Celebi will be permanently present and will float next to Grovyle, with no hurtbox. I tried to get both of them to both attack in as many moves as possible to fully utilize the potential of a duo fighter such as these two. I'm not sure we'll be voting in another one, and their abilities compliment each other so well so it would be a shame not to. I also feel it captures the synergy of having a partner pokemon in PMD.

Normals:
Jab: Fury Cutter + Expanding Force
For Grovyle's basic Jab, he does two quick punches followed by a psychic blast from Celebi. If it is held down Grovyle will perform a flurry of green-yellow slashes like Captain Falcon or Bowser Jr's Jab, and end with Celebi's finisher when the button is released. Pretty standard for a jab. However, like in the mainline pokémon games, If Jab is used consecutively it will increase in percent dealt for every time use up to a 2x multiplier. It's essentially an inverse stale mechanic, however it resets if you use a move other than jab. I don't think this would be too overpowered as it's just a jab, but it's a neat little reference like Link Forward Smash Sword beams, or Piranha Plant's footstool damage.

Dash Attack: Quick Attack
Being one of Grovyle's few known moves in Explorers of Sky, I figure it should be in his moveset somehow. This move will function similarly to Pikachu and Pichu's recovery, which are both also quick attack, however it will have a lot less range and a hitbox. Grovyle will dash forward in an animation similar to Fox and Falco's Side Special, with an active hitbox the whole time. It has quite decent range, about the same as Meta Knight's dash, as well as decent kill power. Celebi will teleport and reappear where Grovyle dashes to during this move.

Forward Tilt: Standard Attack
The basic move from PMD, used to conserve PP, will be Grovyle's Forward tilt. The animation in the mystery Dungeon games for this move is choppy to say the least, but essentially Grovyle and Celebi will both lunge forward and back into place. It will deal 5% like in the Mystery Dungeon games, and have quite a low knockback at a low angle. It wouldn't be used for killing, but rather to set up combos or tech situations.

Up Tilt: Headbutt
Grovyle does a headbang motion, sending his head leaf in a whip like motion. It's a good anti air with quite a large hitbox, similar to Ridley's up tilt. His head also has a hit box like Wii Fit Trainer's Side Special. Celebi mimics the motion in front of Grovyle, but has much less range since she has no head leaf. it does much less damage as well, but serves to keep the hitbox not just above Grovyle.

Down Tilt: Grass Knot
Grovyle and Celebi both summon a Grass Knot in front of them. Similar hitbox style to Villager's Up Tilt. Like Falco's Down Tilt it sends virtually straight up and sets up for combos.

Smash Attacks:
Forward Smash: Leaf Blade
The tilts were more or less Grovyle with Celebi helping out, however I want to expand her involvement in the rest of the moveset. So for Leaf Blade, instead of simply being a slash from Grovyle, it will be a three hit move like the animation for the move in the mainline games. Grovyle will slash back and forth for two hits, and Celebi will fly between Grovyle and the opponent for the third hit. It will obviously be a relatively long move, similar to Mii Gunner's, but will deal heavy damage and knockback in return. Essentially a faster Cloud Side Special.

Up Smash: Leaf Tornado + X-Scissor
Celebi summons a tornado of leaves around herself and Grovyle, which goes quite far up (less than Palutena's Up Smash though) and has hitboxes on the side as well. This is a multi hit, with a weak finishing hit, definitely not a kill move. However, there's a second part of this move. Grovyle will perform an upward X-Scissor during Celebi's Leaf Tornado. If the opponent is caught low enough in the tornado, then they will also be hit by Grovyle's X-Scissor which will be a kill move. It will have a sweet spot similar to Greninja's Up Smash, but will have quite a bit of start up and end lag.

Down Smash: Leaf Storm
Grovyle and Celebi will summon a storm of leaves, surrounding them on both sides, from head to toe. This acts similarly to Pyra's Neutral Special, being a multi hit, and racking up quite a large amount of damage before having moderate knockback.

Aerials:
Forward Aerial: High Stance Strong Attack + Zen Headbutt
Grovyle will perform a flip before following with two kick attacks similar to Sceptile's High Stance Strong Attack, finishing with Celebi Zen Headbutting them, with a heavy spike effect.

