So now we wait, I still think she's being confirmed tomorrow, though the likely lack of a Nintendo Direct does hurt chances.

If you ask me, it'll probably just be a mediocre pic; the "disappointment" of the week if it's more disappointing than Monday's.

The thing is, I'm afraid Palutena might fall into the specific occasion reveal category, aka, March 23rd which is KI:U's anniversary.

Of course Rosalina, the only other newcomer outside of E3, didn't have a special date (at least not that I know of). But who can say really.

I would be careful assuming any character is guarantee for reveal for a newcomer. Even if the Palutena leak is true it doesn't necessary mean she'd be the next newcomer to be shown.

All I know for sure; as soon as Iwata says "We have one last thing to show to you today", I'm giving my full attention.

There was a guy who "leaked" that Palutena would be revealed in the next Nintendo Direct, along with "Mario Kart 8 characters, Tropical Freeze info, 2 Wii U games and 2 3DS games." Not that that's not easy to guess or anything, but it's worth taking note of, since the obvious gamble for leakers would be to leak a DK newcomer around that time frame.

That's also interesting.

I suppose that makes sense. It's not entirely straight forward, although the Mario Kart thing seems sketchy to me. Who else do you show off as far as characters? We've seen everybody INCLUDING the baby characters. I could see them capping off Tropical Freeze with something in it, so that much makes sense.

Well I actually don't remember. Only thing I know was that SSBB was released in the U.S. on 3/9/08 (because that's when I got the game, too), but I do remember that Japan got it about a month earlier than us... just forgot the exact date though.

Besides, if they're removing her from Pit's Final Smash, they're going all or nothing with her. Not putting her in an Assist Trophy slot.

Excluding the Spring release bit he "deconfirmed" them by doing nothing aside from updating casually, otherwise he didn't care. There's nothing saying he'll address this leak in particular right now, especially if it wasn't planned yet.

I'm not trying to say she won't be revealed, but don't expect her above all others either. If Sakurai desires to not reveal her yet, she won't be addressed.
