I like the daytime stages in Sonic Unleashed, those were fun. Kind of wish I still had that game so I could just play the first stage.

I do remember playing Sonic 3 like...years ago at your house @ Camalange Camalange good times

EDIT: I still have Sonic Heroes

That's because the first sonic Riders was amazing.
I didn't beat Sonic 3 until I was in middle school because of that barrel. :applejack:
So much fun.

And ugh dude I thought I had to jump on it a certain way so I spent hours jumping and getting so close but then TAILS would like GLITCH THROUGH somehow and I'd get SO SAD AND MAD just like WHY CAN TAILS GET TO THE NEXT PART AND I'M STILL STUCK UP HERE and it was pretty emotional.

Dude, that's why I bought it again and got my roommate to replay it. It's gonna be great just being able to pick the daytime stages.

Good times indeed.

I forget if you were there, but there was one time where I had a huge craving to play it and like just sat in the corner of someone's house playing it on a tiny ass CRT they had and beat it in like 2 hours. What a night.

I never played Sonic Riders. I'd get it if I find a copy in the local vintage game shop, but I have a lot of college business to be doing, so I'm gonna wait until sometime in early May when the semester is over.

Also, does anyone else listen to Sonic music in their car while driving? I burned a CD about a year ago with some of my favorite vocal tracks from Sonic games, but I also have transformers music on the CD. Here's the Sonic tracks I listen to in my car.

Open Your Heart
Knight of the Wind
What I'm Made Of
With Me
Live Life

I did.

Mine still works like a charm. First time I played Rocket Knight Adventures was on the actual console since I found a cartridge of it at a retro game store in town. :applejack:

My Genesis still works. Best way to play… Although I grew up with it on PC.

I have two copies of S3 in case of emergency, but only 1 &K top loader. Need to fix that.

I still need to play Rocket Knight.

There's some videos of people turning on the game at 13+ stacks. The levels to which the game gets fubar'd is hilarious. :applejack:

I saw that video.

I was actually most surprised by how many it took for it to finally start acting up. Was surprisingly stable with so many of them. The technology is real.

Can't find any gameplay videos of lots of cartridges stacked. Watched Carnival night act 1 boss done on hydrocity though. Kinda blew my mind.

I had S&K collection on PC, but I grew up on the Genesis games. The PC one annoyed me because the midi instruments were god awful and sometimes sounded completely different based on what computer you were playing on. Even as a kid I could notice the radness of the YM2612 had no substitute...

I played all the genesis games on emulators and tried to use save states as little as possible (at the start of a level and right before a boss only).

The best Sonic songs are Open Your Heart, Live and learn, and What I'm Made Of. All three versions of His World and come close.

I enjoyed Sonic Battle for GBA.

And Cam was gracious enough to give me his extra Sonic Advance. What a swell guy.

I sometimes wish sonic had his axe kick from PM. Just because i'd love the feeling on spin charge into fair spikes and being able to hard punish airdodges with a meteor smash like falcon can do.

Anyone still got their megadrive/genesis that's in working order?
I have 2 (gen 2 and gen 3) genesis consoles that are in working order. Also a Nomad that's..... in working order, but the screen is internally damaged somehow, probably from overusage, where there's this big splotch of orange pixels over the screen. :(

Carnival Night is fine EXCEPT for that one part that you have to hold up and down to move the stupid thing that the game never teaches you I got stuck there for SO LONG as a kid. Literally my only gameplay complaint.
Did you have to remind me of that? That's probably one of the most scaring moments of my childhood playing videogames. I almost gave up on that game because of that part.

Carnival Night was the worst. When I played the game again a few years ago, I forgot how the barrel worked, and I time over'd trying to figure it out. In desperation, I started mashing buttons on my next life...then I pressed up.

"Wait...I JUST HAD TO PRESS UP AND DOWN?! MOTHER--"

I was mad.

Anyone play any of the strike games? There was so many good megadrive games.
I played a lot of Jungle Strike as a kid; I was terrible at it, and all I did was fly around and randomly grab things without knowing what I was doing. I died a lot, haha.

I've been meaning to get back to the series now that I'm older, though.

Jungle strike is probably the best one out of the three. Its so fun blowing up stuff even when youre not meant to. The first level is testament enough to that. RETURN TO BASE. What why? "Why did you blow up the CIA?" Cos I thought it was shooting at me...

