One of my sisters bought me Cuphead for my birthday.

That game has been on my radar for a long while now so it's good to finally be able to play it. I'm having fun with it so far.

It's also good to have another distraction from the Pokemon fandom.
But why would you ever want to get away from such a calm, accepting fandom?

I'm especially excited for the SNES games because while I never owned an SNES (only one I played was the one at my grandma's house... we don't really visit her anymore after she started going loony), I do know a lot of awesome **** is in the SNES library (some of them I only experienced via the GBA remakes)
Eh. Not too excited. I don’t really play games older than the N54/PS1 Era. 8/16-bit gaming just.... I don’t know, I don’t have fun with them.

Side note, do you ever completely burn yourself out during the day and get so exhausted, only to be wide awake and not tired at all when you finally get to bed.

Sad and depressing music is playing in my head and I feel like I want to cry and I don’t know why.

I want a chance to play Kirby's Air Ride so badly...

Some more N64 titles would be cool again, too.

Also Yoshi's Island (the original; been wanting to play that one for a very long time, now, and I never did get it on the Wii U. Would kind of prefer to play it on the Switch anyway).

Even if it’s just snes games (which would suck) gimme DKC2.

But please, N64 games! Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, the original Smash Bros!

Oh yeah, I missed out on the N64 era almost entirely so Banjo Kazooie and Tooie would also be most welcome.

All I've played is Nuts and Bolts so gimme a chance to play the original golden quality platformers, please.

Nintendo are "considering" adding SNES games??

Remember when we were excited for the inevitability of N64 and maybe GCN games on Switch? Aaaah...good old naive, blissful times...

This online service may be cheap, but it has so little value...

Play the 360 versions PLEASE! There are so many quality of life tweaks that just make the games better.

I remember when I was convinced that the Wii U was going to get Gamecube games...

Wii U's virtual console was a sort of side step to the greatness of the Wii's, and they just absolutely tripped down the stairs on the Switch's lame excuse for an online service. At least we got Tetris 99 out of the ordeal, it's the only thing that makes the service redeemable at all.

If they do add SNES games, I hope they have the DKC trilogy.

I have it on Wii U VC but my Wii U is sure to die in the next couple months...

The Wii U may have it’s faults, but the virtual console is one of the few things that is leagues better than what’s on switch.

NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBA, and even DS games were all on that thing by the end of it’s lifecycle.

Nintendo a couple years later went...

Let your boy know if they make PoR not cost an arm and a leg to get legitimately.

If they do SNES games, I got a feeling MMX1-MMX3 and MM7 won't be available(much like NES Mega Man games, due to the recent collections that are available on Switch). And I already own Super Metroid and Demon's Crest digitally. So that'll dampen my mood for some of the SNES games. Let's get this bread for Mega Man Soccer though I guess.

EDIT: That said, I don't own any copies of Mario 64, so if that pops up, I'll cop it.

Yeah, SNES has some of my favorite games of all time. So it'd be nice, but the Switch's online offerings so far have been kind of mid. Granted, it'd be kind of hard to make it pop out more when many companies are taking it among themselves to re-sell their games both digitally and physically. But it'll feel weird to NES/SNES streaming service without Mega Man, Castlevania and Contra. It'd be one thing if it was obscure weirdo series, but those 3 franchises helped define their systems.

Wii-U's Library isn't as huge as the Wii's Online stuff, but it did eventually include GBA and DS titles. And when exactly can we expect N64 and Gamecube era stuff, if at all? Even if they just got released like the typical E-Shop titles instead of streaming, I'd be alright with that if only because so many of those titles are hard to come by and players need better access to them without resorting to other means.
Of course, that's without getting to Sega consoles, Arcades, Turbo Grafix 16 etc.

Virtual Console wasn't that great either. Slow releases and a lot of needless repeats from the Wii era + no account/cloud system to transfer and store your VC games.

Coupled with the lack of noteworthy first-party digital sales and very poor internal storage for the Switch, then it is clear Nintendo either lacks an understanding of digital shopping or don't care about it to modernize themselves.

I much prefer the subscription model to Virtual Console, because with the latter, I would only get games that I really liked (e.g., the original Mario games, Mario 64). With the subscription model, I've been playing games I would have otherwise not bought, because it wasn't worth buying to me. Still, I'm not a huge fan of the NES/SNES library outside of the big titles, and am really only waiting for the possibility of N64 titles, since that was the first console that was truly mine.

The frustrating aspect of the subscription model, though, is it's taken far longer than it should to expand the consoles in the classic library, compared to VC. I think they're waiting until people need to re-subscribe to add SNES titles, but for me that's too little too late, and will probably let my subscription lapse until N64 titles are released, which at the earliest would probably be next year. I got it because I thought I had enough friends to play online with, but turned out they either didn't have the subscription or the same games as me, so I've barely played online as it is. If SNES came earlier and we had some indication more beyond that would be released, I would have probably stuck with it, but as it is now, there's no point in me keeping the subscription. :p

The story mode in Mario Maker 2 is really good. Because it's designed to showcase what you can make (well mostly, some levels have win conditions you can't include in your levels), each level has something new to offer and keeps things fresh.

I could live with fewer thid party offerings on it if the library wasn't so slow to grow and had more than just NES games.

It would be pretty nice if at least SNES and N64 games come back. The Switch Online stuff would improve quite alot if they add the option to play SNES and N64 games for free after paying for a Switch Online membership. While Virtual Console did get the stuff out quicker, I really did not like having to pay for the same game twice, especially for the more expensive ones, just to be able to play the games in the handheld mode. It was fine for the games that weren't on the Wii Shop, not so much the ones that already were.
The Switch Online membership deal with having a Netflix-like deal with classic Nintendo titles has alot of potential to be something big. Just by adding SNES and N64 games to the list would be a huge point for some people. To play games like Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Ocarina of Time, at will while getting online just for 19.99 a year would be big for said people.
It has the potential to be very good. The major issues though is that one, Nintendo isn't taking aggressive action with it and two, there's the possibility of having to go through all that again with their next system.