Up Aerial: Slash
Grovyle does a quick upper slash, which has a similar hitbox and damage to a somersault kick, but with his arm blade. It has low knockback and end lag, making it an easy move to juggle and ladder with. Celebi sits this one out unfortunately, I couldn't think of any way to incorporate her.

Back Aerial: Dazzling Gleam
Celebi does a multi hit sparkling attack behind her, which finishes with a strong hit. Grovyle looks behind him, but doesn't attack himself.

Down Aerial: Ancient Power
Celebi will summon ancient rocks with her psychic powers below Grovyle, and Grovyle will kick them down. It will function similar to Mega Man's Down air, with it sending a projectile down that has a spike hitbox on the initial kick.

Neutral Aerial: Blast Seed
Grovyle eats a blast seed, causing a small explosion around him similar to Sephiroth's neutral air. Celebi disappears with a teleport similar to Mewtwo's air dodge, and Grovyle looks shocked, as in the game eating a Blast Seed inflicts self damage. A small amount of percent is dealt to the user as well.

Throws:
Grab: Telekinesis
Celebi uses Telekinesis to grab the opponent and hold them in the air. Since it's a psychic ability the grab range is quite large, however it's not all that fast.

Pummel: Headbutt (again)
Grovyle Headbutts the opponent while Celebi holds them in place. It was the most natural attack I could think off for a fighter who's not physically holding the opponent

Forward Throw: Magical Leaf + Razor Leaf
Celebi launches the opponent forward with her psychic abilities, and follows up with a stream of magical leafs at a close to 45 degree angle, similar to Mewtwo's forward throw. Grovyle also sends two razor leaves off from his arm blades, which are the final hit of the leaf stream. (He can't learn razor leaf but Sceptile has a similar projectile in Pokken)

Back Throw: Psychic
Celebi simply hurls the opponent backwards, again quite similarly to Mewtwo's back throw except its not a kill throw.

Up Throw: Teleport + Grassy Glide
The opponent is moved above grovyle, and Celebi hits the opponent to where she will teleport to, hitting them twice before Grovyle jumps up using Grassy Glide sending the opponent upward, with decent kill power. I'm not sure if that description makes sense, but I'm imagining it like a Dragon Ball fight where the opponent is launched, only for Celebi to appear where their trajectory is sending them before hitting them in the other direction. She does this twice, and Grovyle uses Grassy Glide straight up for the finisher.

Down Throw: Absorb
Grovyle uses Absorb, another one of the few moves he canonically uses in PMD and the opponent is send forward at an angle close to the ground, since the forward throw sends them at a steeper angle. Grovyle does heal a small amount but it's nothing substantial.

Specials:
Side Special: Bullet Seed / Leech Seed
Grovyle and Celebi's Side Special is Bullet Seed and Leech Seed. When held down, more seed will come out starting at 2, and ending at 5. These will function like Sceptile's Bullet Seed in Pokken. Grovyle will shoot down at an angle, and the Seeds will become lodged in the floor similar to Isabelle's Down Special. If the opponent walks over them, they will explode dealing relatively minor damage. having 5 of Isabelle's projectile out at one time would be somewhat OP, so they are clumped together, with 5 seeds having a larger hitbox than the 2 seeds. They will all be detonated at once, so the more seeds out will result in more damage being done to the opponent. Now that's Bullet Seed Explained, but what about Leech Seed? Well, when charging this move, if you input a left or right press, the charger of this move will switch from Grovyle to Celebi and instead of bullet Seed coming out, Leech Seed will. This Is identical in function, except it deals significantly less damage and Heals Grovyle & Celebi a fraction of that damage.

Bullet Seed and Leech Seed are iconic moves of Grovyle and Celebi, so when I saw how it function in Pokken I thought it would be cool to replicate in smash. It also represents the nature of avoiding the trap tiles in Mystery Dungeon which is neat.

