SoCal Melee PR 12/29/2013 Update

lol, technically i guess, but how often do you go peach? (serious question, like 20-80, 30-70?)

Nevertheless, SoCal needs a top 15. The community's getting too big for just 10.

to repeat others, if the skill level isn't there, who cares if there's 200 people, if only 8 are worthy then why a top 15

btw if anyone has a problem with rankings here (6-10 apparently) please tell me how you would have it, based on tournament results from this ranking period

what tournies did fly go to this period? i know i wasn't at every single one, but i don't remember him entering singles at any... we all know he's good but this goes along with what hugs said, in which case hugs should be ranked (just saying that's the logic used it seems)

I agree with Hugo for the most part except that there's really no need to rank him if he's not active. Isai/King technically aren't ranked but they were still considered for the Genesis crew. It's just not necessary if you've only gone to like one tournament

None of you guys have ever explained why you operate this why.

A PR should represent the best players from a region. If there's a big tourny with out of region competition, who would do the best?

Basing off of tourny results just leaves you 2-4 weeks behind every single update. Stop being noobs.

seriously if you could've heard the "logic" behind the rankings it's laughable

and i've come around to people like hugo and larry being on the PR, i mean why not? no one else has stepped it up, so why appeal to the lowest common denominator just because they're active

4. hugo 5. tofu 6. lovage 7. atlus 8. fly 9. kira 10. larry lurr

7-9 doesn't really matter but it has to be those three

Xelic lost a set to Wobbles at the Grand Finals at a recent tourney. It can be hard if you don't know the match up you stupid B!TCHES! *grrrrr*

Larry and Hugo should definitely be ranked (top 5/6). I mean seriously.

Peach vs IC's matchup is soooo easy if you know what to do and take away your fear.

Usually when a Peach gets grabbed and starts getting grab combo'd, she gets fear in her heart. But even if you die from the grab, don't have fear, all you have to do is float cancel stuff and dsmash, they lose all their options. Just float toward Nana and bair/nair once they are separated, and then dsmash immediately even if you are dsmashing thin air.

Popo can do nothing but punish you with a grab, which is useless since Nana is not anywhere close.

DI solo Popo's dthrow correctly (up and away) because if you DI up he will uair you, and if you DI away he will WD usmash you.

The matchup is eassssyyyyyyy for Peach. But hard for a scared Peach (I lose to Brandon's IC's with Peach)

Peach vs ICs on a non-neutral (nix Corneria) is like a double cp.

Hugs is worthy of number 4 on the PR hands down. But, a large portion of why this PR exists is to let the people who aren't ranked know who they need to beat and where they stand. I dont necessarily think HugS should get the number 4 spot because, lets say tofu gets good enough to consistently beat him, but never gets the chance to prove himself. You cant prove that you are better than someone else if they never show up or show up too infrequently.

There is a flaw in the PR- inactive players/ There are pros and cons to putting them on the PR,

personally- dont rank someone who cant be challenged cuz they dont show up or play much.
