What 2000s Nintendo characters would you add at this point? Brawl and Smash 4 ran that well pretty dry with Ike, Lucario, Villager, Bowser Jr., Rosalina, Wii Fit Trainer, etc. as well as the classic characters who were notable during that era like Wario, Little Mac, and so on.

I feel like we've already gotten all of the best options at this point. There might be one or two characters left who'd make sense, but anyone else would feel forced.

I'd actually prefer we get more characters from this decade. Feels like FE and Pokemon make up a majority of what we have.

There's nothing wrong with not feeling it for the newcomers. I mean, in Smash 4, at least 2/3s of the pre-DLC newcomers were "I sleep". Mac was, Robin was, Lucina was, Dark Pit was, Palutena was obvious, Rosa was obvious, I had no clue on Greninja since I didn't play X&Y (and I was more upset that Charizard was standalone), they fumbled the bag with advertising the Miis (Though Reggie vs. Iwata is by far the best trailer), Shulk got leaked in the most unhypest was possible, Wii Fit was cool, Mega Man and Pac were cool, but they REALLY fumbled with Pac, Jr. and Duck Hunt were cool too, and Villy was the best out of the bunch.

And not gonna lie, I VASTLY prefer pulling newcomers from the 2000s and 2010s over reps from the 80s or 90s, unless they got cultural significance. Maybe that's a product of me being born in the 21st century, but yeah.

Dixie Kong and Bandana Dee (technically debuted in Super Star) are the big ones. Toad if you're still carrying that flame. Classic Ganon, Kamek... probably forgetting some others.

The big difference is that Banjo had a massive following. I'm not sure if there's anyone from the 2000's left who Sakurai would be willing add at this point.

Midna and Tom Nook are probably the most-likely additions at this point, if that tells you anything.

I second this, over half of the roster already originates from the 20th century.

For a good reason mind you, but doesn't help when older fans flaunt their support groups' ages and call every new character "shill picks".

At this point I'd take any new Zelda character, but IMO the main thing against most of them is that unless they're a legacy character like Tingle, Impa, Beedle or any of the main trio, they only show up for 1 or 2 games and are never seen or referenced again.