Down Special: Treasure Bag
So far, other than most attacks being combo attacks with Grovyle and Celebi, this moveset has been pretty standard. However, this is where the gimmick comes in. Like Hero's Down Special, Grovyle & Celebi's Down Special will open the treasure bag menu from PMD over their stock profile. Unlike Hero's Menu, only one item will appear at a time, with it still being random each time. Additionally, instead of having to cancel out to get a new selection, you can input down to scroll to a new item in the bag. However, you can't scroll back up, so each scroll is a risk, as you may pass on a decent item only to get a worse item, or you can get just the item you need. You can scroll unlimited times, albeit with some frames between each scroll, however being hit will knock you out of the inventory. Grovyle will pull the treasure bag out from behind him during this animation and look through it. (It would be permanently out like in the anime, but no renders or official art include the treasure bag so this will have to work)


Like Hero's menu, this will also require a meter to use. This time it's the Belly Meter from PMD. It starts at 100, and every scroll of the inventory will decrease the amount of belly you have. I'm not sure what a balanced amount would be, but I'm thinking around 5 per scroll. Unlike Hero's MP bar, this will slowly decrease over time, not increase, to better mirror how it functions in the source game. The bar can be refilled by pulling Food from the inventory, which will be relatively common. If your Belly meter does reach zero, which will take quite a bit longer than Hero's bar does, you can use your neutral air to eat a blast seed to fill your belly meter by enough to pull one item. If its an apple or another food item that is pulled then you can eat it to refill your belly. If it's another item, eat another blast seed to try again. However, as mentioned earlier eating a blast seed will deal self damage so there's a price to letting you belly reach zero.

a sprite of the items you have available will appear above your belly meter, the same sprites from PMD, with up to 8 items being holdable at a time. If a new item is pulled when at your limit, the first item in your inventory will be replaced.

I ultimately think this does a good job of representing the gameplay of PMD. The Scrolling is what you have to do when trying to find the right item, items are randomly generated per floor, and you have an inventory limit which is represented by both the 8 item limit and the fact that when you pass up on an item, you can't scroll back to it. I want it to feel like you're hunting through a mini dungeon (your menu) to get the right items for battle, just like in PMD. It also adds an element of stress with the ever ticking belly meter, which anyone who has played PMD can tell you it wouldn't be properly represented without some element of stress.

Neutral Special: Tossed Item
One of the Storable projectiles pulled from the treasure bag is thrown by Grovyle. If you have no items available then Grovyle will throw a Gravelrock, which travels slowly and does weak damage.

Up Special: Aerial Ace / Warp Orb
This is a pretty standard recovery, with grovyle dashing in the air using the move Aerial Ace. This range is pretty poor, somewhere between Falco and Wolf's recoveries. It can also be angled in any direction. Celebi warps and reappears where Grovyle ends up at the end of his recovery during this animation. This move has a single hit hit box on it as well, which is weak but still there.

However, If you have a Warp Orb from your Treasure bag, you will instead Teleport when using your Up Special, giving you intangibility and a recovery with a much larger range.

Final Smash:
Future of Darkness

Dusknoir appears in front of Grovyle and grabs any opponent and takes them through a time portal. They appear in the dark future, and are ravaged by Sableyes before Dialga performs a Roar of Time, dealing heavy damage and returning them to the present match. Its essentially the same as Peridot's final smash, but hey it's a fitting final smash. I was also considering Wigglytuff's Yoom Tah as a final smash, but that would be more fitting for you and your partner and less so for Grovyle. (Wiggly will hopefully get redemption as a pokeball mon)

Summary:
So that's my moveset! It was quite fun to come up with ways to reference as many moves as possible from both the mainline pokemon games, as well as the Mystery Dungeon games.

My goal with this moveset was to approach it in the way that is most reminiscent of the Mystery Dungeon gameplay, similar to the way which Sakurai has implemented recent newcomers. The pokemon you play as still use their moves from the pokemon games, but frantic item management, managing belly, avoiding traps, and a healthy dose of RNG are all elements of Mystery Dungeon which I tried to represent in my moveset. His up air can also ladder kill which is somewhat of a reference to the idea that you climb the staircases in Mystery Dungeon, but I'll concede it's a bit of a stretch. I toyed around with a time travel mechanic and making Celebi more like Luma, but I felt like those were more plot elements and didn't represent the gameplay of PMD as well, which wasn't what I was going for.

