I cant wait for mewdu
:GCZ::GCU:

Goodnight. I'm sure Mewtwo will give you his blessings during your slumber.

Ugh... I'm going to be working the three days (including) the day Mewtwo's out. Not looking forward to that :/

In anticipation, here's a quick video I made based on the trailer showing his Melee move-sets in comparison, along with a few other clips. :4mewtwo::happysheep::grin:

Oh man, I know how you feel. The week that Mewtwo is released is COINCIDENTALLY the same week I have testing. It's the kind of testing where they test you on everything you learned the whole year. QQ... I'm looking forward to Mewtwo, I really am, but testing... ugh...

@ DrRiceBoy DrRiceBoy - I'm from mid-North Carolina, so it's ~7:30 for me right now. And, yeah, this forum seems to be the most active in the early morning and late afternoon. I can be here during the late afternoon, thankfully, but not during the early morning.
Now, for my opinion on the veterans...

Roy-I like this guy. I always sorta preferred him to Marth in Melee, and he's pretty fun to use. People who say Ike "replaced" him because he has a fiery sword, too, don't know what they're talking about. The two play nothing alike. Assuming Roy returns, however, he would need some buffs. For example, Roy's blade cannot have its sweetspot at the hilt. That's ridiculous. Instead, the devs should come up with some other competitively-viable unique feature for Roy. Also, unless Roy is decloned, I feel like he should return as a bonus character in one of the original fighter's pack. We already have Lucina as a Marth clone, and because of that, I feel like Roy should be created in the post-developmental period of an original fighter and packed in with them, in order to minimize potential complaints and outrages. Overall, though, I would love to see Roy return in Smash 4.

Young Link-I'm torn on this guy. I feel like Toon Link has essentially replaced him, especially now that Fire Arrows are one of Tink's Customs, but I also really want him to return because he has so much potential, even as a clone. For example, Young Link could have Ice Arrows as his Neutral B instead of Fire Arrows. However, Young Link could also be easily decloned, since his moveset could revolve around the stat-modifying masks in Majora's Mask. All that considered, if Young Link isn't decloned, then he should be created in an original fighter's post-developmental period and packaged in with them, similar to Roy, but if he is decloned, then I'd like to see him return in his own DLC. Either way, it would be nice to see Young Link return, provided he and Tink aren't copy-pastes.

Wolf-Yes! I would absolutely love to see Wolf return. He was a completely original character in Brawl, and now that Lucas is returning, I feel like Wolf is a must. Most of his data could just be ported from Brawl to Smash 4, since he doesn't need a moveset revamp, and I would love to see that happen. However, if Nintendo is feeling up to it, I wouldn't mind seeing Star Fox 64 (3D) Wolf instead of Assault Wolf. I always kind of preferred that particular incarnation.

Squirtle-I'm indifferent to Squirtle. I mean, yes, he's a cool Pokémon, but I just didn't think he was anything particularly special in Brawl. He wasn't that fun to play as, and, as cool as he is, I don't consider him an exceptional Pokémon by any means. However, I feel for his fans, and when I think about how much it hurt to lose Mewtwo, I can't help but sympathize with them. If Squirtle doesn't return, then I'm OK with that, but if he does, then that's great!

Ivysaur-Once again, a fighter that I'm somewhat indifferent towards, though, in this case, I lean slightly towards supporting her for DLC. Of all of the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon, she was the most fun to use. Bullet Seed was an really fun move, and I thought Vine Whip and Razor Leaf were pretty cool, too. However, there are several characters I would place ahead of Ivysaur on my "Want" list, and because of that, I'm still a little indifferent towards her. I feel for her fans in the same way I do with Squirtle, though, and for that reason, in addition to her relativity fun moveset in Brawl, I lean slightly towards supporting her. If she doesn't return, then I'm cool with that, but if she does return, then that's awesome!

Ice Climbers-I would love to see these guys return together, as unlikely as it is. However, I would also completely support Popo returning alone, with Nana in tow as an Alt. While the Ice Climbers would lose what made them truly unique in the process, it's important to remember that no-one has a move set like them, so they would still be completely unique. Assuming Popo does return alone, all he would need would be a spruced up move set, in order to be on par with the rest of the cast, and he's ready to go! All things considered, both of the Ice Climbers returning together would be incredible, but Popo going it solo in this game would be just as awesome!

Pichu-All of my yes! Of all of the Melee veterans, this is the one that I support the most. He has a gimmick like nobody else in Smash, even to this day, and, while it was poorly executed in Melee, Pichu could easily be revamped in order to be competitively viable, even with his masochistic gimmick. He could be Smash's ultimate glass cannon: Extremely powerful, but extremely easy to take out. Because Pichu is a clone, I feel like he could easily be created in the post-developmental period of an original fighter and possibly packaged in with them as a bonus character. In conclusion, I feel like Pichu would be a relatively easy fighter to create, seeing as he's a clone of Pikachu, and his gimmick was tons of fun and could easily be balanced. I would absolutely love to see Pichu return!

