If you dislike something and feel the need to say it, at least explain why. Saying “***** abridged dubs.” doesn’t benefit anyone.
Eh, they're Youtube comments. They won't benefit anyone anyway.

On a serious note, after our episode one we did get some constructive criticism from people who'd watched our TIBA entry, and it really helped us learn and get better. I'm grateful that they took the time to analyze what we did poorly and tell us about it. Otherwise I may not have realized they were problems at all and just kept doing them.

Problem is not everyone with a negative opinion wants to share it for the purpose of making things better. Some people just like being ****s.

Secret “confession”: I really hope to get cast for one of Grey’s videos sometime, He and his brother (iirc) seem tk have avery good sense of directing.

AD (first three seasons at least) is like the pinnacle of sitcom writing. I wish I could craft running gags and quick banter like they could.

My brother and I write the show together and we bring opposite approaches. I bring the modern TV sitcom and Adult Swim approach, and he brings the typical Youtube comedy, loud noises, nonsensical approach. I craft the story and focus on plot and character, and he comes in with the absurdist humor to liven things up.

We just wrote a scene together last night where we decided to reuse an animation of one character snapping his fingers and pointing every time he says something. It's something I'd never thought of on my own but after he proposed it we just kept snapping and pointing after everything we said for like fifteen minutes and it was hilarious.
I would give all 3 seasons of classic AD a perfect 10/10. I'm tempted to rewatch those first three seasons just because of how wonderful they are.

Season 4's decent, but I think AD 1-3 was definitely fresher.

S5? Ehhhhhh...I forget what happened in most of that season.

Either way, I love AD anyway. It's cool that you use AD and those shows as inspiration.

When did you start writing said series?

I might be able to pull a decent Sonic voice if they decide to make Sonic X Abridged, ngl.

I’ve been told I sound like Tails and Silver. I’ve also been told I sound like MatPat and an anime protagonist. All compliments in my book. lol

staindgrey staindgrey how do you find Dragon Ball Abridged, btw?

I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about it, and personally enjoyed the episodes I saw.
You mean DBZ Abridged?

It's fantastic. It's honestly the only abridged comedy I've seen that I wholeheartedly enjoy. They understand the characters and what makes them work. They do a stellar job of balancing new content and old to make the experience familiar yet new. Their voice over work is usually spot-on. The way they handle heavier scenes that comedy can't do justice is remarkable. When they ended the Cell arc, it was an event because you feel so invested in these characters that they've made, not just the original characters themselves.

I quote the show all the time. It's really the catalyst for me wanting to get into Youtube in the first place. Their Dead Zone movie, IMO, is still the best single abridged video ever made and everyone wanting to get into the scene should watch it for an example of how to do things right.

KaiserNeko is kind of a prick, though.

I rewatch AD all the time. It has never gotten old.

My brother and I first brainstormed the show back in late 2015 when watching Endless Waltz together. Our entire concept for the show and the major characters' personalities started with that, funny enough. We kind of worked our way backwards to say, "Okay, how do we get this character from where he is now to where we want him to be by Endless Waltz?"

But when TFS held their TIBA contest in June 2016, we actually cast and wrote a script for the first time. We got snubbed-- still don't know why-- and felt kind of turned off by the idea until a year later when we came back and rewrote the episode entirely. So I guess we actually started writing the show as it is right now in spring of 2017?

Honestly, VO is the most fun thing I’ve ever done. It’s great to step into the role of a character and act them out.

I'm glad I got into it.

Originally I said I didn't want to voice anything. I just wanted to direct and animate and not star in our series at all. But no one really tried out for Wufei and we needed someone to do it. So I took the role.

Turns out acting behind a mic is incredibly fun. My favorite part so far has been Commander Bonaparte, because I learned that I actually have a pretty good Southern military commander voice that I didn't know about. Who knew!

Probably one of my favorite roles is a character called Sammy. The writers and artists do an amazing job bringing him tomlife, and he’s adorable.

Ngl, I used to want to be a voice actor in the past.

However, I ended up feeling that my voice is so specific and uncommon that I don’t fit for many roles that already exist outside of maybe a few exceptions like Sonic.

Doesn’t help that I got mocked IRL over my voice, which only made me scared about the idea the more time passed and people kept mocking that and my dream of being a voice actor by claiming my future to only happen at the...
...pornographic industry.

But honestly, I would be all in to voice Sonic if someone wanted to make an abridged series on Sonic X.

there's probably a lot of people out there who feel like they're all just littlekuriboh knockoffs too

What I find interesting is how few people actually use the like/dislike buttons. I've seen videos with 1,000 views that only have 20 likes. Its kind of weird that the feature is so underused.
Yeah, our ep.7 has 70,000 views and 1600 likes. But I guess liking is kind of difficult to do when playing Youtube on your TV. I never think to hit a like button when watching something in my living room.

But yeah. I have a love/hate with Little Kuriboh's stuff. I recognize the historical value of him starting this whole thing, and there are parts of Yugioh Abridged that I love. But overall I feel like his brand of "internet humor" is very low comedy and gets stale fast. The constant 4th wall breaks and reminding the viewer that the plot doesn't make any sense is lazy.

Still, I have to admit that all the "abridged" scene is directly or indirectly inspired by his work. And his Pharaoh voice is never not funny.

My man, if you want to go for voice acting, go ahead and do it. I’ll even link some good resources if you’d like.

Just because you don’t have “good” voice isn’t stopping you from voice acting. It’s a lot more than that. And trust me, you, shouldn’t be worried about your range. If you can act, (which takes time) that’s all you need. Silly voices aren’t needed. It’s called voice ACTING not just voice. lol

Pft, you think I have a good voice? Have you heard Wufei talk?

Try not to feel self-conscious about your natural voice. Everyone has a unique voice.

EDIT: What @Taylor F said.

Hopefully I can do something about voice acting after university.

My dream would be to work both as an english/history teacher and a voice actor, since I have the stuff needed to pull both jobs at once.

Time will tell, but so far I find it possible to make it happen with enough work.

I’m curious, does anybody here play tabletop RPGs?

I mainly play edge of the Empire, the Star Wars rpg, but have also played Call of Cthulhu and even a homebrew SCP tabletop.

I tried D&D, but my group kind of fell apart by the third session. Still want to try it again sometime.

I was part of a Dungeons and Dragons group back in college, and it was a ton of fun. I miss playing with them. I had this lizard-person hero who was a reformed criminal (chaotic good alignment) and known for his intelligence and wide variety of connections.

If it extends to all party members, Sandiego would make a pretty cool name.
You're thinking of the wrong Carmen. Ann's Persona is based off the character from Prosper's novel that famously got adapted into an opera by Bizet
