Guys, ask away. Do NOT make a new thread about a question. If someone does, spam links to this thread. Consult master sensai (aka Havvok) for more information. This thread IS active, excuses like "oh I didnt think Id get a respnse its a stiky its dead 10 lolololols lol"

NO

Tell me if I need anything on the FAQ, by PM. Don't worry, I frequently empty my PMs.
I'll come up with ones over time.
FAQ
WARNING: THIS IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Q:Will you respond in thanks to any suggestions for the FAQ?
A:Yup :)

Q:How long until C4/ mines blow up?
A: 26.5 seconds for C4, 25 seconds for mines.

Q: Does Snake have a grab release CG on a few characters?
A:He has one on Falco, and probably more. Further testing is needed.

Q:How do you escape D3's CG?
A:It's impossible if done perfectly, but mash the B button for a grenade.

Q:Why do I keep on losing to MK?
A:Lol, but keep on the ground.

Q:Are most of these questions invented by you or formed by actual problems?
A:Yes.

Q:Is this a made up question?
A:Go away...

Q:How do you do DAC?
A:Dash, and slam down on the cstick and then up and Z at the same time on the cstick.

Q:How do you shield drop grenades?
A:Shield while holding a grenade.

Q: Who's the best supplementary secondary for Snake?
A:Consult http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=212515

the answer is space with ftilt and camp with grenades :laugh:

in all seriousness potentially good thread unless there is already another one, I'm too lazy to search, but this forum could use one of these

Apparently T*H*O*R thinks there's one somewhere (due to it being in his best snake threads thread), but the link goes to the wrong place (matchup) and I checked, there's none in this forum.

So yeah, I think there was, but it probably got deleted due to cluttering.

YAY new thread! :lick:

simple Q...

whats the best way to KO if the enemy is playing a massive keep away game from utilt. against the likes of wolf and ZSS once theyre in kill range they will often dodge my utilt really well and pile on a ton of uneccessary damage. ftilt is generally staled too much to ko <150

you usually can't just run in and use your kill moves at will, you have to set up situations where you will not be punished for using them. ftilt might not kill early as it is usually stale, but you can use that to send them off the edge, giving you an opportunity to rack up more damage and limit your opponents options so that a kill move is easier to land. jab combo can also KO if you're near the edge and it's fresh, also jab canceling into utilt can work sometimes(first hit of ftilt to utilt is almost equally effective I think). if you can grab, choke them a few times to help unstale your moves, then dthrow and try to get something out of that. biggest mistake some snakes will make in this phase is to stop their camp game entirely and just go for the KO move, grenades, mortars, C4, all help limit your opponents options thus making them more predictable and giving them fewer opportunities to strike back at you, as well as making your laggier attacks safer, in addition to this, a lot of snake's KO attacks are more likely to work out of shield anyway, so forcing your opponent to attack you and leave themselves open is good

Don't go for the KO.

Why?

You'll get predictable if you repeatedly try to u-tilt, and then that will get stale.

A stale ftilt can knock them off, and you can edgeguard with nikita and fair's meteor.

Also, camp. Racking up damage without taking damage yourself is always a good thing, except at 999%. :laugh:

If you're able to get them above you, uair is a deadly force high enough.
C4/Proxim can actually KO high enough, and can easily let you finish them off.

Edit: oops, I pratically said exactly the same thing as Nic.

Edit 2: Crap, I forgot the jab combo!

what can you do out of dgrab? im starting to use snake, hes so fun
when you dthrow your opponent has four options, get up, get up attack, roll behind you, roll away. just by standing next to them and shielding the moment they start to move, you cut their options in half and only rolling away can save them, so by switching between that and running after the roll away option, you basically have a 50-50 chance of a regrab or ftilt. on platforms like those found on battlefield and brinstar, there is not enough space to roll away and if you have quick reflexes, you can just keep grabbing them.

also, in a lot of cases in mine at least I usasally play on FD, so I have a chance of having a Proxy set up next to them when they roll. so that cuts it into like a 3/4's of a chance of them getting pounded and/or launched

You can proxy, or even C4!