On a somewhat still related note, Grovyle was my most wanted for this project, since I joined after my true most wanted Bandana Dee had already been voted on, so I just want to restate how pleased I am with his inclusion. It's been fun writing almost 6000 combined words between my initial submission for him and my moveset for him lol.

Here's where we're at with our current newcomers! According to the front page, there will be a total of 27 new characters, which makes Grovyle & Celebi our midway point! Personally, I love our current blend of fan favorites, legacy characters, oddball picks, and interesting movesets. If your favorite character still isn't Infinite, then make sure to bring your A-game when submitting newcomer ideas. Long and thorough write-ups definitely seem to boost a character's odds, as we've seen with both Galacta Knight and Grovyle (Krook really out here getting everything he wants smh).

Is 27 including the DLC or just the base roster?
27 is just for the base roster, so we've got plenty of chances for fun and interesting newcomers.

Here's where we're at with our current newcomers! According to the front page, there will be a total of 27 new characters, which makes Grovyle & Celebi our midway point! Personally, I love our current blend of fan favorites, legacy characters, oddball picks, and interesting movesets. If your favorite character still isn't Infinite, then make sure to bring your A-game when submitting newcomer ideas. Long and thorough write-ups definitely seem to boost a character's odds, as we've seen with both Galacta Knight and Grovyle (Krook really out here getting everything he wants smh).

I am definitely grateful to have gotten Galacta Knight and Grovyle & Celebi back to back. I think I'll hold off on another manifesto for a while though as all of my most wanted are in at this point lol. (until we get a job where Crazy Dave qualifies that is, then I'm going all in).

So what's our next job besides the moveset
We will vote on Grovyle & Celebi's moveset and submit for a Mystery Dungeon themed home stage for Grovyle & Celebi next. Then do reveal trailers for Takamaru and Grovyle & Celebi as well as some pokeball mons.

Can I suggest Mystery Dungeon be listed as it's own series with it's own symbol? That'd be a good way to explain to players unfamiliar with spin-offs why these Pokemon are talking and such without doing some long-winded explanation.
It’s certainly a valid point but Mystery Dungeon will remain under the Pokemon umbrella much like how Mario Kart/Luigi’s Mansion is under Mario.

IIRC we already merged Mario Kart and Mario's songlists.

Edit: I have replaced one of my tracks in Others. Main Theme - Bubble Bobble has been replaced with a remix of Gadget Room - Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force, specifically another KFAD2 remix to go alongside the Bubsy track.

Edit 2: Wait, we're not referring to them as "Grovyle and Shiny Celebi", are we? Can't we just call them Grovyle and Celebi? and if we're doing that naming convention why aren't we calling Ashley "Ashley and Red"?

I removed that track as it’s connected to Disney which isn’t a company involved with the game and there aren’t any plan currently to bring Disney into the fold. You are free to revert it back to the Bubble Bobble theme; especially since I’ve already added it to our Universe page on the wikia.

Job #97: Submit a Stage based on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

While normally we jump straight into Misc content, we will actually be starting with adding a Stage based on any game in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spin-off series. The reason being is that (Shiny) Celebi’s involvement in the pair has yet to be decided to its rather difficult to predict how she could be incorporated into content like taunts and victory poses. So, instead, we will do the stage first instead of the misc content. Following voting for the moveset and results, we will then open it up to
Misc Content.

Please submit a stage based on any game from the PMD series. Please explain the following in your submission:
  1. Stage layout​
  2. Stage appearance​
  3. Any stage hazards​
  4. Any cameos​
  5. It’s appearance in Omega/Battlefield​
  6. And a reason why it should be included​

  • "Antonball Deluxe" should be listed as "Antonball" as the aforementioned game is part of the latter series
  • "Balan Wonderworld" is mispelled as "Balan Wonderland"
  • "Battletoads" is mispelled as "Battle Toads"
  • "BS-X" and "Sattelaview" are one and the same
  • "Flicky" is absent
  • "Famicom" is mispelled as "Famicon" multiple times
  • "Drill Dozer" lists a Jill Mii Costume as being added, even though we did not vote to add a Jill Mii Costume
  • Multiple series have irrelevant info about previous canon Smash games listed

The main stage is flat and is about the same size as Kalos Pokemon league, there are 2 pillars that you can jump on, and with hazards on you can destroy them,

In the background you can see several notable pokemon that have made waves in the Mystery dungeon games standing in the background or on the large altar

If you want to, you can update this content. It’s obviously still being worked on. I just did for the past six hours and filled most of that content but the page decided to reload on me so I lost all of it. So I give up on it. If anyone else wants to tackle it, feel free but I’m tapping out.

