Japan would love Tingle, though. He basically has a sort of cult following across, and multiple spin-offs just off of his popularity. Even game developers like Kensuke Tanabe wanted to make another Tingle game, but was conflicted with how the West mostly saw him. Almost anything weird here is normal there.
Not everybody outside of there completely understands. Distaste from fans was the reason why he got excluded from Twilight Princess, although no articles remain to say so.
IGN even led a laughably ridiculous campaign to end him a long time ago.
Eh, he's not a favorite of mine, but I just wanted to say he definitely has his audience.
