So I was watching Evo11 and..

Came up with an idea that I think it would be cool.
Every year (Im pretty sure its every year) at Evo they have the creator of Street Fighter (i think they had the creator of tekken one year) come and watch and talk to the players and all that.

I thought it would be cool if we were to try and get Sakurai to come to a big smash event if we havent tried already. I can understand it being difficult to get a hold of him but trying never hurts. It would be cool if we could get him to come to Apex which will basically be one of the biggest tournaments if not the biggest

again this is just an idea

the guy who made Street Fighter intended for it to be played at events like evo. Sadly i'd say Sakurai doesn't have the same connection to the fan base as the creators of Tekken or SF.

although i am pretty sure some Nintendo reps are expected to be at the next Apex, so who knows he might surprise us/me

Sakurai would probably strap a bomb to himself and try to kill as many competetive smashers as possible. "Hey, Mew2King, come give ol' Sakurai a hug!"

Worse yet, how's his english?
And even worse, do we want him there? I think most players want him dead to prevent Brawl 2, and I think even if he can speak english well, all he'd do with it is argue with smash players about why Melee was bad.

Since developers are never good at their games, he's given the lowest seed. He plays Mango in the first round. He then uses "taunt dashing", an advance technique so complicated that M2K malfunctions from seeing it performed. And he just trolls all over the place at the speed of friggin light and wins Apex... And then says "Brawl was just a test to see if Melee players would stick it out... I love each and every one of you, and in Smash Bros 4 all the characters are fast fallers and infinites and chain grabs don't exist and all characters are balanced and you can wavedash and L Cancel and Nintendo will personally sponsor Smash tournaments for the next few decades or so."

I wish more companies were proud of the competitive scene that's created when it's something as positive as the smash community, or at least took more pride/attempted to take more pride in them.

I do also wish there was a patch system or something, where the backroom could vote on changes and try to make every character viable in melee. Project M and Brawl+ just aren't the same, and I feel like there could be little changes to make more characters/things viable without breaking the game.

If addition of tripping and removal of almost every viable tech skill from 64/Melee is not hate, I don't know what hate is. Either that or the executives pointed a gun at his head and told him to make for the casuals. Either way, he will never be accepted by the Melee/64 community.

So Alex Strife said Reggie may or may not be going to Apex and I think that's the best thing we can realistically hope for.
That said I wonder what he's actually supposed to be doing. Say we manage to make Sakurai go to a Smash tournament, then what? Sakurai seems to be the kind of developer who's very stubborn in his philosophy in how games are supposed to be made and played, so it probably won't affect the development of the next game much.
