I think nowadays a lot of the Tingle hate has died down. They even put him in Hyrule Warriors.
He was requested by the Japanese, and his reveal was hated by the West until it was shown that Skull Kid still got in.

Are we talking about Hero or Tingle /s.
It can be a lot of characters unless they are a cool action hero or a cartoony animal.

They said damn?

In a Zelda game?

I haven’t played this part of BOTW in almost two years this is incredible

Why are they changing so much about the Mulan remake?

Sure they changed things in the other remakes, but for the most part they’re almost exact retellings. What makes Mulan different?

Tl;dr Don't play Minecraft Survival on servers.

In America, yes, but on the milder terms of things. Like, you don't want to say it in front of your parents, with people who are uptight abiut clean mouths, or around little children, but you can say it anywhere else and nobody would really care.

Let's be real tho, at least the new Mulan's gonna be a pretty different experience compared to the original one

if they made it exactly the original but just in live action, there'd definitely be some complaints

Heck, that's like one of the main reasons I have no anticipation for the new Lion King whatsoever

It's looking to be the same film from 1994 but with just updated visuals and a new voice talent and such.

It is a bad word, but not the worst of bad words.

Don’t say it in front of your mom, nobody else will care.

Changing times? Not all of the original movie's themes aged greatly.

You'll basically never see damn in a show or game aimed at kids, like, I'm talking under-10 demographic.

In most forms of media in America, yes. They're pretty strict with what words you can say.

Pretty sure most kid-friendly networks won't even let you say "crap".

Hey y'all just briefly stopping by. Just came back from the border with my dad. Had lot of fun. Gonna be taking my dog to the creek in 20 minutes or so. Dad on the other hand is doing one-on-one with his dog. We need to start teaching and disciplining her to behave and such.

So far, so good. I've been stern with her and dad's seen a difference so should work out in the end. :)

It's not kid friendly but it's down there with hell as being pretty mild compared to other swear words.

My mom, who’s kinda uptight and doesn’t swear at all, says damn it all the time. Even in front of me when I was like, 4.

So yeah, not that bad.

"Dang" or "darn" are usually used in place of "damn" in family-friendly media, but yeah it's not one of the worst words unless you say it against someone.

Here's the trailer version for the Nitro Tour Grand Prix

I swear, the amount of love that is being put in this game is fantastic. I really liked that when it was first reveled it looked like a remake of just a single game but as time went on it start evolving into something so much, MUCH more!

Holy **** you guys, get Bloodstained. I just beat the game with 100 percent map completion. I don't have much, if anything to complain about. And thos credits theme is so soothing, feels like the ultimate reward for 40 bucks. While I have the Switch version which can be pretty bad at times, I absolutely love it. ****, I think I found the undeniable GOTY for me.

All in all, if you have 40 bucks, go buy this masterpiece. I think it's 35 on Steam now too

I think Regular Show used "crap" once and it was seen as a huge shock.
The first like five episodes had mild swearing like the line:

“How the h are we suppose to fix this s?”

Or:

“Don’t look at our crotches as we synchronize our watches”

Then cartoon network edited them out and all re runs didn’t use any of those words. Which sucks as it made the show a lot funnier. It’s still one of the best shows on Cartoon Network imo.

Regarding swearing, I never understood the taboo of words like hell in english.

(It also confuses the hell out of me that Mr Satan got his name changed in the US version to Hercule)

Cartoon Network didn't give a crap in the early 2010s. Adventure Time and Regular Show used crap on the daily basis, and Regular Show said worse even til the very end. Adventure time also had an obsession with the word "Sexy"

Wonder what made them re-edit those scenes.

My mom would chastise me for swearing (still does despite being a grown man) while cursing up a storm pretty often.

Probably just because of the Biblical connotations, at least in America. I'm not sure what the views on them are in other primarily English-speaking countries.

Japan would love Tingle, though. He basically has a sort of cult following across, and multiple spin-offs just off of his popularity. Even game developers like Kensuke Tanabe wanted to make another Tingle game, but was conflicted with how the West mostly saw him. Almost anything weird here is normal there.

Not everybody outside of there completely understands. Distaste from fans was the reason why he got excluded from Twilight Princess, although no articles remain to say so. IGN even led a laughably ridiculous campaign to end him a long time ago.

Eh, he's not a favorite of mine, but I just wanted to say he definitely has his audience.

You mean anything by Pendleton Ward. I remember Bravest Warriors.

Religious stuff was very touchy back then. I think nowadays if you aired DBZ in a kid's slot you might get away with Satan, but I can't say for sure.

The name Hercule was taken from the French dub, which took some... liberties, shall we say.

I live when people say that shows that aired in the 90s wouldn't air today due to complaunts.

Nah, if anything, they would be considered normal by todays standards.

I mean, the Simpsons was considered highly offensive in the 90s, and now it's just... normal now.

I think shows have gotten more open regarding talking about naughty words or sexual innuendos or whatnot, but I feel like things have taken a step back from darker/scarier media. Like, Batman Beyond was a Saturday morning cartoon... and that show was horrifying.

To be fair that aired at like 8PM meaning the young kiddies were already in bed. Justice League Unlimited was the same deal iirc but at 9PM

He 100% has an audience but I'd say it's outnumbered by the amount of people that dislike him.

Hero for example was a character the west didn't care about but Japan loved. Even that got some minor complaints.

Imagine putting in a character that the west (Including NA and EU in this) actively disliked but Japan loved. Wouldn't go over well at all.

I like Tingle as a character but for Smash there's so many better options.

Batman Beyond aired on Saturday mornings like I said. I know 'cause I watched it. Justice League got away with a bit more because of the night slot.

I would assune that the reason why shows are backing away from darker tones is that they currently carry a negative connotation. I mean, companies tried WAY too hard to nake everything darker and edgy, and 1up each other with edgyness that people just had enough of it because it became too much to the point where it wasn't enjoyable. Sonic, Loony Tunes, and the more (can't think of other examples) fell into that trap.

Granted, story driven cartoons are making a comeback, but they're more lighthearted if anything.
