Your close-mindedness gets you in a fair bit of trouble whenever your opinion conflicts with another. Especially when said opinion is either common, backed by reason, or both.

You just gotta loosen up and make more of an effort to understand other people's points instead of doubling down on your own to ridiculous levels.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's something you gotta make an effort to change. Otherwise you'll just keep repeating this cycle.

I really like the designs of all the Sword/Shield Pokemon shown so far, but none of them really stand out as Smash bros. fighter material to me at the moment.

Fair enough. I'm sure people already know which Pokemon I'd like to see the most, though Obstagoon looks cool too.

I really don't want another starter though. Most of them end up being unique, but they feel like safe and unimaginative choices.

As I said a page or two ago, I wouldn't want another Pokémon newcomer. But if we had to get one, I think Corviknight would be a good choice. It's fairly popular from what I've observed, and could use unique Flying-type moves like Brave Bird and Roost (assuming it learns those). It could also exhibit Gigantamax for its Final Smash.

If not Corviknight, I could see Obstagoon.

I can see why you feel that way. Although Starters are basically the "main characters" of the Pokemon Gens. It'd be like getting Tifa before Cloud. Could it work? Sure. But it'd be a little weird. Granted, most of the times, Starters are among my favorite of a new Gen so I don't exactly agree, but again, I understand.

At least in Pokemon's case there's also usually Legendary Pokemon to consider.

Not counting Galarian forms: 17
With Galarian forms: 20
Impidimp is +1

We have, considering the worst case scenario, only seen 1/4 of this generation

Well, one of them literally has a melee weapon in it's mouth and is pretty much the coolest thing ever.

But seriously, I think there's more to work with than people realize if they just got creative. I don't think we have to wait for the final evos of the starters before we can have a serious discussion on who could get in.

I’ll be playing the game and some crazy thing I never heard of will come out and it’ll blow my mind. Or they’ll send out an old Pokémon, but turns out it’s a new form! It sounds fun.

In a sense. But Lucario was a pretty popular Pokemon in general and is kind of a lesser mascot. Not as notable as Pikachu, but bigger than most other Pokemon in general. That's why people are still playing the waiting game on the whole Pokemon thing. Waiting to see which Pokemon pops-off and gets people hype before we start turning into keyboard warriors over which Video Game Super Animal is cooler.

In fact I’d argue it’s pretty evenly split between hype and rage.

Ok. How about this. Some observations.

I was looking at the character select screen, and I noticed that there is a significant ammount of black space on either side that wasn't there before. Enough to move Jigglypuff back up to the top row, and everything else moved to the space it was in before. Just with a new row at the bottom. I have a good feeling that this will probably happen after a certain amount of characters get added to the game. Now, currently, the bottom row has approximately 5 additional spaces. Terry and #5 with 3 new characters. But if you move to fill in the space on the side, that adds in two additional slots. enough for a whole additional 5 character pass. Now, I know we shouldn't be looking at the UI decisions for roster hints, I just think this is interesting.

Contrary to popular opinion, I think just playing it how you want is the best way to first experience Undertale. It's the entire point of its meta narrative. If you do pacifist first, you start noticing the gameplay issues fast. Mainly you'll always have 20 HP

Pokemon fans would rage no matter who the Pokemon is. We could get Gen 3 representation in terms of Blazekin, but people will be pissed that it wasn't Sceptile and vice versa. We can get a Gen 5 character, but good luck having fans have a clear consistent answer on who deserves to be in. We could get Gen 8, and they would scream shill pick. And God forbid we get another Gen 1 rep, that would cause a nuclear meltdown.