I barely made levels in the first game, and they were all trash.

This time, I’m gonna make the douche-iest levels I can.
I really loved making levels in Mario Maker. There was a part in the trailer where it showed putting blocks over the flagpole and how that's something you can't do (because you need to complete the level). Challenge accepted. :chuckle: So I recreated 1-1, put blocks over the flagpole. In the secret pipe area, I created another secret area where you had to jump above the area and go beyond the pipe in a really punishing platforming section, to the next pipe, which then took you to the clouds above the flagpole in the main area where you had to use bombs to blow the blocks up.

I just loved taking the tools you got in the game and the limitations, and finding workarounds of those limitations, while still trying to make a fun level. Of course, barely anybody ever played my levels so it was mostly just a fun passion project.

I feel like there are so many ways Mario Maker 2 is a step down from 1 (e.g., exclusive items to the first four games and 3D World, lack of costumes/new power-ups, not being able to edit downloaded levels), despite the additions. Still can't wait to get it, though.

Crys is back from Pokémon Crystal! This makes me soo happy! I was afraid she got replaced by Lyra forever after Lyra replaced her in HeartGold/SoulSilver!
I feel like the National Dex thing on social media is people being angry, with no offer of how to fix the problem.

This is similar to quite a few social media outcries.

I am disappointed by it myself, but it’s an unfortunate reality. If Game Freak plunked in the same models, same animations, and what not of all Pokémon, fans would be just as upset that Game Freak did THAT. It’s a lose lose, and fans make it that way.

I hope they update it over time. But i’m not going to harass game developers over something in a $60 game I want to play. There are students I teach whose families can’t afford a single console, let alone eat breakfast once every two days.

There are worse things going on than not having every digital monster in the world. Remember that.
Here's the thing though, that's essentially what GameFreak did..the models they're using really aren't that different from what is used in Pokémon Go & Let's Go, which are just HD versions of the Pokémon in X/Y & Sun/Moon..and they're using the same animations from those games as well.

I mean, I'm not worried, all of my favs (Gardevoir, Raichu, Mew) are pretty popular and will almost certainly be in (100% for the latter two since all 151 originals will be in due to Let's Go), but I can understand people being frustrated that they've always managed to keep up with themselves on including all of the Pokémon they've made only to possibly ditch most of them now..and this has likely started a fear in some that their favs may never return in a new game, especially after GameFreak said they 'aren't sure' if they'll bother patching more in down the line.

I've heard that they are using separate models for the Dynamax Pokémon..which, honestly, is kind of a waste considering they could just enlarge the models they already have to the achieve the same effect.

And yes, there are worse things in life, but that's false equivalence. People are allowed to express their critique or disappointment in a game or game announcement (yes, some are definitely taking it much too far), but remember, this works..it worked with Super Mario Maker 2 after they announced you could only play online with random people. People complained and now we'll have a patch to allow online with friends.
NES games are classics and all but I also feel like they're kind of relics of their time and many haven't really aged all that well.

Even some SNES games added to the library would go a long way to make it that much more interesting. Through in N64, Gamecube and maybe even some Gameboy / GBA games and this service has the potential to turn from something that's just kind of "there" into something really exciting to look forward to each month.
Oh, I agree. NES was great and deserves its place in history..but lets admit, only a handful of NES games are actually gems worth playing..and you can tell they are running out of good NES games to put onto the service..they need to move on to the SNES already.

Since Super Mario Maker 2 is getting released today, I want to post an old Mario hack video that I liked over a decade ago. There used to be a period back then where I was obsessed with downloading Mario hacks and playing them, Kaizo Mario being the notable one of the bunch.

Mark my words, Zelda will get a Zelda Maker, in which you get to create your own dungeons (or shrines) with the expected tools, weapons and enemies as resources. Well, I want it to happen now.

I swear nothing feels better in Smash than sucking up projectiles with weird trajectories and sending it straight back at their faces as DeDeDe. I love DeDeDe’s suck in this game.

I’ve killed soo many Richters by sending their axe back at their face. I just won a game against a Snake who tried to mortar me, Right back at ya’!

Oh, I am..in fact, I'm a big enough fan that I'm the only reason there's an acceptable sized version of this official art of her on the internet.
I literally cut this image out of a scanned version of Nintendo Power's Pokémon Crystal Player's Guide because I remembered it existed, but the only ones online were all the same tiny resolution, poor quality image..so I just had to do it..and now its spread all over the internet just from me uploading it onto Bulbapedia.

So many classic series could be sick with a Maker game. At least Mega Man had Powered Up(and a fan game). But a Sonic/Metroid/Castlevania version could also be interesting.

at first I was like "Who thr hell is Crys" then I realized you meant Kris
I call her Crys, which is what the Japanese call her, its short for Crystal (which they also use in the manga Pokémon Adventures..where she takes Lyra's place and hates her outfit!).
https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Crystal_(Adventures)
I don't want to call her Kris. Usually I just call her Crystal. I never understood why they called her Kris in Crystal when the name 'Crystal' fits in the name entry..I guess its probably a left over from the Japanese version calling her 'Crys' (クリス) since Crystal (クリスタル) was too long for their name entry. Since クリス is pronounced the same as 'Kris', they probably didn't catch the reference to the version name when translating it and thus made it Kris instead of Crystal, which would have matched the other games which had Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, and Silver by having the version also being a name option.
I honestly kinda hope that Pokémon Masters retcons her name back to Crystal.
