Well, I mean, K. Rool does have a hatebase. They typically claim that his design is uninteresting, he has no move set potential, and that he's irrelevant and Nintendo hates him now. But, you're right, Ridley's is much, much larger.
However, I don't think hatebases will influence the ballot at all. You can't really send in an "anti-vote" for a character, so there's nothing that Ridley's or K. Rool's hatebases can do to prevent their inclusion. So, ultimately, it comes down to who has the larger fanbase, and I'm fairly certain that goes to Ridley. However, like Smashoperatingbuddy123 said, a portion of Ridley's fanbase is going to vote for somebody else because he's a stage boss, so they view his inclusion as unlikely. I don't really know what to think at this point. Ridley or K. Rool one is going to come out on top, definitely, but I'm not sure which one...

K.Rool will no doubt be top tier choice, and by that I mean Ridley has a BIG hatebase

Wolf just so happens to get hired by Andross and Waluigi is the anti-Luigi.

Who I think are going to be the most popular votes in the Smash Ballot (Counting veterans and newcomers).
1. Wolf - Obviously (He's likely already in development considering Lucas)
2. King K. Rool - Heavy fanbase and extremely popular. Plus DK needs more reps.
3. Isaac from Golden Sun - Unique fighting style, one of the biggest fanbases of a Nintendo character ever. (I want him in myself)
4. Ridley - Popularity decreased with Sakurai's thoughts and that he's a boss.
5. Ice Climbers - Popular but issues with the Nintendo 3DS hardware. I have an idea for that though. New 3DS can make you choose between 1 Ice Climber on screen or 2. Normal Nintendo 3DS is just 1 Ice Climbers. Wii U is just like New 3DS.
6. Roy - Very popular Fire Emblem character and could de-clone him.
7. Snake - I just want him to return in E3 with Wolf and when he first appears in the trailer he says "Kept you waiting huh". He's also quite popular.
8. Any joke character like Shrek or Goku
9. Young Link - Just like Roy you can de-clone him but I'm doubting this guy to be honest. We already have Toon Link.
10. Pichu - I'm doubting this guy but you can make him hit way harder so he's a good glass cannon. If they buff him great. If they don't then he's my least favourite clone (Even more then Dark Pit and that says something).

The hatebases for clones more comes from the misconception of
"Clones took muh slots and lots of time"
Lucina has her hatebase. They just aren't very vocal and I absolutely despise the Miis.


Wolf fights against Fox numerous times however that's due to being hired by Andross who is against the Cornerian Fleet who hired Star Fox. The only time this doesn't apply is in Assault where it's more of a "Get off of my property" But they help out later on in Corneria.

Anti-Villains, anti-heroes, villains.. just characters that aren't heroes haha. Ganondorf, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Dedede and Wario needs some friends. Mewtwo is a good start!

As for Ridley.. Sakurai can do it if he changes his mind. All he has to say is JK I PULLED A SAKURAI ON YA'LL RIDLEY IS IN.

I may as well cover the veterans myself.
I never cared much for these guys. I played the NES Ice Climbers on virtual console, and I thought the game and the physics were horrible, so I don't think that game needs much representation.
It'd be cool to see him be luigi-fied, I guess.
I can appreciate a good joke character. I'd totally play him just for the lolz sometimes if he made it, but I don't think it's really necessary.
We already have two links, plus that Mii outfit that's coming with the DLC. I'd rather see a new Zelda rep.

Pokemon trainer was my main in Brawl. I'd be thrilled to see these two come back.
Can't say I ever cared much for him, since I never really played Metal Gear.
He's going to get in, one way or another. But I think he also deserves it, especially with a new Starfox coming out.

That said, I don't hate any of these characters, and I won't actively object to any of them getting in.

Before I say anything further, I'm not voting for anybody that's in the game as: A Pokeball, Part of a Final Smash, An Assist Trophy...etc. Otherwise I'd vote for like, Gardevoir for some Gen 3 representation. I think I'll stick to 4 votes, 2 veterans, 2 newcomers.
My votes are LIKELY for:
Roy: He deserves a chance to return, Fire Emblem swordsman or not. (although I'd prefer if he was a semi-clone). Also consider that he was planned to return alongside Mewtwo and the Doc after all. Would that make 5 Fire Emblem characters? Sure, but it's grown to an incredibly popular franchise after all.
Wolf: Shoo in, but still deserves the votes. We need our villain from Star Fox back.
Isaac from Golden Sun: After hearing friends talking about him, and seeing him in Smash Flash 2, I feel he'd be a great character and would represent an underloved series! Plus he'd be much more unique than "A regular swordfighter."
Lana from Hyrule Warriors: I haven't played too much of that game, but adding such a unique character like Lana into Smash would be quite interesting. I've had friends show and explain how she fights and I feel she'd fit right in. Plus, she'd diversify the Zelda lineup from just the main characters and represent a highly praised spinoff game.

This would mean we would have:
1 shiny new Golden Sun rep. (As well as another character to be upgraded from AT to Playable, like Little Mac)
6 Legend of Zelda Reps (Ties them up with Pokemon and puts them 1 less rep behind Mario).
5 Fire Emblem Reps (Perfect amount and still stays behind the main 3 Franchises).
3 Star Fox Reps. (2 of the main heroes, and one of the main antagonists).

A thing to note about my choices is, none of them were my "personal choices" besides Isaac, and even then, I never played Golden Sun. I'm voting for who I believe are the best choices for Smash. Another thing, the only one I've voted for so far was Roy. (although I still am tempted to vote for Gardevoir, but I digress).

I am extremely pleased with Smash 4 Mewtwo being a buffed up Melee Mewtwo. It's what I wanted all along, and I think the new visuals and animations are awesome! Along with his amazing new taunts and incredible new Final Smash, I personally couldn't possibly be pleased more with how Mewtwo turned out.

As for the Tourney Mode and the Miiverse Stage, I assume Tourney Mode is having the finishing touches added to it, and that's why they didn't show it off. Developing Mewtwo must've preoccupied most of the development team, so it shouldn't be a surprise that they're still working a little on it. Plus, Mewtwo has to be coded to work with Tourney Mode, and vice versa, so they're probably still making sure that Mewtwo is compatible with it.
I don't really know about the Miiverse stage. Once again, it's possible that Mewtwo preoccupied the devs, so they might still be adding the finishing touches to it. And, also like Tourney Mode, Mewtwo has to be compatible with the stage, so they might be working on that, as well. It's a shame they didn't show the Miiverse Stage off, though, because I was actually kinda looking forward to it. It looks like a nice alternative to Battlefield if I'm ever in a more laid-back mood, so I'll definitely be using it once it releases.

Also, I'm gonna say this right now: If I ever get Premium, my rank will be "NonSpecificGuytwo" or "NonSpecificGuy-lite" or something of that nature. "We dreamed of creating the world's most likable user... And we succeeded!"

I don't watch anime, but from what I can guess, we seem to have 8/51 that fit that criteria (I guess). That's hardly any to be freaking out about.

I agree with what you said about DK and Starfox needing more reps. But then you say no more FE characters because they have 4 reps, but then you also say to add Young Link, when Legend of Zelda already has 5 reps, and then to add Pichu when you yourself acknowledged that Pokemon would then have 7 reps.
Not saying I am against this, cuz I actually want Pichu and Young Link back, but the reasoning just doesn't make sense. I do want Roy back as well. And adding Roy would make more sense than adding Pichu.