So there you go. Phew, that took forever to type out, especially since I was on my phone!

If we're giving opinions on vets that haven't returned yet then:

:roymelee: - I absolutely hate this guy. Not only is he one of the blandest characters in Fire Emblem history he is also one of the worst stat wise due to his really late promotion in Binding Blade. Eirika and Ephraim at least had the benefit of a world map to make up for their somewhat late promotions as well as being colourful characters. In Smash he was a clone of Marth and we already have one. If I wanted to see another Fire Emblem character then the aforementioned twins, Tiki, Zelgius and Hector are much higher up.

:younglinkmelee: - Another clone. A younger version of Link. Yeah I don't see him coming back unless transformations return to make use of his masks from Majora's Mask unless they take his Hyrule Warriors moves and have the Fierce Deity as his Final Smash (Thanks 3DS version for limiting SSB4's potential).

:icsmelee: - I want them back. **** the 3ds version and the hardware limitations and roster parity. They were completely unique in being Ice based fighters (Rundas cryos every time) and having a proper AI partner.

:wolf: - We have Lucas returning. Why not Wolf? His Brawl moveset was perfect though I'd rather he used a Wolfen instead of another Landmaster.

:squirtle: - At this point six Pokemon is enough (for the party), we have 4 Gen 1 Pokemon already and there's a water starter (Greninja). He was fun to play but I don't see him happening.

:ivysaur: - Whilst a grass starter would be nice what applied to Squirtle applies here (sans the water stuff). I'd rather Sceptile (or the Gen VII Grass starter if it looks the part) be the Grass type starter to complete the trinity but that's for Smash 5.

:pichumelee: - Nein. This is how not to do a clone. It damaged itself and was easily one of the worst fighters in Melee. Plus we have Pikachu. Why bother with it's baby pre-evolution? Also the too many Pokemon thing applies again for SSB4 plus my opinion on Ivysaur.

:snake: - I want him to return. I loved him in Brawl with his codecs and his moveset. Easily one of my best fighters in game. I want to see him pilot REX for his Final Smash but given the **** that went down at Konami between them and Kojima I don't see him returning given Kojima played a major part in Snake's character.

The only sounds I heard were Melee sound clips.

I never played with the melee vets but eh
:linkmelee:: If Majora Mask gives him a revamped moveset I wouldn't mind a return
:pichumelee:: Should stay dead unless they declone and buff. As in, HEAVILY buff
:roymelee:: I'd have probably mained him but unless Roy returns in FE being much more likeable and decloning, newp
:popo:: Hate them! But miss them, especially with chaingrabs removed
:ivysaur:: My favourite Kanto starter line Q.Q
:snake:: Konami should do something for Nintendo before Snake returns like MGS collection as a Wii U exclusive, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain included
:squirtle:: I was actually decent with this guy, I'd like a return
:wolf:: Should not have been cut and there is no way this guy isn't already being worked on

Yep. He was totally quiet, even when he used moves that had voice clips associated with them in Melee, like Confusion and Disable. My personal theory is that Sakurai is deliberately keeping us in the dark about Mewtwo's voice in order to hold our interest for as long as possible. I also theorize that Sakurai may be waiting to reveal something special about Mewtwo's voice, such as a voice swap option or something. However, I guess it's also possible that he hasn't decided on Mewtwo's voice just yet, and that's why he's holding out on us. Only time will tell...

I don't think that's possible. Melee's voice clips are really outdated and too low quality to be used on the Wii U. That's part of the reason Mewtwo wasn't in the base game: They couldn't port anything from Melee, so they basically had to make Mewtwo from scratch.

It's more they recreated the Melee clips than straight up ported them.

I have a question, who do you lot want to see become newcomers? 5 characters I'd like
Bandana Dee: To represent the modern Kirby games, that nifty spear is also unique
Ridley: Best villain IMO and Metroid best franchise, Sakurai's excuse was poor. "I want to be accurate" Then you don't make him help out or say small wings are a problem
K.Rool one of Nintendo's greater villains, DK is easily the worst represented franchise, not even an AT...He's also good stupidly fun potential
Isaac: Loved Golden Sun and think this guy should definitely represent the franchise in Smash
Takamaru: "not popular enough" RETRO REPS DON'T HAVE TO BE POPULAR! This guy has a sword, invisibility, projectiles, is a Samurai, what's not to like?

Say, where do you guys live, what's your timezone, and what time is it currently for you? Also, what time (in your timezone of course) are you most active in this thread? I'm a bit curious because I want to know when this thread is the most active. I noticed that when I'm asleep or at school the thread is at its peak of activeness, which is a shame haha. If you don't wanna share that info with me or others, just ignore this post.

To start it off, I live in California which is PST. It's currently 9:16 PM for me.
I'm from Ohio (EST), where the weather matches the sport teams.
Unpredictable and easy to let you down...

