Originally I wasn't planning to do a Microsoft Bingo sheet but, after what I saw yesterday, I changed my mind:

I'm about to go on a tirade here, so don't mind me. But I'm sick and tired of Solid Snake being used as a justification for why Bayonetta would be a good selection for the Super Smash Bros series. Gamefaqs has all but royally ticked me off. First off: there is a large difference between both characters. Bayonetta is a character created around sexual exploitation. Period. If you remove that from her character then you take away a core element of what defined her and makes her unique, appealing, whatever you want to call it; in the first place. Solid Snake is built around the whole idea of being a stealth. Look at the entire Metal Gear Solid series -- "tactical espionage action". He is a soldier. Even if you remove the guns and knives you aren't taking anything important away from his character. He's still snapping necks, throwing grenades and performing special op combat moves. And even with those adjustments many people still never accepted Solid Snake, to which Sakurai has recognized in the past. So why on Earth is he going to add a character that will probably alienate the fanbase more than Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog ever did, and probably ends up removing so much from her character that she's hollow shell of a character throw in for who knows what reason -- certainly won't be for back door promotion I can promise you that. I don't care what reality you live in that makes absolutely no sense. If Sakurai was going to throw Platinum Games a bone he'd be better of going with Viewtiful Joe 2.0 from W101. None of this began until that story that Sakurai visited Platinum Games and most people just assumed it was indicative of something grander than it probably was.

Right now I don't honestly care when the Nintendo Direct pops up. My team is still in the NBA Playoffs, and if they go to the Finals I have a couple more weeks of other things to occupy my time. It's just the moments I go to Gamefaqs remind me how much I want this reveal to be over with.

Well, 2005 was pretty historic to me

It was. In politics that's when the Iraq War turned into a Civil War-esk status and there was lots of cool technology that was announced and released that year.

On top of that, the Xbox 360 was released (with literally nothing to play; seriously, Perfect Dark Zero may have been the best game at launch, and that game sucked), the Wii and the PS3 were announced, etc.[collapse="In terms of great games, we got..."]-the Legend of Zelda: the Minish Cap: A seriously underrated game.
-Resident Evil 4: One of the best action/survival horror games ever.
-Civilization IV: Per usual, a great Civilization game.
-Guitar Hero: The game that started it all and changed rhythm games forever (and now dwells in arcades).
-Shadow of the Colossus: One of the most revolutionary games of all-time.
-God of War: One of the most intense games ever.
-Pokémon: Emerald Version: Basically just another Pokémon game!
-Battlefield 2: Very good game.
-Gran Turismo 4: A game I was obsessed with for a long while.
-Devil May Cry 3: An awesome hack and slash game.
-Lumines: A very underrated game.
-Lego Star Wars: The game that started the awesome Lego trend.
-Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow: The first of many great DS Castlevania games, and a typical great Castlevania game.
Psychonauts: A game with an incredible overworld.
Mario Kart DS: One of the 2 or 3 best Mario Kart games ever.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: Not as good as the first KOTR game, but still pretty great.
Jade Empire: A game I need to play!
-Tekken 5: A typical Tekken game, which means it was awesome.
-Dragon Quest VIII: An incredible experience of a game that I love to death.

^^^ Because of "Nintendo-owned characters only" fanboys. Also, because GameFAQs is stupid, and they want every character to be original, yet they fail to comprehend that Snake is possibly the most original Smash Bros character ever.

Also, Bayonetta is a bit better fit for Smash than SP leads on (because her sense of sexuality is based on her being superior to everyone and having some serious power over everyone; it's like sexual attraction isn't a freaking reason for her to be sexuality), but he is right: Bayonetta doesn't really "fit" in Smash, even as a super ambitious character like Snake was, especially since her "personality" is hard to tone down.

Right now I don't honestly care when the Nintendo Direct pops up. My team is still in the NBA Playoffs, and if they go to the Finals I have a couple more weeks of other things to occupy my time. It's just the moments I go to Gamefaqs remind me how much I want this reveal to be over with.

To be fair, literally all he has going for him is that he's Sakurai's favourite FE character. He's not going to be added over actual important FE characters. Honestly I'm surprised he was even included on the poll. Most people probably don't even know who he is, or they forget. Doesn't help he has a different name in the west.

Though the top 4 are about the same (the only difference is that Mewtwo and Mega Man are essentially swapped), though for everything else there's a shift in positions. For example, Little Mac, Roy, and Bowser Jr. are higher up this time around.

The top 12 are pretty constant as well. K. Rool, Ridley, Mewtwo, Megaman, Palutena, Little Mac, Krystal, and Isaac always have topped the list. It's only more recently has Waluigi, Junior, and Paper Mario started getting high up there. But I think that has to do with how much Non-SWF users I've been polling. (yes, you're now the minority)

I only put him on the poll because of Sakurai's opinion of him. Just wanted every possible choice, I guess. Some characters like Walhart and Phantom Zelda were added because some people personally asked for them. (Both of those were Wiichat users). Battetoads and Conker fall under that catagory as well.

I think a lot of it has to do with Project M, actually. I've seen a lot more Project M-focused smashers on there, which is good. Quite frankly, all of the very vocal wanna be competitive Brawl players on AiB are stupid, and seeing more of an educated fanbase is pretty awesome.

The actual Brawl players trying to get good at the game are generally pretty cool, though. I don't want them to be mistaken for the constant AiB posting newblets.

Pretty much. All most of the (non-Brawl related) blogs are is "I'm quitting Brawl," "I'm back," "I'm leaving," "I'm doing *insert boring thing here*", and "I'm bored."

The other 10% is mostly Brawl-related content, which means I ignore it. What is leftover is usually pretty cool though.

Top 5 you mean (Mewtwo, Roy, Ridley, K. Rool, and Mega Man). Those 5 have been the characters not in Brawl people have wanted the most since the day Brawl was released over 5 years ago (yes, it has been that long).

Actually, those 5 have been the most "wanted" characters since people found out Ness, Jigglypuff, and Lucario were in Brawl (since Captain Falcon, Falco, Luigi, and all the other hidden Melee vets that made it into Brawl were a gimme).

It is funny how in that regard the more things change (in terms of our views of those characters, with Mewtwo and Roy getting redesigns, K. Rool becoming more relevant, Mega Man getting all but canned by Capcom, and Ridley still being Ridley, but now, giving Samus PTSD-related episodes), the less things change.

Having both Palutena and Dark Pit in an unveil trailer isway too self-indulging in regards to his own works for Sakurai, especially considering how little demand there is for Dark Pit. The far more popular King Dedede (relative to Dark Pit) did not make his way into an unveil alongside Meta Knight. Dark Pit being a completely unique character shown alongside another completely unique Kid Icarus newcomer (Palutena) sounds really off, and him being a newcomer clone (clones are usually never starters) does not work either. Either way having Dark Pit among the first characters shown is really off.
