I doubt monolith soft will be working on Sm4sh due to them being busy with Project X Zone and their game on the Wii U. Though it would be cool if they did go and help with it. Kinda interesting as monolith soft used to work with namco on the xenosaga series so it'd be cool to see them work together again on smash. And yeah, I think Sakurai is now just throwing ideas and suggestions not so much running everything as it seems like harada and the namco guys are much more excited for it.

What does Genesect have to do with anything?

:phone:
Would you relax? Seriously you don't have to come at me like that Genesect is one of the popular choices for a new Pokemon rep that's why I brought it up.

If anything, I'm just glad that Namco is on board so that together with Team Sora, they can make a good game faster.

I loved playing 64, Melee and Brawl alike, and I do prefer playing Brawl, but I still want to see how much people will complain with this new iteration.

Sakurai will be just as involved as he always has been. The comment about him wanting Brawl to be his last smash was taken out of context. He has stated multiple times he creates each Smash as if there were not going to be a sequel. He thought the first, Melee and Brawl would be the last of their kind. It was only after Brawl did he give hypothetical comments if he were to make another. Basically I doubt he will be a Miyamoto for this game. He will undoubtedly be the driving force behind almost everything and this game will be treated as if it were the last smash he will ever create.

I'm glad you said that. There has suddenly been a lot of people saying how Sakurai didn't want to work on Brawl or said it would be his last. BOTHERED ME but I didn't even know what it was they were misinterpreting so I would just have to resort to "don't be dumb" again.

There were a some news articles about Project Sora dissolving noting how Sora Ltd.- Sakurai- handed off development to Namco while he supervised. It was probably the way that was worded that tipped everyone off that he was "just" supervising. That degree of supervision was never mentioned and yes, Sakurai's probably directing the game.

Genesect has been officially revealed.

:phone:
Well the Pokemon Company is certainly throwing off years of Pokemon speculation again. lol

Still betting against Genesect though.

Woaah, superious plot twist there indeed. So will this mean that Namdai's gonna be more developing this game now than we think? I know there's Sora Ltd but... (-l~l-);

Project Sora though would have been such an awesome studio work on Smash Bros... I feel like we lost something very great here...

Sora Ltd. is just Sakurai and his assistant. And I'm sure they'll still be extremely involved in the creation of the game. But yeah, Namco's developing it under the supervision of Sakurai.

...So wait, the workers themselves aren't even being carried over to the new team? That would be a bizarre move, especially after all that talk about looking for workers and using Uprising as a way to familiarize themselves with the 3DS before working on Smash. I understand they would look to Namco's experience, but not even using the extra help from the Project Sora members?

I guess that's what dissolves means. HMMM would speak greatly of the kind of confidence Sakurai has in Namco.

That's what I was thinking. They're still trying to find out what happened to the employees.

Monolith Soft was involved with the development of Brawl. There is also a chance that they could work on Smash WiiU and/or Smash 3DS after they finish developing Project X Zone. As for Sakurai, he's always excited for a new smash bros, and he always put 110%. Now finally the rest of the development team is carrying their weight (in Namco Bandai).
Why would it be a man?
Sakurai referred to his assistant as a "he" before. I have a feeling that Sakurai's assistant worked with Sakurai at HAL Laboratories.
Since some tekken characters is probably gonna be in smash 4, I'm even more anticipated to buy it.
I doubt we'll get a playable Tekken character. Instead, I think we'll get Namco Bandai Games' mascot, who's name everyone knows.
Pac-Man.

That is the only thing I have not been able to find out yet, is what happened to the employees from Kid Icarus: Uprising who were supposed to be working on Smash 4. My thought is that if those employees were part of other companies, then it might be that the companies those workers belonged to might also be helping in development. It wouldn't be surprising to see Namco and a couple other Nintendo studios (Hal, Tokyo EAD, Monolith) collaborating under Sakurai's supervision. That or, as you said, it is more of a testament to Sakurai's trust in Namco, if that is the case, the demo Namco presented to Sakurai must have been very impressive...

