Any theory formulated in like the past month is one I'm probably unfamiliar with. Including this one.I think he's referring to the "TV Screen" theory. I think.
He was? I thought Squirtle was.No, I'm talking about the changes from Brawl to Smash 4. Olimar was the shortest character in Brawl. Now, he's not.
I guess Ivysaur was technically the shortest character, except when he's standing on 2 legs.He was? I thought Squirtle was.
What does it matter, it all seems to be very nice IMO.No, this is.
Sorry...Double PostNo, this is.

I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going.
This has to be the best picture ever.
Well I don't doubt he'll be in the game, but what leak is this?

How the hell did Sakurai stage that picture? He had to make a tree with villager, cut it down, get villager off camera lickity split, get a single pikmin in there but not Olimar(probably threw it over Luigi's head?), and have Luigi taunt. I mean I guess it's possible with multiple players, but man. Of course I'm assuming he didn't use any developer magic.I agree, but I wouldn't be upset at any of the 3 making it in over each other.
Luigi's screenshots are the best of any character
Well, if he is talking about this theory, it is the theory that Ness is seen on the Nintendog's stage on the TV Screen in the background. Think of it almost as a minor version of "the clouds" pre-Brawl.
I see. Well yeah, that does look like Ness (and Jigglypuff). Personally I think this is unrelated to them being characters (which is pretty inevitable), and more just an Easter Egg of some kind, but nice find anyway.
Thanks Star! ^_^First off, congrats N3ON on becoming part of the empir... I mean moderating staff. If there is any user deserving of that honor, it certainly is you.
YesWas this Luigi confirmation for the Year of Luigi, or Mario & Luigi: Dream Team?
Both. The direct refers to the Year of Luigi before his reveal, but the website ties him in with Dream Team. Was this Luigi confirmation for the Year of Luigi, or Mario & Luigi: Dream Team?
The Olimar reveal around Pikmin 3 is now certainly not a coincidence. They'll probably continue this trend, but I suspect they won't be revealing any newcomers to the series in this manner.First off, congrats N3ON on becoming part of the empir... Nice to see Luigi confirmed. Knew it had to happen at some point this year since it is his year after all. What surprises me -- and yet doesn't at the same time -- is how they are using his reveal to drum up awareness for Mario and Luigi: Dream Team before the title releases this Sunday, for the US anyways. I think at this point it is a little more than coincidence. Would not surprise me in the least if we see Diddy Kong and Peach revealed closer to the end of the year when Tropical Freeze and 3D World are set to release. The one interesting thing will be to see if Sonic the Hedgehog shows up in October when Lost World releases for the Wii U and 3DS. Time will tell how Nintendo and Sakurai are going to continue this trend, if at all.
Equally interesting to me is that Luigi, previously an unlockable character, had been shown so early. Hopefully his reveal is an indicator he won't be unlockable this time around. No real need for it after three games. He deserves front-man status by now. Also, I can't be the only one disappointed we didn't see a Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon stage reveal in any of the 3DS screenshots?
Oh, there we go. Very nice pic.Sakurai put up a Miiverse comment! And a second Pic of the Day!
"A REAL pic of the day--Luigi joins the battle! In prior games, we've never introduced Luigi before release, but why not? This is the "Year of Luigi," after all."
If Sakurai's Miiverse comment is anything to go by, he was revealed to coincide with the Year of Luigi; but there is a link to the official Mario & Luigi: Dream Team website on Luigi's character page so make of it what you will. Was this Luigi confirmation for the Year of Luigi, or Mario & Luigi: Dream Team?
So that comment going "Pic of the day (not really)" was real after all? I don't have an account, so I can't check for myself.Sakurai put up a Miiverse comment! And a second Pic of the Day!

Same here.So that comment going "Pic of the day (not really)" was real after all? I don't have an account, so I can't check for myself.

Why do you do this to me?I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going.
Pretty much this Chrono. Considering Mario and Luigi: Dream Team is the last of the the original "Year of Luigi" titles revealed -- at least as far as I remember -- it's kind of fitting they tied him into this one.Both. Probably safe to say any newcomers are going to be independent of what games are coming out unless they are a Pokémon or a third party character, otherwise it will probably be this monthly drip of cross promotional veteran reveals. The Olimar reveal around Pikmin 3 is now certainly not a coincidence. They'll probably continue this trend, but I suspect they won't be revealing any newcomers to the series in this manner.
Oh, and I'm also disappointed by the lack of a Dark Moon stage, hopefully we'll get some screenshots of one later, or at least get a Dark Moon stage in the game, screenshots/footage or not.
However, third off, it makes me start to question if there will be unlockable characters at all in this game. Fighting games these days sometimes go for the route of having everyone right from the start, an example being Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Actually Tag 2 is not a pure example. On the PS360 versions, Unknown is an unlockable character by beating Arcade while eight other characters were time releases. However, everyone is available from the start in the WiiU version.
Since we're on the topic. What is everyone's thoughts on the entire roster being playable from the start?
Personally I've always enjoyed playing through the game and unlocking the characters (not through SSE), hopefully with most of the requirements being even a little bit of a challenge. It's always felt more rewarding to me, and I'm guessing other people who don't follow the pre-release information/leaks/speculation are quite surprised and possibly elated to find hidden characters they weren't expecting, but from a pick-up-and-play multiplayer perspective, I can see why the entire roster being initially playable would be beneficial. I doubt Sakurai is going to go that route, even with revealing Luigi and everything, but I suppose it's a possibility. Not my choice though.Since we're on the topic. What is everyone's thoughts on the entire roster being playable from the start?
I agree. My (mostly random) guesses for the remaining four are Diddy, a Pokemon character, Peach, and a newcomer. Though now I'm less sure on Peach... but I don't have any better ideas.Looking at the character pages on the website it isn't hard to imagine we'll get four more characters by the end of the year -- there are four boxes left on the second page. Probably just coincidence, but kind of interesting considering the monthly drip we've been discussing.
