Okay. But Bayonetta was the “smash ballot winner” at least as far as marketing is concerned. That’s a pretty big finish in theory. Even if it ended up being Bayo.

I mean, Capcom failed to keep enough copies of Ace Attorney in stores when it first came to America so I don't quite get it. The franchise is more succesful than some other franchise already in Smash, DLC or otherwise

I don’t know. It just feels very small and niche. I’m just thinking about the audience they’re revealing it for. And I don’t think Phoenix would make them do anything more then laugh. If not be frustrated. The last thing we want is for the character to be booed.

Also, Capcom and SEGA both getting three characters when Namco still only has the one is criminal.

Shantae or Phoenix would slap. That's for sure. What do you think of Rayman pulling it off instead? He seems pretty popular too.

That said, I think FP5 isn't going to be a character who has a Spirit in the base game. Post FP could be a whole different situation, as they were made at different points in development.

I'd be all for Rayman, but I think I'd say I'm pretty comfortably in the "Vergeben is correct" camp and he says it isn't a Ubisoft character.

No, that's just a lot of falacy. There's no "established pattern," just because Piranha Plant didn't have a stage doesn't mean someone else can't.

What does that mean "too small for the Game Awards"? Whether or not the character they choose is as popular as some other character is meaningless, the reveal will be huge news at this point just because it's "the end of the Smash Fighter Pass."

And we don't know how Disney would work with Smash, you're just seeing the whole company a certain way because of some weird hate you have for them. The way I would see it if I were them is essentially free advertising for their franchise where they don't have to put any work into AND they get some profits from it.

We literally don't know anything, but you're stating things as if they're facts.

I never played an Ace Attorney game even as someone who began playing games with the NDS.

Doh I knew just a slightly bit about him thanks to his crossover with Layton and my experience as a MvC3 player.

I’ve actually seem quite a huge number of people playing with the Switch on the street as how it was during the NDS era, so I am tempted to say yes.

I believe the first case is free, and then the rest of the first game is about $5, and each subsequent game is $7 each, so if you don’t like it after the first one you can drop it. HUGE recommend.

That's a shame! Y'all should look into now if you can, some of the best games you'll ever play IMHO. The original trilogy is on just about anything nowadays as well.

With Pokemon now on the scene and most likely going to be on the system for at least two gens, probably, yeah. All it would take to tip the Switch into sales overdrive is a Black Friday deal next year for a Switch Lite and a Pokemon game.

I’m just forming conclusions based on the observed patterns. I used to fus over the whole “Sakurai could do literally anything” idea and it just drove me crazy. So, until such time as I am proven wrong, I will continue to make assumptions and conclusions based on the given data points.

Phoenix Wright's a pretty popular character. I'm pretty sure he's more "Game Awards worthy", however you define that, than Joker is, if only on the basis that his games have been around since the GBA/DS era, and have sold rather consistently. Also you'd have to be crazy if you think they'd BOO him. If Chrom, being the 7th FE dude didn't get booed much, it ain't happening to Phoenix. Hell, even the "Nintendrones" would probably know of him due to being mostly on Nintendo systems, like Mega Man and Simon Belmont.

Now is Phoenix likely? Totally different story. There's no evidence to suggest it's him in particular.
