Obviously the names were removed and the players were labeled as their characters to maintain a degree of anonymity ;)

1. Is contradicted by 3&4. If it's the best, you're only putting yourself at a disadvantage by not being comfortable with it.

2. It's dsmash in either corner. Again, don't run into something stupid.

3. Agreed

4. Typically they hate certain stages because it swings matchups towards your favor.

life is contradicting in itself. It's just saying be comfortable playing on all stages.

People have mental blocks when it comes to some stages, where they have bad memories so they do something wrong, or what not. there was a local play in my state that I'd play and take him to a stage and he'd always lose because I went ganon in a serious tourney and only killed him with side B and dairs. nothing else. so i CP'd him there everytime and did that till he started avoiding spots and making him make tons of player mistakes.

it's like sandbagging. you know they're not doing the best they can, but you still cant beat them... why is that. It's all mental. Learn2Psychology for the win ;)

I get it all the time because they can't ban it against me or they get taken to Brinstar by my Feta Knight. SV makes it so they have to risk getting grabbed to land, ANYWHERE. BF they can take uair damage and go back to camping infinitely. YI you can at least PC sometimes, so I guess it's better than BF.
This is why I agree with Cheese. Minus the MK part. FD>SV>YI>BF

Platforms make it so TL doesn't have to land EVER. BF's platforms are stationary so you can't PC and all you can do is get one uair per 10 bombs blowing up on you.

YI's platform is also always there. He's a bit more limited in where he can go, but he still always has a platform. PC there is not always available so I don't even use it really.

SV's platform is moving (so you can PC) and is semi-small so it's sometimes like FD (if you can keep TL from running to the platform, which you should be able to).

FD has no platforms. Simple.

tldr; Platforms are good for TL. Bad for us.

I just explained how to use platforms against tl and why smashvilles platform is harder to punish TL on then bf's :/.

When did I ever say to approach them when it's on the side? I said you shouldn't and it's bad because they can throw **** at you with ZERO risk of you hitting them while on BF you can always punish them if they mess up or miss space something.

Still, when do you plan on getting a grab? Never. Without grabs, it's really hard to kill them. Uair is already super stale cause it got you ALL the percentage he has. Bair is hard to hit with because of his bair, zair, anything. Fair is sorta viable imo. I use it when he's not expecting it.

i'm a kid i can't argue lol.

I don't plan on getting a grab. I didn't beat kingtoon by grabbing him. Grabbing is too risky and you will lose the % lead going for them against TL, you need to play as safe as possible and abuse the fact that you do so much damage off reads. Only go for grabs when they put themselves into situations where it's not risky to grab them.

You win by timing them out and applying a lot of pressure when they are on the edge.

Jerm has timed me out once, I have never timed out Jerm.

Why would they feel pressured at the ledge? Drop and pull out a bomb. Jump a way and throw it.

Because that doesn't work. Both ice block and blizzard stop bombs if thrown from the ledge and you can throw out ice blocks and use the other climber to punish whatever they do a lot more safely then they can drop off the edge and pull a bomb. You can also just instant throw them pretty easily, though I usually don't do that on the edge because you have better options. You can get a good amount of % just from them trying to get back on the stage without getting grabbed.

I want to play jerm again, I haven't played him in awhile and it looks like he's gotten a lot better. I have a winning record against him with IC's(actually I don't think he's ever beaten my ics in a MM or tournament, he beats my gw though) but it would probably be a lot harder now lol. I 3 stocked hyro in bracket at mlg, beat kingtoon at pound. I know the TL match-up really really really well and have good credentials in it. IMO MJG is by far the best at the ic match-up as I have yet to beat him with Ic's. I keep getting closer every time I play him though so hopefully I manage to eventually lol.

The match-up is horrible for ic's, I'm just telling you all the stuff I've learned from playing various top tl players in tournament and money matches.

Toonlink just has too many options from the ledge. If you alt blizz or IB then they can do a get up attack or jump away and throw a bomb or boomerang.. If you're too close with blizzard, they can throw a bomb after dropping from the ledge (they have invincibility).

Nope. If they do a get up attack and you are blizzarding they get grabbed. You shouldn't be blizzarding close, you should be blizzarding so that the tip is right at the edge. If they getup attack you can shield it and just grab them. That is suuuuper risky for tl anyways so I doubt you will see them get up attack.

If they jump away and throw a bomb you can just grab the edge and then hit them because they will be in a horrible position. Same with with rang.

The best thing they can do is drop down and throw a bomb up, then z catch it and grab the ledge, then jump off the ledge and either throw the bomb down or z drop it. You can often catch them with the tip of blizzard or nair when they do this though.

You have to think differently. You don't blizzard to hit them with blizzard, you blizzard to limit options and then punish the obvious reaction they have to it. You don't overcommit yourself to something, you bait them into overcommiting.

The ONLY time Ics can do this vs tl is when he is on the edge. You should learn how to get the most out of it.

Mannnnn, I still think platform canceling is way more important then having shielding from cross-map projectiles. I don't have a problem with power-shielding/catching their stuff, so who cares if they're standing there throwing stuff? Just let them fling stuff at you, it shouldn't be doing damage.