I'm restricted to compilations of genesis games now, my megadrive still works but the sound went on it not too long ago. Not sure I could face playing something like sonic without any music, or any game from that era really. Except maybe BALLZ 3D. That soundtrack has given me a 20 year headache.

Has anybody ever collected all the super rare cards in sonic battle w/out using cheats? Felt like that game's endgame challenge was truly impossible (the one where you have to fight 3 other random characters, each round how many lives they have go up while you have one. Once you get to round 7/8, they get their 1HKO from you hitting them so much and things become hell as you try to avoid 3 peoples 1HKOs for 20+ lives lmao)

Some levels in the games were really challenging too, geez they do need to remake that gamegame.

Was lots of fun though, first sonic game to make me tear up as a kid, and is the reason why I love shadow-his animations in that game are amazing!

Desert Strike fan here (and it was the only Strike game I had at the time when I 1st played it), I was pretty decent when I played it on the Genesis like 12 years ago, made it all the way to the 2nd-to-last-level and was on mission 8 (the 1 where you had to escort a bus filled with refugees, incluiding your own co-pilot who's the driver of said bus), sad part is that by the time I got to that mission I was on my last life and ran out of fuel trying to fight off a bunch of enemy copters and used up all the fuel drums I could find on the level, because of a bad habit of me grabbing them when I'm halfway on fuel (and the worst part of all is that I crashed onto the bus and epically died with a mission failure on top), haven't gotten to that level since then, only made it up to like the 2nd level a few times.

Also played the 1st 2 Sonic games (which I was surprisingly decent at as well, most notably on Sonic 2, my worst moment was I kept drowning on Chemical Plant Zone and kept crashing into Tails too many times on the same level), I also played Side Pocket (I was a god at trick shots, once I figured out how to do them and this was well before I used the internet), and at last but not least I also played Battletank (just like Desert Strike, I got all the way up to the 2nd-to-last level, except I found out I had to go right through a minefield (O_o) in order to beat the level's boss and kinda gave up (rather than risk suiciding trying to plow through it), found out years later that level 10 (the last level of the game) also had you plow through a minefield.

Ah, you see I was always very thrifty in that game. My fuel gauge would make that horrible sound (~16%?) and I'd just be like nah I'm fine I'll just finish this objective. I used to die a lot from that lol. Especially in those levels you forgot that it doesn't tell you where the fuel is and there's just those ?s all over the map and it just breaks your heart.

Playing super hang on on my ds ATM. **** that game has some awesome music. Well like all 4 tracks hah. All I've done is listen to retro music for days now. Best. Week. Ever.

:yeahboi:

Also does anyone know any good early sonic music remixes? Most I've heard are...meh.

I did. Was pretty easy. The AI is stupid.

I'D FORGOTTEN ABOUT BALLZ 3D (Well, no; I wish I'd forgotten about Ballz 3D). The intro music has been stuck in my head since I first played the game as a kid, and it hasn't left.

but I think I have...3 genesises? All of them are type-2, and one's connected to a Sega CD that only works when it feels like it (sometimes it will just randomly freeze, which pisses me off when I'm playing Lunar or Jurassic Park or something). I only have one set of cords, though, so the other two are just kind of lying around useless.

Yea, the moment that sound hits, gotta find fuel fast (oh god ran out of fuel on last life), still nothing beats my epic fail of running out of fuel on my final life and crashing onto the bus I'm supposed to escort to safety (if only I recorded that moment).

I also played Road Rash alot with my bro, that was probably one of the games I was really good at (I'm pretty decent at certain racing games), favorite moment is when I hit the nitro on some bikes and beating the snot out of the cops (also those darn bears on the side of the road).

I'm going to be honest... Not sure what model my Genesis is and I don't have it with me rn. How do I determine it?

Yeah, I totally agree. I never really about it, but yeah, Sonic Advance is totally the Sonic 4... Sonic 4 just seemed like such a disgrace to the original namesake. They even had audacity to break it into episodes.

Ugh.
Did you have to remind me of that? That's probably one of the most scaring moments of my childhood playing videogames. I almost gave up on that game because of that part.

I'm so glad that this was a universally shared curse.

welcome home my brothers and sisters

Thank GOD Sonic 3 let you save and you could retry the level again. Who knows if I would've ever figured it out if I had to start from the very beginning.