It’s also missing Endless Ocean and Dragalia Lost. I was planning on starting on the Minor Universes and then retyping out all the Main Universes but...well...wasting six hours and being too stupid to save periodically deflated by sails a bit lol.

Job 97: Mystery Dungeon

Because we need our own version of New Pork City and Great Cave Offensive.

My proposal for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is that it represent the very core what a Mystery Dungeon game is, a randomly generated dungeon crawler. The stage will take a very large maze-like appearance similarly to Great Cave Offensive with several open sides and an open ceiling. The layout of the stage however will be randomly generated each time in a grid-like fashion. It will also take one of three different appearances. Let's go over them before I explain the other practical functions of the dungeon. Which dungeon appears can be predetermined with a special button press combination while selecting the stage.

Amp Plains

Based on the Amp Plains from PMD: Explorers, this layout is themed around electricity. The stage takes the appearance of a dull grey cave with some rocks in the background charged with flowing electricity. Because this dungeon is filled to the brim with electricity, parts of the ground will be greatly charged. Certain characters who have have electric affinity will be able to walk over them without harm. For future reference, I'd assign electric affinity to characters that have a notable usage of electricity in their moveset. For example Mr. Game & Watch uses electricity in one of his Judge attacks but it very miniscule in importance to his character whereas Samus has electricity featured in a wide array of her moves. You be the judge on who you think fits.

Brine Cave

Brine Cave is one of the later game dungeons. It's a dungeon located close to the sea making it themed around water. Water will be seen following in the background which will lead to water tiles on the actual ground. It functions like water regularly does in Smash Bros. and will begin to drown any player that goes into it. Characters with water affinity will be able to walk over it as if it was solid ground. These will be characters that primarily use water as an innate ability.

Dark Crater

The final dungeon of Explorer's postgame storyline and one of the few to feature magma tiles. This sinister cave is filled to the brim with running magma and several tiles of the ground will be imbued with it! This functions just like lava does in Smash Bros. with the exception of course that characters with fire affinity can walk safely over it. This will consist of characters with an innate ability to use fire.

Traps

Mystery Dungeon will be filled with secret trap tiles that you won't see until you step on them. Once stepped on, their effect will kick in but will also make itself visible. The traps range from all the following listed with their effects as well:

Gust Trap: The player that steps on it is hit with a powerful windbox that launches them far but does no actual amount of damage to them.

Pitfall Trap: Buries the player that steps on it.

Seal Trap: One of the character's special moves will be locked for 13 seconds.

Selfdestruct Trap: Creates a large explosion that has enough power to KO the victim at 55% and can damage anyone nearby too.

Slow Trap: The player who steps on this trap will be slowed down for 18 seconds.

Spiky Trap: Raises spikes from the ground and heavily damages the victim but does not launch them far.

Spin Trap: Inverts the player's controls for up to 10-30 seconds.

Warp Trap: Teleports the player to a random spot on the stage.

Monster House

The last whacky mechanic of Mystery Dungeon, it's a Monster House!!! Every time a minute passes, there is a 1/55 chance that a Monster House event will occur. When this happens, several Pokeball Pokemon as well as a legendary Pokemon will appear on stage and attack everybody! While this happens, the music will immediately change to the Monster House theme. The Pokemon that appear are as follows:

Amp Plains: Alolan Raichu, Electrode, Dedenne, Togedemaru, Zapdos.

Brine Cave: Staryu, Oshawatt, Cramorant, Pyukumuku, Suicune.

Dark Crater: Vulpix, Zoroark, Fennekin, Fletchling, Darkrai.

Omega / Battlefield Forms

The Omega and Final Destination forms will have a predetermined form and it will take place atop a craggy stone-like platform in front of a background that is reminiscent of Beach Cave, the very first dungeon in the game.