I'm still saying that if we hear, or see, anything more from Super Smash Bros 4 this year it will be in September.

Because at first I just thought it was like a closure on the building or whatever. Which didn't really mean anything because it's a subsidiary of Sakurai's own company and he can do whatever.

Though here's an idea. A studio was opened for the development of Brawl and (as far as I know) only for Brawl. It was made to lessen travel time or something I think? And make working with a larger team more efficient. I THINK?

Could have closed down one studio just to open up another so everyone from Project Sora and Namco could all collaborate in one building.

But that's not was "dissolved" means.

Not to mention numerous sources saying that the project was "handed off" to Namco.
Doesn't sound to positive in regards to the idea of the Project Sora employees joining in on the fun.

EDIT: But then again, there are a lot of sources saying that they were co-working on it too. Hell, maybe I misread the articles. But there are a lot of articles wording things differently from others. Meh.

Pac-Man or a Soul Calibur character are more likely than a Tekken character.

Pac-man: Namco's mascot/most prolific chararacter.

SC character: Link made a cameo in GCN's SCII version so a SC character isn't too crazy within the unlikely realm of the possibility. Cervantes would be my pic since he's the one who begins the series of events within the canon of the SC universe. Plus, he's my favorite char, lolz.

Pacman with limbs is just so wrong. Please don't include that monsterous abomination Namco.
Pac Man has always had limbs.

Even in the old school days.

The technology back then was just too limited to have it in game.

However, the artwork for the game, such as on the arcade machines, had him with limbs.

There is also the television show that had him with limbs

The only thing I find wrong with Pac-Man is the face, but Psycho's right. He's always had limbs and a really creepy face.

Sadly, if Namco actually decides to put a character or two in the fray, Pac-Man has extremely high chances regardless of how much his smile creeps me out.

EDIT: I want Pac-Man in, don't get me wrong. Just... stop... smiling...

Possible SC characters (IMO):

Cervantes - The earliest host seen.
Algol - The "Hero King".
Seigfried - The main character.
Nightmare - The other side of the main character.
Seigmare - A swapable character or FS power with Night Terror based darkside moves.
Mitsurugi - Not sure why but he seems a reasonable choice to me.
Yoshimitsu - 2 games in one character.

The funny thing is that no one wanted nor thought that Namco could possibly get a character in until now.

This Namico-ordeal really does improve Pac-Man's odds. But I'm worried, now. It's just change, but still, it makes you wonder just how much this is going to change SSB.

Yoshimitsu is from Tekken and Soul Calibur. He has a good chance, acting as a swift, sword user with ninja tricks like disappearing, climbing walls, etc.
Also, I'm back. I'm at the beach.:p

i feel that the more diverse the movepool of the soul calibur character, the easier it would be to allocate the moves to the up down side neutral b moves... Cervantes, Yoshimitsu, Ivy, Aeon Calcos. Taki/Natsu, uhhh... there may be more, but these are the easiest to make an Up B with imo.

Bleck, how about we just leave Namco characters alone. If we want to have surprise characters, lets try Nintendo characters first.

Ugh, Pacman. Just no. >_>
I'd much rather have Yoshimitsu or Nightmare.

No offense to the Yoshimitsu supporters, but wouldn't his presence lead to identity confusions? I mean, we already have someone named Yoshi in the Super Smash Bros. series.

On the other hand, I'd be contradicting myself with the Black Shadow and Black Mage support.

If all else fails, they can refer to Yoshimitsu as Samurai like how the SF community handled the three SF2 bosses.

Why thank you, I will believe that. :troll:

Back on both old threads, Namco barely ever came up and few people ever really gave an interest towards them (Megaman and Square Enix were all powerful), outside of Shortie occationally saying he wanted someone from Soul, most Namco characters were shot down. Heck, the largest Namco related discussion we had was a 2 page discussion on why Pac Man wouldn't be a good fit for Smash.

I'm postive that most Namco character discussion is a result of expecting a character as of late.

I've been wanting Lloyd for a long time even though I didn't bring it up. I want him way more than Pac-Man. Heck there are way more third parties I want more than Pac-Man.