It's possible to do a infinite with it.

You can also predict their rolling and lead into another dthrow.

Even though it's my own thread, I think this should be stickied too.

you can lay a proxy or C4, but you generally won't lead into one from a dthrow

it doesn't infinite except when they're hanging over the ledge

or ftilt, jab combo, up tilt, or dtilt

Q&A's are always a good this to have at the top of the page

When spacing with this "F-tilt" >_> should I try to get the edge of the first part of it, and push them away, or hit with the end of the second one? I feel like the range vs power thing comes in here.

@Taeran
This topic needs more Camp with 'nades and space with Ftilt.

@Phloat
Mid-Range for first hit (unless they are in the air! then as far away as possible) because the first hit doesn't give knockback, you want to be able to make sure you can hit with the second one.

Also Jab > Ftilt > Ftilt2

^ if they are close enough for a jab

Jab comes out 1 frame faster then Ftilt.

Spacing means get the **** away from me ( to a certain extent).
ftilt is awesome. Not only can it be a kill move, it get them in the perfect range for all the things Snake has (stage control, grenade, ect.)

Wait, what's your question?
Oh, it totally depends whether it's for a kill (2) clearing (2) or spacing (1&2 if possible).

Remeber, you have your jab combo too!

If ftilt 1 trips, don't do 2 and it's possible to get a f:smash: in.

Can you smash DI out of marths dancing blade last slashes where its green?
Which last slash, foward, up, or down?

I think (I'm not sure) that you can SDI out of the down one (the multi).

It's a multi-hit, so probably.

:veryconfu

Percent also matters.

Green = Down
Blue = Up
Red = Neutral

Last I checked.

Most marths go

RBGG

I go

RRGG at <30
RBGR at >30
I play Marth for "fun", and I almost always RRGG except at very high %s except when you can kill, or too low.

I remeber the input and how it slashes, not the color. :******:

It's always good to have lots of space with ftilt and camp with grenades, but give them an answer when they want it not that, unless it is the anwser.

He was asking for viable options out of dthrow, the ledge infinite thing shouldn't happen to a good player

Yeah.. I've only ever actually pulled it off about twice, and those were agaisnt someone who dosen't even own the game, nor can even beat a level 6 CPU *barfs*, so yeah, I agree.

I should stop trying to answer these questions and give the thread to Havvok...

I study Brawl and theorize all day long.

@black

A good player may resort to edge camping, then the infinite becomes viable for about 2 throws until they realize they can Bair out of it. (or in some cases like Peach, nair out of it)

Otherwise it does work, if you have frame perfect timing, lol.....

Also Taeran, just answer questions you actually know ;) just because you made the thread doesn't mean you need to answer all the questions.

Thanks...

I know most of the questions, some I know some (lol), and others I have absolutely no ****ing idea.

Why/How do controller ports make a difference to C4 recovery?

How do they effect thing in general?

Lol at someone asking questions in their own Q&A thread. :laugh:

true fax, but theres generally better options than getting baired trying a frame perfect infinite

like camping with nades and spacing with ftilt

also, i study the f*** out of this game to, its just fun

-_- camping and spacing right isn't going to be ALL you do in match, its just Snake's best options for the most part, if you have a question about a throw ask or read a guide, you'll get your answers

also, we answered a question about throws already (mostly followups but still throws were mentioned)

JtM speaks the truth almost.... except its going to be about matchups.

"How do I beat Falco?"
"Camp with 'nades, space with ftilt. Oh... and crouch"
"How do I be..."
"Camp with 'nades, space with ftilt"
"I was going to say how do I beat snake..."
"Don't let him camp with 'nades and don't let him space with ftilt."

Taeran:

It doesn't affect c4 recovery, you can blow yourself up no matter what >.> lol

Black:

Do the infinite 1-2 times for that extra 16% then fthrow them. Then go camp with 'nades while they recover, and if they try to close in, space with ftilt.

Also, I study it from 9am to 10pm (my hours of operation) >.>
