you're about as good as everyone except the top 5

lol dantefox you're such a noob, san diego reaper should be ranked before ROFL

rofl probably knows he has no business being on the list, but hopefully it motivates him to step it up and be even better than he otherwise would have been

k

lovage made me edit it

but now i'm editing it back

joe you woulda been 6th but mango didn't want socal to look like b1tches

So larry and I could show up, place higher than everyone but the top 3, and still not be ranked.

Makes sense.

it does
why didn't you
Not necessarily my business, but..

1: Mang0
2: Zhu <--- beat SS in losers finals, but "forfeited" to allow SS to play Mango in grand finals. SS lost anyway so I count Zhu as having finished second.
3: Silent Spectre
4: Wobbles
5: Lucky
6: Forward
7: HugS
7: Taj
9: Pink Shinobi
9: Eggz
9: Brandon
9: DEHF

is what Hugo is talking about.

IIRC, NorCal has (or nearly has) ranked people based on a single tournament performance (maybe 2) (i.e. azndanny, mikkuz)

I'm just saying, rankings shouldn't reflect skill specifically when certain people don't show up. It should reflect the skill of the region.

I mean, showing up to 1 or 2 tournaments was usually enough to be considered active. So there's the "active" part taken care of. Now it comes to deciding if the player actually deserves to be ranked.

The only time it wasn't appropriate to rank a player after placing high at only one tournament per period was if the panel couldn't be sure if the good performance was a fluke.

But i'm pretty sure I have a resume that states otherwise. Let me find it for you guys, I'll link it when I get the chance.

It's a pretty good resume, you all should read it.

No but really, you all know better. The panel knows better. You just seem to think that this is the way you should be doing things. Well I'm here to tell you all that it isn't. You don't just exclude people from being ranked because you feel they need to keep showing up to events. One event should be enough. If not, state that discrepancy in your mission statement.

Time to grow this community the **** up and give it a real ranking system.

Beating lucky , connor, Sheridan, Falcomist, and eggz at Juice wasn't enough I suppose. =[

Larry is a litte more excuseable, since the only ranked player he beat was rey. But that's our #4 guy.

Nevertheless, SoCal needs a top 15. The community's getting too big for just 10.

Oh the little kid syndrome. Makes sense.

I guess the kid needs to see me in a round robin with #4-10 before he ranks me. And he already knows the result. LoL mango is good and knows who's good, but he's not meant to be a panelist.

Too much responsibility.

pretty sure hes just doing it to spite you and/or motivate you to go to more tournies, and i know it wont

the skill level drops off way too much for another 5 people right now

If that's his reason, and you all know it's his reason, why is he a panelist?

because he still knows the region well and is actually serious/unbiased about deciding most of the rankings

to be honest it's neat that you wanted to be ranked, but it wouldnt really mean anything to socal if we have you as one of our top players but you aren't playing the game. i dont support ranking you if your motvation really is because (its cool to be ranked in both games) when your focus is clearly in brawl right now (17th place lolololo)

Well, it sure is a big motivation to keep playing this game when I won't be ranked after ****** most everyone AND when people think I have to prove myself yet again.

Big motivation.

I don't want to be ranked just because I think it'd be cool to be ranked in both games.

I want to be ranked because I am the 4th best player in Socal even in my rusty state. Because I should be there.

i dont think anyone thinks you didnt earn that spot, if your rusty *** samus can 2-0 lucky and then place 7th at a regional, thats good enough
but why do you care about still being recognized in the rankings when you dont care about the game anymore. you left the game a very highly respected player, why cant you leave it at that

Agreed.

Agreed again.

The discussion I had with Lovage over this PR was so dumb. I don't like it at all, which is why I'm so glad I'm not ranked.

Why? Because maybe I'm playing for the West Coast team @ Genesis?

I thought it was already stated that I would be. You're about to have a non ranked socal player on your West Coast team? Explain that to me

Would a person who doesn't care about the game anymore show up to mango juice or even play on a regional team? Explain that to me.

I don't recall ever saying that I don't care about melee anymore. I'm just focusing on brawl atm. I don't think there should be a definite choice between the two games. I play either, when I feel like it is right. That decision shouldn't affect so many other things such as rankings, respect, and a few other things that are being denied of me.

I mean, you make it seem like there's some cardinal rule that says "If you don't play the game exclusively or with a higher priority, then you shall be excluded from all things related to this community". I'm not marthmasterX fool, I'm HugS. I'm not some brawl noob who needs to make an extra effort for any of this.

I don't want to be ranked for me, I want to be ranked because it's right. Because it's what the rankings should be about. If not, then you need to state it in a mission statement.

I'm not even mad, I'm just trying to help you guys see what you guys are doing wrong. And if I'm the one who's wrong, I want to find out how.

lol belated april fools
the only place we were thinking about possibly changing after the update is 9th place rofl vs. fly

btw if anyone has a problem with rankings here (6-10 apparently) please tell me how you would have it, based on tournament results from this ranking period