My favorite out of all of those is Bandana Dee. He was so cool! and can have a relatively original move set! We haven't had a new Kirby rep in a while and I say yes!!
Hopefully Sakurai isn't accused of favoritism

Sakurai hates modern Kirby, the new Kirby things prove that

You heartless monsters....
I'd welcome the bugger with open arms if he got buffed and revamped

Ridley: Size doesn't matter. Accuracy doesn't matter with Falcondorf jogging around like an old man. The only other Purple Dragon is dead at Activision and is more associated with Sony. Plus his ties with Samus.

K Rool: Obese, singing, dancing, boxing, pirate, scientist, barrel racing, baseball playing, krazy king of the Kremlings.

Fawful: More of a pipe dream until we get Toad and Paper Mario but he's one of the most recurring characters in the M&L series (discounting Major Mario characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser etc.) and let's be honest. His food metaphors are amazing (unless you're a Drax).

Wonder Red: You're all aware of how much I love W101 (Second favourite game of 2013 behind... Fire Emblem). He's perfect for Smash with the variety of Unite Morphs he can use from Hands, Gravestones and Spike balls. Plus Vorkkie alts.

Shrek: Shrek is love Shrek is life

Hades: His trollish attitude and mutitude of abilities are perfect for Smash. Plus he could have his Raptor/Hercules form as an alt costume.

Eh, fair point. At least none of his 18 characters are like Kirby-64 and Meta Knight-Brawl levels
18?

False, FE Awakening is such a masterpiece limiting it to one year should be illegal, it's the best game of the 2010+

Wonder-Red: This guy comes from an outstanding game, and he has tons of move set potential. Popularity aside, there's no reason not to include him. Also, popularity doesn't always play a role in selecting the roster. If popularity mattered, Mr. Game & Watch, Pit, Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, and all of the Fire Emblem characters probably wouldn't be on the roster today.

Elline: From Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. Once again, she has tons of move set potential, and she comes from a very unique, popular game. Her playstyle could involve putting extreme pressure on her opponents with Rainbow Ropes and Clay Torpedoes, but she would have poor defenses and a predictable recovery in order to compensate.

Ridley: Too big my butt. Metroid needs a rep other than Samus, and Ridley perfectly fits that role. He's the series's main antagonist, and he has overwhelming popularity in the community. If it really comes down to the wire with the whole size thing, just make Ridley appear in his NES incarnation, where he was just barely taller than Samus. Then, make his Final Smash Super Ridley, or something of that nature, where he turns into the giant Ridley in today's Metroid games. Problem solved.

Waluigi: This guy's playable debut in Smash is long overdue. He's in almost every single Mario spinoff, and he's the only one of the four cousins not to be playable. Waluigi could have an extremely fun and quirky move set, given his wacky powers and abilities, and a few could even be based off of the Mario sports games, where he frequently makes appearances.

Inkling: A character with massive move set potential from an upcoming game that looks to be one of this year's biggest! She could focus on stage control, using ink to cover the stage in a slippery mess that opponents trip on, or maybe she could even swim through it in squid form! There's dozens of directions you could go with her move set, and that's part of the reason she would be an ideal addition the roster.

"Story is all that matters in a game! Except our meh ending"
It's just another Zombie/Infected apocalypse game.
Nothing special.

Super Metroid box-art Ridley would work better. NES Ridley was hardware limitations.

WALUIGI TIME IS LONG OVERDUE!

Inklings and anything to do with Splatoon. Ugh. It lost me the moment they said "Perks on Cosmetics"

-Dawn of the Fourth Day-
Ten days remain...

I would like Roy back only if he's totally revamped and looks like the Kakusei rendition made for Awakening. But I would sooner have Isaac, as I've said before.
Heck, I'd rather have Sora or Cloud before Roy.

I'm really neutral on Ridley being playable. I'd much rather have another bounty hunter from the series.

Content with the Pokemon we've got now that Mewtwo's almost here.

I would LOVE to see Wonder Red made playable.

In terms of Metroid reps I feel it should be Ridley, Dark Samus, Sylux and maybe Anthony Higgs if you want to screw about in that order
Anthony (and by extent Adam) should never be in. Ridley, Dark Samus, Sylux and any of the other Hunters are fine but Galactic Feds can die in a hole.

Anthony was alright though you should never try insulting a 5.60 meter dragon. Oh wait, THAT'S why isn't in this game at all!
Screw the person who thought Adam deserved a trophy

I wouldn't mind seeing one of the other hunters, but I don't think they have a big enough representation to stand a chance of making it in, unfortunately. Definitely won't complain if they do, though!

The only one with a decent chance of returning is Sylux due to speculation on the mystery ship in Prime 3 looking like the Delano.

I think we should introduce 5 more Mewtwos.

Honestly though, I only really wanted Mewtwo, and any other newcomers are simply a bonus.

I dunno. I mean, Adam did have to authorize this game. Don't you think that earns him at least some representation?
"I'm going to shoot you in the back leaving you 275077611% vunerable to a stupidly threatening enemy you were going to kill to warn you it might be immune to it's only weakness and kill it with said weakness and whine about how I wanted to fight the parent eating space dragon"
