I think two Donkey kong characters are enough. It is not that big of a seller to Nintendo, same could sadly be said about F-Zero. :ohwell:
But I would like another bad guy though. Maybe Mewtwo could return or Bass from Megaman :)

Actually, DK is the fifth or so best selling Nintendo series, behind only Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, and the Wii series. Not that sales matters much when it comes to roster selection. ;)

Sorry, but that's incorrect. I'm sure someone else is going to jump on this, but I simply can't ignore it. The DK franchise (and largely solely due to the DKC franchise itself) is Nintendo's 4th highest selling property and almost rivals LoZ in sales. There's a reason they made a remake of DKCR for the 3DS, because that game was a ridiculously well-selling game on the Wii.

Before the advent of Pokemon, DKC was the second-highest selling Nintendo franchise, back when Zelda didn't have much of a presence aside from LttP and was only behind Mario which maintains its 1st place position to this day. (Hence, the now-consistent milking of the franchise.)

To say DK deserves only two characters while Star Fox doesn't even get a negative mention for having 3 (While only, mind you, having 6 total games with one being a remake, and only one incredibly well-selling game, which could infact be rivaled by DKC1 and DKC2 individually is complete ignorance.)

Just couldn't let that stand, sorry! :glare:

Edit: I didn't include the Wii series here, which I think surpasses DKC right now, but the point stands that DKC is no less of a juggernaut.

I think I died. Well played, YH. Well played. :happysheep:

Oh, and you know what guys? Even if by some terrible happenstance K. Rool and the Kremlings are in no way in or even referenced in DKC:TF, we have a new solution:

Miiverse. That's right. Kremling fans everywhere will be able to voice their disgust at a lack of Kremlings in a medium Nintendo (and Retro, who has so far responded to literally every OTHER complaint with DKC:TF) are likely to view everyday. We could stuff that place with more Kremlings than even Eathbound fans could compete with.

There WILL be a reptillian revolution. We just need to get him back in the spotlight.

There's only going to be one from any third party series at most.

Mewtwo could return, sure. And yes, DK is a huge seller to Nintendo. Two are hardly enough when they lack a villain. F-Zero, though, I agree could be better. Albeit, Samurai Goroh would be nice to add. On the other hand, Falcon's main reason for being in the series is because he's Sakurai's favorite character, so I'm not holding my breath on more F-Zero playable characters.

I am sorry for thinking it was not selling much. Maybe it is because I am just not a fan myself and because there aren't much DK games. I did always thought K.Rool was an awesome character. But it is not likely with the returns game ignoring him completely.

And here's the thing about that: Returns also ignored Dixie Kong completely, and until recently, she and K. Rool had the exact same past appearance. (i.e. Super Sluggers Q3 2008) Until Tropical Freeze, K. Rool and Dixie were both on the boat to nowhere. However, now she's in Tropical Freeze, and there's a high probability K. Rool will as well, based on vehement fan reaction to lack of Kremlings in DKCR, as well as lack of water levels, Dixie and David Wise (Guess what? All three of those other things have already been revealed to be a part of Tropical Freeze.)

As for K. Rool in the game, while they didn't initially reveal Kremlings and instead vikings, they did reveal the existence of a 4th playable character whom they "Can't reveal yet". While it could if they're complete jerks be a new OC character, I find it more likely it's a classic character like K. Rool. Good way to bring him back without having to introduce the Kremlings as full on villains. However, even if it's someone else, there's still a good chance they'll appear in some form.

And even if that isn't the case, K. Rool still has the highest possible chance as a DK rep for Smash. Why? Because, simply put, the final roster had likely been decided on before Dixie was in Tropical Freeze. And even if it hadn't, it would take alot of nerve for Sakurai to ignore that K. Rool is now the most-wanted Nintendo Newcomer. Or at the very least, in the top three worldwide. And if it helps, Diddy Kong hadn't appeared in a serious DK game for years (His last platforming role was in DK64 before Brawl, and he was left out of Jungle Beat. Guess who got into Brawl?

Maybe it is Kiddy Kong :glare:

*puts away Rope*

Also, lynched is spelled with a Y. :p

But seriously, that's entirely possible anyway. Not that I wouldn't mind some DK64 returnees, but eh.

It could also just be the return of Kiddy Kong. :x *Gets linched*

See, that's my second guess! (Well, actually it's Funky, but I'm one of the few people that would love to see him return. (All I have to see all four Kongs together right now is DKC4 which is a solid game, but still, there's no reason to use anyone but Diddy/Dixie ever.) I still expect K. Rool to show up in some form.

Oops... *fix'd* Thanks for the correction. ^^;

I would actually love the return of Lanky Kong (or any Kong from DK64) in some form but that will probably never happen anyway. :/

Kiddy's ... Not very popular in the DKC fanbase. He's also redundant with DK being playable.

It's so true. Poor Kiddy. There's practically no reason to use him in DKC4. Then again, like I said, both him and DK are useless compared to the Diddy/Dixie team. So good... :shades:

Kiddy honestly wouldn't offer a new playstyle with Donkey Kong present. Kiddy was essentially the Donkey Kong of DKC3, heavy and slow.

I thought nobody liked him...but I don't know that much about DK...
I am just going to sit in the corner now...
I see. Well I'm kinda neutral on Kiddy myself.

But I doubt it's Kiddy. He doesn't sound like someone they "just can't reveal yet".

I find the all "Miss Fit is a motherly figure to Villager"-pics very heartwarming tho. Especially those which don't portray Villager as a psycho.

It's like those two are now paired together sorta for almost walking along the same wavelength.

As much as I'm kinda skeptical about this pairing, it's better than seeing art of the villager being a psycho, so I can respect this heartwarming art here. Just wait til the next newcomer appears, then see how fanart of him/her spreads quickly.

Found exactly what I was looking for in here.

Weird how Brawl had so little compression done it's depressing.

For online, Nintendo moving away from friend codes is a step in the right direction that they are letting down restriction. Now here's to hoping that voice chat is added along with many more modes online and not so many insane restrictions outside of playing with friends. Oh and the terrible lag that plague Brawl absolutely must go.

I'm still bummed that the 3DS version of the upcoming game isn't titled 3D Showdown

Yeah, although it bugs me that the 3DS still has friend codes as far as I know. I don't use it online much, but I'm pretty sure I have one.

Isn't that going to create a totally different experience between the already-superior-because-of-no-friend-codes Wii U version and the 3DS games? Hmm...

I really wish they would make an update for getting rid of friends codes entirely on the 3DS. Sure it's a lot better than the Wii and DS (ugh...), but I don't need to go through the tedious process of adding codes.
