This site has not been happin' lately.

DJ, I'd team with you but I just assumed I'd team with Josh since our original plans to team fell through the other weekend. However, if he plans to ditch me again (:p) then we can.

Greetings fobs. I have (successfully?) created a calendar event for our thread and merged it with the old thread. The advantages? We can now get the red melee tag...

But seriously, I think this new system has potential, and I do not mind using our thread to test it and make it better. I cannot have all caps in the thread title("Ssbo" looked pretty lame imo), but with the new space for titles I can print the full name of our tournament AND put in some silly nonsense. I think I may have to create a new calendar event every time we have a new tourmament, which would be fobtastic.

Also, the new event formatting may disappear after the event passes, I don't really know how this new system will work.

Oh well, such is the price of progress. Hopefully these changes will be for the better. If you any requests or would like us to change anything, please let us know. This is a learning experience for me as well.

I'm looking forward to the endless possibilities.

I am convinced that Josh hates me, lol. And f'n Zodd, rofl. You can be him as long as I'm Skull Knight. :p

But now who's going to be my designated escort to the bathroom if/when I drink this weekend? Cause I sure as **** know I won't be able to manage it on my own, rofl.

DJ, I had a special plan for teams already. If it doesn't work I'll team with you.

This is just my attempt to raise Purdue attendance. I KNOW there are a lot of people at Purdue who lurk this thread, but do not post or go to tournaments. Here's what I'll do...

If you have not entered in more than one SSBO tournament and you would like to team, I'll team with you. Just post or pm me or something. SSBO L will be a fun tournament regardless, so I encourage all of you to come out. It's #50!! :D

I can, provided I don't need to go into the bathroom and help you aim.

EDIT: @ Jay, if you buy Sonic Colors, I will deny ever knowing you.

Also, Marvel vs. Capcom 3's release date has been confirmed for my birthday (Feb. 15th)! Awesome!

I said we should try teaming some time >.>. Neither of us actually confirmed it. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Plus, last tournament you teamed with Lance... so I don't know how I ditched you. If you look at the situation from my perspective last tournament you could say you did the same thing to me. So once again I'm sorry and it was a misunderstanding.

I could explain to you a million times why Sonic Adventure was good for its time and you still would be a Matt living under a no-Sega rock.

And I'll house you, as long as you MM me in SSF IV and Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix.

I'm going to bring Sonic and the Black Knight to the tournament. I bet people will like it :D. SA1 had cool glitches tho. Like you could get Tails in Sonic's levels. And other characters in others levels. Also, I almost full cleared SA1 in one sitting because when I got my Dreamcast I didn't have a memory card lol. But, my mom yelled at me and I had to quit playing :(

i like knuckles cuz he doesn't act like he's on speed. Also I think it might be better to stay up all night friday instead of going to bed only to wake up at 530 soooo Friday night shenanigans (did i even spell that right?) when and where?!

another thing , how come fro and goose have "+" by their names? I want a "pervy thing that i don't want to post because some people view this thread that i don't know and might not get my sense of humor" by my name <.<

Well, after reading like everyone's post about the game, I guess it's just me.

It's weird thinking this, but maybe the slight age difference played a big part. Like, the 3-4 year difference with most of you (not including Lance cuz he's a chob), doesn't really add up to anything now, but back in '99 when I was like 15 and you fobs were only 12 or so, playing a more serious and oftentimes more complicated type of game like an RPG would've been tailored more towards my age group (I'll be the first to admit that during that time, if the game didn't span 3-4 discs, or have a spikey-haired protagonist, I probably wasn't going to give it the time of day), whereas a game like Sonic running around very fast and in 3D!!!! (but with no real story or character development, and poorly executed overall) would've been geared more towards preteens and stuff. But at the same time, I very much enjoyed Smash 64 and that came out the same year. Plus, I liked Melee, and I obviously would've been even older then, so that punches even more holes in my little theory.

Not to mention, the more I think about it, I played RPG's literally when I was 8 years old, and when I barely even knew what was going on (I know I told the story to a few of you about how my bro and I rented Final Fantasy 4 but returned it because we didn't know how to play it and just assumed it was broken, lol), so maybe age doesn't play as big of a role in determining what types of games kids are going to enjoy as I might think it does.

Also, you're mainly just talking about the game being good for its time, so age doesn't really even play a factor. I just don't think I would've even liked it had I played it in '99.

So I dunno. I'm really just rambling off the top of my head to be quite honest, heh.

And I'll house you, as long as you MM me in SSF IV and Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix.
A very speedy response regarding my biweekly blight of being homeless. THANK YOU!

Heh. MAYBE I'll dabble in SSF IV. The biggest problem is that I know NOTHING about it. I seriously don't even know the difference between a super and an ultra. -_- And with Puzzle Fighter, not like I even know how to play it to begin with, but we can mess with that game after a few drinks. I'll totally be as slow as balls, lol.

-EDIT-

I have a plus thing by my name? What the d***? I don't even know what that means. Also, yeah Josh, of course there's going to be crazy stuffs happening Friday night. I dunno where or when it'll start though.

True story:
The earliest RPG memory I can recall is staying home sick from school (I was legitimately sick, I think I was 7?) playing Super Mario RPG. I never did get past the sunken ship at that age, but the game was sooooo compelling.

I think my first RPG was FF:Mystic Quest. I remember buying it with all my saved allowance (took a long time, poor family ftl) from a game store in Springfield.

Matt being a Matt.
I didn't say Sonic Adventure was for everyone, but rambling about how bad it was when it was definitely solid for its time (pre-PS2, mind you) is unnecessary. And trust me, Sonic Colors, even by the standards of '99, is worse than Sonic Adventure, hence my response to Jay.

Also, if you want to, I could give you a tutorial of SSF IV. I know pretty much all of the game's basics and fundamentals, and can at least demonstrate them all with Ryu. SSF IV is HOT right now. The hype is unbelievable.

As for Super Drunk Puzzler: Mattson Remix, sure, you're on.

The only RPG's I ever played were the pokemon games. Not until I got into college did i start expanding my rpg library and even now it's small. So matt, I'm bringing my PS2 up (along with my SF 3rd strike disk =X) after christmas, so you lend me chrono trigger and i'll lend you Majora's Mask (if lance isn't finish with it by then) because that is the game you should have f-ing played in the 1998 to 2001 era.

*sigh* I didn't ramble on about how bad it was. I did criticize it for its lack of story, character development, and overall delivery. But more importantly, I only said it because I was trying to bring up a point about how, at that time, a new Sonic game that was fast-paced and in 3D could, even though it was lacking in other important areas, still very easily attract kids especially around 10-12 years old, and that perhaps with me being a little older, it was the reason why I was more attracted to games geared towards a more mature audience. But, as I mentioned in my previous post, I really don't even know how much merit that has. If you thought the game was good for its time, then fine. It would be tough for me to say either way.

Believe it or not, I didn't say it to try and piss you off.

Heh, I'll think about it. Trying to get good at that game would be a big project to tackle, and, well, you know me. :oneeye:

I can definitely tackle this though.

OMG Josh, you BETTER expand that RPG library! Yeah, I already put Chrono Trigger and Windwaker in my bag the other day for you and Lance.

And yeah, I know, I should've played Majora's Mask a long time ago. My friend Matt has been harping on me to play it too. :/
