Actually here I found it:
There was a problem fetching the tweet

This was literally before E3. So yes people involved in smash are straight up lying about( for obvious reasons of course) and we can’t take them at face value. The only one I would honestly trust to deconfrim companies is verge
The problem with points like these is that for every Grant Kirkhope case, there's also a Smash 4!Kojima with Snake, ARMs producer with Springman, or Skye Bennett with Pyra where the person involved was being 100% truthful, but fans dismissed it as a 'well, they could be lying to cover-up, so it doesn't count!'

While a no may not always be truthful, most of the time it's not going to end up being a yes either. It's better to keep what they say in mind and temper expectations accordingly then to blow it off and be disappointed afterwards, especially with a roster that can't possibly add every single wanted character in the community.

Even if they showed Bubsy or Princess Elise with a down special kissing move, no one would boo. They’d laugh, or be silent at the most. But no one’s gonna boo Smash.

Y’know how they say Pokémon is too big to fail? Smash is too hype to boo.

Phoenix Wright is actually fighter five and his trailer has him point out all fan rules are bull ****, and then doubles into the shantae and waluigi reveal trailer
And then a Silhouette of Mega Man X and Fiora do the Default Dance.

I'd want to see how people react to PLOK. Only to hear all those Tim Follin Tracks he'd bring with him.

Ok new page, one more piece of relaxing fan art to share:

This one’s from a Twitter user known as @WataRidley (not sure if I spelled that right). They tend to make really dope Metroid fan art.

I’m just forming conclusions based on the observed patterns. I used to fus over the whole “Sakurai could do literally anything” idea and it just drove me crazy. So, until such time as I am proven wrong, I will continue to make assumptions and conclusions based on the given data points.
Assuming makes and ass out of u and me.

Don’t give me that bull. We HAVE to make assumptions in order to survive as a species. Because no matter how much you know about a subject, you’re always missing some information and don’t know exactly what will happen.
Perhaps assuming things helps us survive as a species.

But this ain’t survival, this is smash speculation.

You can’t not though. The only other alternative is either not making predictions at all or biasing them so you predict what you want to happen. I am painfully aware of how unlikely my most wanteds are. And at this point I don’t scramble trying to influence the data based on what I want to be true. If I did then I would be speculating in a very different way and talking about very different characters. I don’t because the data doesn’t suggest that it will happen.

Ok, well, "Corrin didn't get a stage" isn't enough information to base an educated guess on, Smash 4 was getting stage DLC separate from characters, and Piranha Plant was apparently meant to be in the base game originally. There is no pattern in Smash Ultimate that supports first party character DLC going forward not coming with stages.

"Patterns"... This feels like Brawl speculation all over again.

I just basically feel indifferent with speculation overall.

I got basically all I wanted in a prioritized way, so right now I can just wait and see what’s next to get the whole game’s experience.

I am basically the living incarnation of the “Don’t ask Sakurai anything ever again” meme, because I basically have achieved that status.

Not “first party in general” just characters who’s franchises are already in. Astral Chain, Wonderful 101, any first party ip without a character or stage is fine.

I remember when the "data" said we wouldn't get Banjo & Kazooie or any other Western characters, and lo' and behold, Sakurai beats that fan rule into the ground while even saying Banjo & Kazooie were easy to get and maybe this will help Nintendo be more comfortable with doing this Western stuff...but nah, they're definitely the only exception and Sakurai and Nintendo will 100% never try this again.

I also remember when the “data” said Eight from DQ8 would not get an alt due to “Luminary and Erdrick being the only likely picks” xD.

Well my data suggests that we’re spazzing out over who’s gonna be the next character to punch Mario while wearing a raccoon tail and shoot a turtle shell at Samus.

It ain’t that deep, it ain’t that important, it ain’t worth the hassle. I will never understand why people get so worked up over smash speculation.

Even if it wasn’t true, it still wasn’t unreasonable to assume that before it happened. I hated that rule. But it was also the only one I really couldn’t argue against.

Hmmmmm........ was it a Capcom panel or a Marvel one? Cause if it was a Marvel one, then yes. I believe you, and I’ll lay off Phoenix. But if it was a Capcom one, then of course they would cheer for him because they’re in the Capcom bubble.
The panel was for the game itself as far as I can tell as youtube showed me "UMVC3 Panel NYCC 2011" without specifics, not to mention it doesn't matter because the argument was "Would Pheonix get people excited?". Don't change the rules just because you're proven wrong

This is just so arbitrary.

As of October of last year, the Persona series had sold roughly 9.3 million copies.

As of 2016, the Ace Attorney series had sold roughly 6 million copies.

That's a better frame of reference than "how loud did a crowd cheer at event."

I’m not changing the rules. I’ve admited in the past that a Phoenix would excite certain people. But The Game Awards are General Audiences and I don’t have much confidence in his ability to please outside of the Smash/Capcom bubble.

pretty sure both the smash bubble and the capcom bubble sorta kinda intertwine

especially with a series like ace attorney, which has a heavy presence on Nintendo platforms
