I spend a lot of time around the Geno thread so I feel like I get that side of things a lot and as a fan of the character who doesn't always see eye to eye with other fans of the character, I'm always curious to see what others are really thinking on the character, especially in the wake of someone like Banjo Kazooie and Hero getting in (hopefully this doesn't strike too much of a cord with anyone or cause too much trouble haha).

I think it could happen one day, but I don’t think he’s that likely unfortunately.

I don't think its ever going to happen. He's really just not a marketable character and I feel that he's not as popular as people think he is.

I'm pretty impressed with how his support has risen again for this game, it was enormous during pre-Brawl, but then it was kinda died down for Smash 4, I remember thinking to myself how crazy it was that a character as obscure as him ever had that much support to begin with, but then here we are again.

His chance has pretty much come and gone for Ultimate, but as always Nintendo will take note of his popularity, which will give him another chance next time. He's like right on the cusp of getting in as he keeps on getting more and more non-playable recognition, and we know Sakurai likes the idea, but he needs just a bit more help to get over the line. Maybe with less competition for the next game, as Ultimate included so many bigshots, they'll feel they can better justify his inclusion, but I think it also depends on how long his fanbase will stick around for, if they keep chucking away at it I think he'll happen eventually, even if it'll take a while.

I think if he didn't get in in the base game, where there's an effort to appeal to fans with the roster to an extent, he's never getting in. He's not really marketable as DLC, Square already has a character, he's never really been hauled out for cameos like Banjo has. He's not happening I don't think, much as that hurts to say.

Although, if you think about it, considering he's a 20 year old character who wasn't even the main character in his debut game and has made one cameo ever since and is stuck in legal hell, isn't the fact that the fans were able to get him a mii costume and his own special segment in the final smash 4 direct pretty amazing on it's own?

You could also say Color Theory has precedence with how the three fighters so far plus Piranha Plant all line up perfectly with their color association. And it seems people forget that Mii Costumes can and likely will be released between Character Reveals so if we get a Costume for Phoenix Wright/Leon Kennedy/Jill Valentine it could easily debunk it.

We could also very well get another new company as apart of the fighters pass which could debunk Mii Costume theory. Sure it has precedence but Color Theory does too. Just cause you get one or two things right doesn't mean the theory is correct and any theory could be debunked even Color or Costume theory.

There’s a difference between the two though. Also, being easily debunked is fine. If it happens, so be it.

Anyway, the colors associated with a character have no bearing on the character itself. Could the other DLC characters get certain colors on the website? Sure. But that doesn’t actually determine who they are, considering we have colors that don’t actually match a character. Samus for example, has navy blue. Ken has a grayish color. Neither of these have any rhyme or reason to it. This insinuates that there really isn’t a connection.

Color theory could be true, as in, the DLC picks could have colors that aren’t similar to the other picks. But it’s ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things if the colors don’t tell us anything about the identity of the character.

For example, a character with a blue color could be Jill Valentine, Crash, Artorias, or a variety of other picks. Or they could be a different color. and the colors are only used for the website, which has no bearing on the game itself.

Then again, there’s always the possibility that both Mii Theory and color theory end up correct at the same time.

I don’t put all that much stock in it myself. Could happen, but I don’t think it will determine the identity of the picks themselves.

If his Mii Costume isn't back he's a hell of a lot more likely and may be in, If his Mii Costume is in and we get additional DLC after the Fighters Pass I wouldn't count him out as he could still make it, If his Costume comes back and there isn't any additional DLC after the Fighters Pass he's dead man. He's dead.

I'm a Geno supporter, I've seen much worse. I mean, I did ask for brutally honest opinions, and he gave me a brutally honest opinion that he seems to genuinely think. If you're going to be a Geno supporter, I think you generally need to have a strong enough stomach for these things, though I know it bothers a lot of his fans more that aren't me. I'd rather see how he appears on here with someone being that brutally honest about the character I'm inquiring about rather than on places like GameFAQs where I'll most certainly get personally insulted for liking the character or worse. SmashBoards is undoubtedly one of the nicer places for Smash fandoms and discussions, or at the very least, the most consistently civil of them (even if things do go off the rails or get overly personal at times).

I'm just not going to ask for a brutally honest take on something and then balk at the response I get. Geno has always been a contentious pick and I like to guage where he stands in the eyes of the greater community from time to time.

The thing with geno is that he's unmarketable to more people than he is marketable to. He appeals almost solely to people who played SMRPG, a game that's pretty old at this point. He also wasn't even the main character of that game, and has been almost non existent outside of that game. The current generation is gonna have very little idea as to who he is. SMRPG wasn't even originally released in Europe. Geno is pretty much only popular in smash circles, and even then he's still a lot more controversial and obscure than the other really popular requests are.

Smash isn't the only way to bring back a videogame character.

If I learnt something as a Crash fan, it is that companies do the stuff that brings the most money to them.

If Square suddenly finds out that working with Mario properties gives them huge chunks of money, they will deliver anything that could give them even more... And that includes stuff like SMRPG or the characters themselves.

I said it once and I'll say it again: never lose hope and keep suppporting the characters you like even outside of Smash. Because that's how Crash, Banjo, K.Rool, Spyro and even Megaman came back to the media.

which is why i believed the waluigi leak was bunk day one

you'd sooner see Fiora or Proto Man (who are currently in final smashes) as playable tbh, cause they're just predetermined animations and Spirits are just png files (plus Fox and Falco disappear from the other's FS if they're on the field so FSes are easily worked around... and then there's Chrom who doesn't give a ****)

ATs have a whole moveset hardcoded to an AI that adapts to certain situations, would be extra work on the programmers' part to make the same character playable and figure out how to handle the AT counterpart
