So..

I play Marth, but not as a main. I plan on getting better with him, but the only thing holding me back is spacing.

I understand the term, but I don't understand how to use it in play. Don't look down at me though, I'm pretty good in my opinion, but just not with Marth.

What are the moves that can help with spacing most of the time? F-Air, N-Air and U-Air? Me and BengalsrZ played a few mirrors, and he pretty much ***** me. His spacing is pretty good, but I couldn't seem to put that into my playstyle.

Any advice, comments, suggestions or videos to help? ;D

Stop playing on Wi-Fi.

There...problem is almost solved. ^^
^This AND....

Training mode. Start with practicing on a level 3 computer standing still. Learn the distances. Be able get the appropriate spacing while walking, then running toward the opponent. Then learn to do it with short hops, etc.

Then have set the computer on walk and repeat.

Then set the computer on attack(LEVEL 3). Repeat.

Then actually get a friend and do it. Wala, spacing. Of course, that's just for the basics since it's not something you can just "master" like that. You just need to practice and play around with it in matches.

Anyways, good luck.

Leebui, lulz. Good for matchups <_<.

And I'll try that. But for walking and running, practice spacing with the smashes, or aerials? Yeah, I'm kinda on the stupid side most of the time..

Thanks for the advice btw.

Lol, hey Kuro whats up.

Umm, it really is hard to judge how good a Marth is on Wi-fi because of how dependant he is on perfect spacing. From what I saw, here are some tips:

-Dolphin Slash more, it works amazingly
-Use more ftilt and dtilt, both are quick and have great range
-Play a bit more defensive, you use retreating fairs which is good, but I didn't see much shielding, UpB, shield grabs, etc.

You're marth reminds me of mine though, just needs some polishing. Great job so far, just keep working at it

Haha, thanks Bengals.

I usually have opening for DS, but I never think of using it at that moment ;[. And I could barely do any of the rest with lag when we were playing lol. I couldn't get a quick response when I did it. Buutttonn lagg.

But thanks lol. ;D

I use marth and a secondary and I've been working on my spacing too. I just have one question. Is spacing similar to getting tippers? (I think) I know spacing is keeping your distance to be able to attack your opponent, but not be punished if you miss, or something to that sort. I've been practicing spacing on a computer (only moving target I have), and I've been getting a lot of tippers lately. Is there any correspondance between spacing and tippers (for Marth, of course)?

Spacing with Marth is dependant on which characters you're vsing.

Marth is as such a character that has good range, and generally his spacing is about being at his sword's tip range.

That rule applies to most of his match ups. Except those with more range.

You get tippers through the use of good spacing. Like you said the trick is to get your self into a good position while getting them into one where they are at a akward position and can't attack effectiveley.

Well not everyone tips, but everyone has to space. It's just convenient for us that his safest range also happens to be tipper range.

Yay! I love how the game slightly pauses whenever you tipper a fsmash.

Yeah, spacing = #1, im sure you know that by now, I could bet there are people who calculate exact distance to only tipper F smash, but I find it convinient when it happens, for instance, with Nair.

with time, you'll see the attacks to determine what you need to keep your spacing. Experience (and I agree with Junk, level 9 metaknights don't hurt) will be great for you

Stop worrying about what moves can space you and start learning how to walk into perfect distance. Also fox troting into f-smashes are great also.
