Yep, there's a whole versus mode for up to 4 players.
They said that it's 2.8 characters per week until now, and that it's possible we end getting just 70 characters. But that's just opinions.
It's as reliable as any unproven hypothesis is I guess. For what it's worth, it does seem like the character trailers are slowing down on the blog.
If they're using something from Majora's Mash to tease something, I would imagine it would be to tease content for, well, Majora;s Mask.
Just adding to what the others have said, this is the second straight week where we only got 2 characters on the blog. That’s not really concerning since we’ve gotten 4 before so it could still even back out. I guess it depends on if we do get a direct this coming week. That would most likely give us 4 characters on the blog next week assuming we get two unique newcomers.

The thing to note is that the reason why the early reveals tend to be huge for fans is precisely due to maximum market. The "best" have never been saved for last for the same reason. I mean it's no coincidence that the only two newcomers advertised as selling points are

One thing that makes me wary about assuming no assist trophy appearance makes him safe is because he was an unlockable assist in Brawl.
Gray Fox was also unlockable in Brawl.
This is what I was think as well. I think there will be very little left unrevealed this time
Somewhat comforting but one (previously) unlockable assist being shown off doesn't really mean Isaac can't be a hidden unlockable assist trophy.
Color TV Game-15 is also unlockable and that too was revealed to be in Ultimate. Does that help?
Is there even unlockable assists this time? All stages are available from start, for example. Of course, characters are a different story but they are still revealed beforehand.
Obviously, not good. Even Ice Climbers had trophies in Smash For.
Since songs are separated by series now, Golden Sun songs would be playing in an 'Other' section if Isaac isn't a character himself. Despite cutting Isaac's assist in 4, they still added a track, don't see why they'd completely just drop GS music especially with the insane amount of music in this game.
I don't think it really matters, as they showed off Isaac on the Smash Dojo either way.
For me, Isaac still has lots hope and many chances! (base game, DLC, Smash 6's base game and Smash 6's DLC). It's clear the Smash Ballot has worked with successes like Ridley and King K Rool. If Issac wasn't in Smash (in any form), there would be a massive uproar. People will become vocal and eventually Isaac would become playable or reinstated as an Assist. Sakurai is all about pleasing the fans and Golden Sun's fans are screaming right now. He will have heard.
I find it hard to believe that Nintendo or Sakurai has that much of a raging hatred for Golden Sun.
Definitely not. It's more of a realization that the series isn't as profitable and therefore may not be worth the time. Have you ever heard of Muddy Mole and his game Mole Mania? That's a prime example. He's one of Nintendo's IP and is rarely heard of. Mainly because it isn't profitable. And yet, it is perfect for Sakurai to represent.
Thankfully Square Enix proved to Nintendo that turn based rpgs are still in high demand with Octopath so that kills the question of profitability.

But TBQH, Starfy was Japan-only before anyway - I just feel like they took a very big haul from the water that'd brought them something amazing if nurtured, and instead proceeded to skewer the heck out of it before hanging it's head to the lovely hall o'fame with other rather ridiculed characters in Smash-series overall.
On that end... I'd definitely dig Mole Mania be repped in Smash Ultimate. (HAH) I think Muddy would be very unique and fun addition when done right. Wish we saw him someday...
More or less. It's probably even worse with how producer of Starfy-games, Hitoshi Yagami, seems to have moved on from the series to now being the lead on most of the new installment in Nintendo's currently profiting IPs, like the Xenoblade-games, FE, Pokemon, and more. Ironic too since he also produced Panel De Pon, which also got badly snubbed as of recent years and now is mainly living on as "that puzzle minigame in Nintendo-IPs"-thing,