If you watch MJG's videos, he does most of his frame trap setups and pressure tactics while you're busy shielding projectiles.

Once upon a time there was a giraffe born in Giraffe County. And the mother said, "Oh my, his neck is much too short" And the giraffes said, “Oh that's sad”. So then he lived like a quarter of his life and as he lived his life, everyone laughed at the giraffe saying, "You have a short neck, you'll never fit in!" So the giraffe went off in search of a way or place for him to fit in.

So he went to the bottom of a mountain and there was an old man who lived there and the old man said, “Come here; I will help you with your problem!” And so the little short necked giraffe went into the house and he said, "Oh man, what can you do for me?" "Go to the basement where I keep my kids, they can be your friends!" so the giraffe said, "This is creepy but I guess I will!" So he went down the stairs -plunk plunk plunk- and once he got to the bottom, he opened the door and realized that he could not fit in the basement because his neck was too tall for the basement! He still had a short neck comparatively, but he got new confidence. "If I don't fit in the basement, then maybe I am not that bad of a giraffe!" So he went back to his village where everyone mocked him until he died but he lived knowing that he did NOT fit in a basement.

Meanwhile, back in the bottom of the basement, the two little children were SO SAD saying, "Oh boogerbutts! I almost had a friend." The little boy said, “Don't be sad, I can make you happy. Let’s think about the day where we got out of this basement. We’ll have all sorts of friends!" And the little girl said, "But we'll NEVER get out!" And the boy said, "Think as if we do! I know what will cheer you up! Here's some material. Let's make coats and pretend we're in the wilderness! And they'll have to keep us warm!" And the girl said, "Ok!" And so the boy made two coats, one pink and one blue. Then put the coats on and the girl said, "Something's missing! It's not warm enough! If we were really in the wilderness, this would not really protect us." The boy said, "You're right! What should we do?" The girl said, "Let’s find white fluffy stuff." And they went searching but all they could find was mold and mildew and termites. They could not find any fluffy stuff!

And then the old man, trying to be mean, said, "I'll give you some fluffy stuff!" And then threw down a bunch of cotton balls, thinking it would make them sneeze because he hated his little children. But the little children were so happy because they had cotton balls. So they took the cotton balls and sew them onto the coats! And now they had pink and blue fluffy coats! The little girl so loved them; they'd pretend they're outside all the time! They would beat up squirrels, and climb mountains, but all in their imagination because they were, after all, in a mildewy basement.

And they had so much fun that all the termites had begun to grow jealous! They said, "Little children, how can we ever have as much fun as you and go on as many adventures?" The little boy said, "You can go on adventures if you help us get out of here." So the termites dug and they ate and they dug and they ate and they kept on digging until they made it back out into fresh air. And the girl said, "Oh boy! I smell it!" And then they got out and they just loved it so much. They didn't want to go down, ever again!

So they began to climb up and up and up the mountain. They just kept on climbing. And together, they felt like they could do anything! They kept going up and up and up and then they reached the top of the mountain. You see, this is where the problem is. Because once you're at the top, where do you go? Surely not down, for the little children would never go down. Their spirits had gone up so they must go as high as they can until they can find their spirits. But they never will because their spirits are so high.

So they're at the top of the mountain, looking at the stars, trying to figure out what they were supposed to. They couldn't go down any way, and they could not go up. All they could go was three feet to the right. And three feet to the right was a bunch of sticks. And the boy said, "Let's make hammers!” And the girl very exasperatedly said, "Boys always resort to hammers! That's not going to help us!" The boy said, "Just trust me!" So they went three feet to the right, picked up the sticks, and made hammers. And of course, the boy, always being wrong, made the hammers way too big. So now they have two giant hammers and they don’t know what to do.

They’re still at the top of the mountain and they were getting hungry. They wanted fresh air, they needed to keep climbing. So what did they do? In frustration, they picked up their hammers and smashed them on the ground. BAM!!!!!!!!. All the dinosaurs in the world died. The mountain shot up all around them. And all a sudden they realized they can climb forever and ever! So they kept climbing and climbing and whenever they got to the top, BAM. More mountains would appear. While they climbed, they helped everyone! They would beat people up with their hammers and would climb. They were the best little climbers in the world! They became known as the ice climbers, and people had them help fight their Nintendo battles everyday!

This is the story of the Ice Climbers. It's true.

Smoom with that pro story. :3 It's in history books folks.

One thing that's wrong with it though: Verb agreement is off with the use of the word "sew". It should be "sewed." :troll:

Edit: I don't really want to derail the QandA thread so I'll post this here.
I'm just becoming less tolerant of new player trolls. it's fine if you do it, because you've been part of the boards for a long time. It's like a group of friends calling eachother names, then a person walks by and calls you the same name that your friends just called you. . . You get upset over it. Capeche?
Except I don't get upset whenever some other person calls me the name my friends just did. Especially if I can tell they're just giving me a hard time for laughs. o.o

Maybe I'm too approachable of a person lol.

I'm definitely an approachable person. You're just taking this too far in terms of what i'm saying. come on ;) you know what i'm saying.

It'd be like a group of black bros chilling, calling each other the N word * lul* then a random guy comes up and laughs. and called one of the the N word...

Get respect before you disrespect ya know :)
